The Great Medical Saint

Chapter 285

Zachary continued, "When my grandfather was 87 years old, he accidentally slipped on a stone while walking and ended up at the hospital. "The doctors recommended surgery to insert bone screws and suggested using titanium alloy or other materials for stabilization.

"My grandfather hardly ever spent money on medical care since it was all covered by government subsidies.noveldrama

"We didn't think much of it at the time. But who knew that once he was on the operating table, he would never return? I nearly lost my mind.

"Later, I found out that after the age of 70, surgery is generally not recommended for elderly people. But they went through with it just to get the government subsidies. My grandfather passed away, so I ended up working as a guard here."

In the break room, the injured people had stopped complaining about their pain, and the room fell into a sudden silence.

Matthew had mixed feelings. He couldn't help but think that Zachary's grandfather had been unfortunate to encounter such a doctor.

At the same time, he sympathized with Zachary. He wouldn't have to work if his grandfather had lived a few more years and paid into his retirement plan until Zachary was 60 years old. Tears welled up in Zachary's eyes as his voice quivered with frustration. "I'm not upset just because I can't live a carefree life anymore. Being a guard isn't that tiring.

"But I don't understand. Why? Why is this happening? They're doctors... and yet, for money, they took my grandfather's life. Why? Why have doctors become executioners?"

His voice was rough and raspy, as if sandpaper had scraped his throat. It was filled with anguish and bitterness-a painful mix of accusation and anger, tinged with deep frustration.

It was as if he were questioning himself or perhaps God. He spoke with such emotion that his fingers trembled, and his grip on the phone loosened, causing it to fall to the ground. Matthew didn't know how to comfort him. After a moment, he said softly, "Put your phone away. I don't want the money."

Zachary picked up his phone and said, "I'm giving you this money because I want to support traditional medicine practitioners. You're wasting your talents here as a chauffeur. You should open your own clinic." Matthew became even more determined to help Silas open a clinic. He also wanted to support Jenny and Cosmo in starting their own clinic. Additionally, he planned to teach Mason traditional medicine.

But there was no need to share

these thoughts with Zachary.

Instead, Matthew joked with a smile,

"Why bother with traditional

medicine? I'm the chauffeur for a

beautiful president. Isn't living off her generosity much easier?"

Zachary was momentarily taken aback, then let out a dry laugh. "I completely forgot about your relationship with our president." As he spoke, he put his phone away.

The others nearby overheard

Matthew and couldn't help but ask curiously, "Matthew, are you and the president for real? Most of us in the security department would jump at the chance to run errands for her, carry her bags, or move some luggage just to be around her.

"Everyone dreams that maybe, just maybe, she'll notice them, and their lives will change forever. But no matter how hard we try to impress her, we've never seen her smile. She doesn't even acknowledge our efforts." Another guard nearby laughed and chimed in, "Yeah. I'd also like to know if this is true."

Matthew decided to play along and treated it as a joke. "Of course it's true! The president won't leave her house unless she's in my car. She insists I drive her everywhere. She can't live without me anymore."

Zachary had seen Rachel ask

Matthew to drive her car before and

was willing to vouch for him. "I can attest to this. Matt is really something. He's just a chauffeur right now, but give it some time. Ms. Carter and the entire Wealthwave Group will be his."

The guards nearby were full of admiration, and even those who were injured forgot their pain. They eagerly asked, "Matthew, how did you manage it? Tell us your secret. Don't worry, we won't compete with you. "If you can share the trick to impressing the president, I'll quit my job right now and switch companies to chase after the president myself."

"Matt, come on, spill the beans. What's your trick? Did your strong physique or sweet talk win her over?"

"How did you win over someone as stoic and icy as the president? She's always so cold and unapproachable. Come on, tell us."

Everyone laughed and asked eagerly.

Unbeknownst to them, Rachel had walked to the door. She was there to check on the injured guards and hand out bonuses.

But she overheard Matthew boasting to others about how he had won her over and using her private life as a bragging point. The coldness she felt was so intense that it seemed to freeze the air around her. She said coldly, "Matthew, tell me. How exactly did you manage to get me? I'd love to hear it, too."
