The Ex-Husband’s Revenge By Dragonsky Chapter 38
“Mind your conduct!”
Iris rolled her eyes charmingly at Leon and saw the wound on his palm. Concerned, she asked, “How’s the wound on your hand, by the way? We have an infirmary here in our company. Let me bring you there.”
Leon hesitated for a moment because the injury on his hand was just a skin injury and it was nothing serious.
Then again, getting the wound cleaned up at the Còntens bel0ngs to Nô(v)elDr/a/ma.Org
infirmary would be beneficial in preventing the wound from getting infected.
“You have a pile of work waiting for you after your absence from the office yesterday. Let me bring him to the infirmary instead!”
Ariel took the initiative to offer her help.
“You?”
Iris glanced strangely at Ariel. If she remembered correctly, Ariel seemed to be quite unhappy with Leon because of what happened earlier that morning.
Furthermore, Ariel was a very proud woman who
generally ignored most men, so it was rather unexpected of her to take the initiative and offer to help bring Leon to
the infirmary.
“I believe Joseph’s lie at the expense of misunderstanding Leon, so I’d like to bring him to the infirmary as my way of apologizing to him…”
Ariel blushed slightly because Iris’s gaze made her feel a little uncomfortable.
“Sure, you can bring him there then.”
Iris smiled and did not think too much about it.
Leon got his wound cleaned and bandaged at the infirmary before returning to the president’s office.
Since Joseph was fired from the company, Iris reassigned another executive to oversee the operations at the president’s department.
He was a middle-aged 40-something man by the name of Shane Flanagan; he would later become the head of the president’s department.
There was a total of three secretaries in the department: Leon, Lily, and a young woman named Gracie Woodall.
Gracie was in her early 30s and served the company for more than three years. Clad in a charcoal business suit and rimless eyeglasses, she gave off the aura of a sharp- witted and experienced individual.
Shane arranged for Leon to work under Gracie and learn some of the work basics from her.
Leon paid full attention to Gracie’s careful guidance and an afternoon passed in the blink of an eye.
When it was time to get off work, Leon was in a buoyant
mood as his mind was filled with thoughts of Iris’s
beauty. He made his way to the parking lot while humming a random song.
“Wait up, Mister Wolf…” a crisp voice came from behind.
It was Lily, who trotted over from afar with a flush face.
“Is something the matter, Miss Cameron?”
Leon frowned and glanced unhappily at Lily. He did not take kindly to Lily anymore after her ungrateful behavior earlier.
“I’m sorry for what I said earlier. It was all my fault. I’d like to apologize to you…” Lily bowed to Leon.
“You don’t need to apologize again. You’ve already done so in the office,” Leon said indifferently.
“I know that, but I genuinely hope to receive your forgiveness…” Lily bit her lip. Her mind was a complete mess all afternoon, and she continued to feel ill at ease. because she was trying to figure out a way to get Leon’s forgiveness.
“It’s in the past, so whether or not I forgive you is no longer an issue!”
Leon scoffed at her plea. He was no saint, and anyone
who experienced what she did to him would surely find it difficult to just forgive her.
Lily gritted her teeth and knelt in front of Leon with a thud.
Leon was startled, and he immediately stepped forward to help Lily up. “Miss Cameron, what are you doing? Get up!”
Lily shook her head and refused. “Mister Wolf, please just listen to me. I didn’t mean to make things difficult for
you…
“My father disappeared from home when I was very young, and it was my mother who worked hard all on her own to raise me and my brother…
“She was admitted to the hospital a few months ago due to being overworked, and that incurred a huge amount in monthly medical expenses…
“My brother has just been admitted to Springfield University this year and needs tuition and living
expenses…
“This job is very important to me. I was scared of losing my job, and I only helped Mister Conrad to frame you because my mind was a mess at that moment…
“I know that I was wrong. All I ask is that you give me a chance and forgive me. Please…”
