Just as Fleur was laughing gleefully, Frank raised a brow, and a subtle strand of pure vigor shot out of his finger. It shot straight toward Fleur along the lining of the tile floor, and it was too late by the time Mr. Noon noticed. Smack!
The pure vigor materialized into palm, slapping Fleur across the face so viciously several of her teeth flew out, and she dropped limply on the floor, seeing stars.
Yora promptly wheeled on Frank and snapped, "Insolence! How dare you, Frank Lawrence!"
Beside her, Mr. Noon only moved closer to her without going to help Fleur.
Nheless, Frank shrugged. "What?"
On the other hand, Fleur was finally helped to her feet, and her eyes flared even as she pointed a trembling finger at Frank. "You brat... How dare you..."
"Why is everyone looking at me here? Someone simply got her comeuppance for running her mouth-it's not my fault," Frank said, glancing at Helen. Helen was surprised too but soon flashed a wry smile.
She knew that it was Frank, and while she was concerned, the slap was still cathartic.
Fleur groaned, "Madam Yimmel, they're..."
"We're leaving!" Yora snapped and glared at Fleur right then, clearly telling her that she was slapped because she deserved it.
Still, she added, "You have three days, Frank Lawrence. Keep strutting while you can."
And with those words, she left with her entourage.
Fleur remained seething but did not dare breathe another word and clutched her cheek as she fled behind Yora.
Still, her eyes flashed with spite before she left, making it clear that she would not let this slide.
Nheless, silence ensued in the room after she and Yora's entourage left.
Even so, Gina's eyes still carried hope as she held what remained of the recorder in her palm. "Helen, do you think we can fix this? I picked up all the pieces, and..."
Helen slapped everything off her hands, shaking her head. "Just stay out of this, Mom. Frank and I will handle this."
"Handle this?! How?!"
Gina broke down right then, burying her face in her palms as she sobbed, "I thought things would get better for us after you became the head of the family. But Madam Yimmel is just savage! I know Frank is amazing, but the Yimmels are no slouches themselves!
"I've even heard that there are monsters among the ranks of their retainers... We should just give up and return to Riverton! Being alive beats everything else!"
Gina's pessimistic rant left Helen frowned.
She had been working herself to the bone for Lanecorp over the last few months and had no time for herself, while even back at Riverton, she could at least spend time cooking for Frank.
Moreover, aside from Frank's immense influence, Helen was the mainstay in Lanecorp's current successes.
As such, giving up on Lanecorp would hurt her more than cutting her open.
After some thought, Helen found her determination and clenched her knuckles. "I'm going to Laneville. Grandunele's health is more
important than Lanecorp. I'd nal ne
forgive myself if anything happens to him because of me."
