The Luna’s Hidden Destiny – Chapter 6
I was jolted awake from a loud noise somewhere in the house. I sat up, looking around my room as darkness filled it. Outside was pitch black now and I must of slept for hours. I tried to steady my breathing, listening for anything as Calypso spoke, scaring me.
‘Maybe try to link your dad, see if he heard it too.’
I nodded my head, trying to calm myself as I linked him quickly.
‘Dad, are you awake?’
My voice was quiet and gentle, just in case he was sleeping.
‘Mila, hide now!’
His voice came out frantic and strained, causing my stomach to drop.
‘What’s going on?!’
Panic filled me as I felt the air grow thick around me, like someone else was here. I slowly took my blanket off, sniffing the air as a pungent sewage like smell hit me. Someone else was here..in my room. My heart dropped and I felt the fur on Calypso’s back rise. Two glowing red eyes suddenly appeared at the end of my bed, freezing me in place.
“We have been watching you little wolf. Oh yes we have..” a deep voice said, causing my stomach to drop. Whoever this was must of been what I felt the last few days.
‘This is who was watching us.’
I gasped to Calypso, trying to keep my cool.
‘Just stay calm, we need to get out of this room.’
I pushed my fear aside, trying to hide any sign of it. Knowing whoever this was would be able to smell it on me.
“Who are you?” I asked firmly, keeping my voice steady as I spoke.
“Brave little wolf, brave indeed.” The voice said, taking a step closer as the form of a large man appeared before me.
His clothes were dirty and smelled horrible, his dark hair long and tied back in a ponytail. His skin tan and his jaw sharp. I would say he was handsome but one look in his eyes, and I knew this man was pure evil. His eyes glowed red, his teeth sharp with his canines protruding out, tinted red. I soon noticed he had a large scar that went down the side of his face all the way to his neck. A rogue..this had to be the rogues my father spoke of. How did he find us here? As if the man could read my mind he spoke roughly.
“I could smell you, your pretty little scent, wafting towards me, whispering for me to claim you.” His voice was gravely as he took another step forward.
“That man, he has hidden you away, something so precious, he wants no one to have you.” His words weren’t making sense, but before I realized it, I was now sitting up straighter, my hands balled into fists as I was preparing to run.
“Where is he..” I whispered out, fear filling me, please goddess, please protect my father.
“Oh, he is being taken care of.” He smiled wickedly, that was it, I wasn’t going to sit here and let something happen to my dad. I needed to act now.
I jumped up, surprising the man as I lunged for my door. He was right on my heels and I quickly threw my leg back, landing a hard kick straight to his gut, winding him. I yanked the door open as the man tried to catch his breath. I heard another commotion going on as I ran to my father’s door. The door had been ripped off its hinges and what I saw inside made my stomach drop. Two more men were on the bed, holding my dad down as he growled angrily. His eyes flashing black as he saw me.
“Mila run!” He yelled out, anger filling him.
There was no way in hell I would run. I looked over, finding the iron fire poker as I quickly grabbed it and ran in the room. I know that other man had to be coming for me any second. If I could just free my dad then we could run together. I swung the iron rod, slashing one of the men’s arms as he cried out, letting go of my dad.
“You little b***h!” The man roared angrily.
My dad worked quickly, punching the man in the face and kicking the other off of him. He leapt forward, transforming instantly into Lucius as he tore at the men, cleanly tearing off one of the man’s arm as he cried out. My eyes widened, trying to stay focused as my dad attacked the other, his cries and whimpers filling the room.
‘Should we transform too?’
I thought quickly, wondering if it was a good idea.
‘No, it will take too long, we can’t risk it.’
I nodded my head, grasping the iron poker tightly in my hands as I anticipated the other man coming soon.
“Little wolf, come out and play.” The man from my room taunted, I could hear he was outside now.
But was he alone? Or were there more men? I looked over at the two limp bodies that laid on the floor. Lucius walked over towards me, growling protectively as he stared outside.
“Big bad wolf doesn’t scare me.” The man hollered, angering my father even more.
‘Stay.’
Lucius growled as he linked with me, I gripped his fur, holding him tightly. This didn’t feel right, why would he willingly call my dad out after he had to know he just killed two of his men.
“Dad please, please don’t go out there, it’s a trap, it has to be.” I whispered hastily, Calypso was pacing in my mind, the anxiety hitting her as we feared what waited for us outside.
Lucius growled, continuing to stalk forward as I bit my l*p nervously. He slipped through the door barely, his size so huge I didn’t know how he could even fit in the house. I gripped my poker tighter, stepping forward as my dad looked back, shaking his head in warning. I was just supposed to wait in here?
‘If we hear him cry out, then we will go help.’
Calypso said calmly, her voice being my anchor. I didn’t know what I would do without her. Looking down, I now realized I was only in my underwear and a long t-shirt. I ran to my dads dresser, finding a pair of his sweats and quickly slipped them on, tying them around my waist as they pooled around my legs.
‘Better than nothing.’
I thought, feeling Calypso’s nod of approval. I looked down, seeing those two men lying there lifeless. I was thankful for the dark night, because I knew if I saw them anymore clearly, it would be something that would haunt me for the rest of my life.
Just then a b***d curdling howl sounded outside, making my stomach drop. Then atleast four more howls went off.
‘Mila, out the back door now, run, run as fast as you can. You need to shift now!’
My dad linked to me and fear filled me.
‘I can’t leave you, please dad, please.’
My heart dropped, I felt sick as I slowly squated down, trying to let Calypso take over but I couldn’t, I couldn’t clear my mind.
‘Go now! I will find you, I promise.’
He said one last time as I heard whimpering and snarling from outside.
‘Just go out the window Mila, now.’
Calypso yelled, pulling me back to reality as I looked towards the back of the room. I quickly ran to the window, realizing I didn’t even have shoes to wear. Now that I was a wolf it should be okay, my body can warm me up for a while.
I opened the window hastily, pulling it roughly and feeling the cool night air rush past me. Growls and snarls echoed throughout the dark forest, I knew my dad had to be putting up a good fight. He had to win, he just had to. I jumped out of the window and right as I landed, I heard that voice in the house once more.
“Little wolf, where are you? I want you to meet your new pack.” He snarled and I was off, I couldn’t let him know where I was.
I quickly sprinted across the back yard. The sounds of wolf’s crying out slowly faded as I continued to run. Where would I go? How would I find my way back? Who were these men even?
‘Dad, are you okay?’
I linked hastily, I needed to know, I couldn’t leave him like this. It felt wrong, this all was so wrong. If he didn’t answer I was going to turn around.
‘Yes, there are only two left, do not stop no matter what you do, I will come for you.’
Relief filled both me and Calypso, he was okay, he was still okay. His link sounded further away so I knew I wouldn’t be able to contact him soon until I circled back around. I continued to run, dodging through trees and over logs. My legs began to burn as I kept my knees high sprinting through the thick snow.
‘That way, there is a river, and we can hide our scent there.’Content (C) Nôv/elDra/ma.Org.
Calypso quickly pointed out to me, as I took a sharp right. Suddenly out of nowhere I felt him, that evil man from my room. The hairs on the back of my neck stood up as I knew he was getting closer each second.
“Little wolf, I found you.” He yelled as he suddenly lunged into my side, tackling me down as I hit the ground roughly. I heard a loud pop come from my shoulder as I cried out, pain shooting through me.
