The Killer Queen (Noella Briony)

Chapter 420

The Serene Haven was all set and ready for the big day.

Since it was a family gathering, Marcel found himself seated right beside Sexton.

Sexton, with tears streaming down his face, watched as Noella and Palmer walked in hand in hand. His memory was a bit fuzzy these days. He'd been slipping into longer and longer periods of unconsciousness lately. But seeing his grandson, the one he worried about the most, finally standing next to a girl in a wedding dress brought tears to his eyes.

Helen passed him a handkerchief. "Dry your eyes, will ya? It's just an engagement, not the wedding!"

"An engagement is wonderful too. I guess I won't be around to see the wedding!" Taking the handkerchief, Sexton carefully dried his face and looked over at the young couple walking towards him, feeling a deep sense of satisfaction. Helen watched him, her expression calm. "Well, now you can say you've no regrets."

"How can I not have regrets..." Everyone has regrets. He just didn't have the time to make up for his anymore!

Merrick Horwich casually asked, "What regrets do you have?"

"Oh, loads! I spent the last few years in the hospital, but I wasn't idle, you know!" Saying this, Sexton pulled out a notebook from his pocket, flipping it open to reveal a list of densely packed plans.

【70th Wedding Anniversary with Helen, a travel itinerary.】

【Taking the grandkids on a world tour.】

【Raising Palmer's kid, a childhood development plan.】

It was surprising that Sexton, in his idle hospital days, had written down so many things! "Ya know, a man's gotta have something to look forward to, or life just ain't worth living!"

Helen blinked, "You were planning to take me... on a trip?"

"Yeah! Didn't we say when we got married that we'd travel every year? Work got in the way, then family troubles, and it just never happened!" These plans were a distant memory for Helen, forgotten over time. She always thought she wasn't the one truly in his heart! But as the years passed and circumstances changed, no one dwelled on these thoughts anymore. Before becoming Mrs. Pollack, Helen was the dazzling star Helen Barth! She wouldn't have married a man she didn't love, no matter how wealthy he was.

"Why didn't you say these things when we were younger?"

"With your temper? You'd have thought I was lying. Besides, who talks about love and affection all the time!” It's all a bit embarrassing to say out loud! Helen wiped away a tear from the corner of her eye, remaining silent.

The engagement ceremony was simple. Beckett looked at Noella, his emotions mixed. "Noella, I'm so happy for you! But I have to ask, do you agree to be engaged to Palmer, to be fiancés?"

"Engagement isn't the same as

dating. It's not the official wedding yet, but from now on, you'll need to support each other through thick and thin!" Noella nodded gently. "I do." Palmer, holding her hand, said firmly do, too." Beckett nodded, handing them the rings to exchange, a symbolic gesture of their commitment. The rings sparkled under the sunlight, drawing everyone's gaze. After signing the engagement certificate, it was as if their promises to each other were even more solidified. The elders looked on, faces beaming with joy.

Sexton, momentarily lost in thought, suddenly stood up, ready to leave in a hurry. Megan quickly grabbed him, "Dad, where are you off to on such a great day?"

"I need to pick up your mom from work!"

"But mom's right here!"

“Oh no, Helen's still at the theatre!" Megan felt a mix of sadness and sympathy; it was clear Sexton no longer recognized Helen as she was now. "Dad, remember Palmer?"

"How could I forget? He's my most cherished grandson!"

"Your cherished grandson is getting engaged today, would you really want to miss that?" Sexton paused, looking confused. Palmer and Noella approached, offering a cup of tea.

"Grandpa, please have some teaket

engagements, Sexton never had the chance to receive this gesture from his granddaughter-in-law, Today, they included it. Sexton chuckled, accepting the cup and drinking it all in one go. "Ah, grandpa's enjoying his tea!" The same cups were also passed to Marcel and Merrick Horwich.

Sienna nudged Tristan. "Why isn't Palmer's dad here today?"

"It's tough for the lad. From now on, we'll treat him like our own son. After all, a son-in-law is like a half-son, we're the winners here!" After all, what business deal could compare to Palmer? Tristan was bursting with pride! That's his son-in-law!

Sienna rolled her eyes. "And who was it that came home crying after the Pollack Group outbid him last time?”

"Who? I don't know him! Besides, it

wasn't a steal. If I knew that deal was Palmer's engagement gift to Noella, I wouldn't have bid... Silly boy, telling me!" Initially, that

dowry from the Schnabel family! But no one expected Palmer to set his sights on it too. After coming home fuming, Tristan received an apology call from Palmer. Apparently, his team didn't understand it was a gift he desperately wanted to secure for the future Mrs. Pollack... Tristan's mood instantly lifted! After all, it was all for Noella, the process didn't matter!

“What does this tell you? It means my son-in-law and I are on the same wavelength!" Sienna laughed. Being on the same wavelength? Then don't get so worked up next time! Only she knew how frustrated Tristan had been.

Outside Serene Haven, a frail old lady with messy hair attempted to storm in, ranting. "How dare you all treat me this way!" "This house rightfully belongs to me!"

Helen straightened up, glancing at the security guards behind her. "What's with the oversight? On a day like this, having her around is just annoying."

Ashlyn was a hot mess, hair flying everywhere as she stormed out of the rehab center, fuming with the news she'd just heard from the doctor. Palmer and Noella were getting engaged today, and it felt like her world was crumbling down. "That witch Harriet! How could you allow this to happen?" "And Noella, that little thief! How dare she steal Yvonne's man! Yvonne is the one who deserves to be the lady of the Pollack mansion!" "Sienna, this is all your fault!"

Noella stood by, her face a mask of icy indifference to Ashlyn's tirades. Before Noella could utter a word, the roar of a helicopter blade cutting through the air silenced everyone. The helicopter hovered above, its blades whipping up a gust of wind, and down dropped a rope ladder with a white-haired old man cackling madly as he descended. This is from NôvelDrama.Org.

"Ha! The old man is back!" "Granddaughter, did grandpa arrive too late? On such a big day, there's no way I could miss it!" "Let's see who dares to mess with my granddaughter's engagement party. I'll sort them out with my shotgun!"

Ashlyn's eyes widened in shock upon seeing Xavier dangling from the helicopter, her expression turning to one of sheer panic.
