Chapter 279
Chapter 279
"Huh?" Liam was dumbfounded at first, but his confusion quickly turned into pure joy when he realised that Hayden didn't want Paige to marry Joseph as well.
He was concerned that Joseph might become a problem when he decided to deal with Paige.
But since Hayden disliked Paige, surely he would prevent Joseph from saving Paige. It would be easy to deal with Paige as Liam could use that to his advantage.
He couldn't contain his happiness at all as he nodded, "That's what I think too, Hayden.
"Don't worry, I'II keep her away from Joseph."
On the other hand, Hayden was equally surprised that things played out so smoothly. He never expected Liam to agree to his suggestion so quickly.
Suddenly, it dawned on him that Liam might look down on Joseph like how he looked down on Paige, and Hayden was uncomfortable with that.
Although Joseph could be uncooperative at times, he was still a cultured gentleman.
Therefore, Liam, of all people, had no right to pick on Joseph.
Hayden's faint smile dropped in an instant before he stared coldly at Liam and said, "That's settled then, Mr. Anderson. Remember to keep an eye on your daughter, I don't want to see her around Joseph again."
"Of course!" Liam promised with pleasure since it was a good thing for Paige to break up with Joseph, "But I do hope that you'd grant me a favour, Hayden."
Liam's giddiness got on Hayden's nerves, but he pushed down his anger and asked with his teeth gritted, "What do you want?"
"You want me to keep Paige away from Joseph, right? I'II do you better, I'll get her to marry someone so that she has no chance to harass Joseph. In return, you'll have to make sure that Joseph won't interfere with my plan!"
"What do you mean!?" Hayden was enraged.
"Are you saying that Joseph has been bewitched by your daughter?!"
"No, I wasn't..." Liam denied it immediately.
"Hayden, I'II be frank with you. Joseph interfered the last time when I tried to give Paige a lesson, and I only stopped because of you," he continued. "I'm saying that I can bring Paige in line, but Joseph won't like it."
Hayden felt better after Liam's explanation but he still answered stiffly, "Alright, leave Joseph to me. You just do what you're supposed to do."
Needless to say, Liam had no objection to such an arrangement. After leaving the coffee shop, he returned to the villa, where he was greeted by Isabella and Sophia warmly.
Sophia put away his coat while Isabella held his arm and asked sweetly, "What's the good news, Liam?"
"You remember how I was worried that Joseph might get in my way when I deal with Paige later?" Liam asked smugly, then he continued without giving them a chance to answer, "We won't have to worry about that now. Hayden doesn't like Paige too, hence he asked me to keep Paige away from Joseph."
"That's great!" Isabella grinned. "Paige will have to give everything including Natalie's shares and the villa back to you. So she doesn't have anyone to help her anymore."
Liam spat with an evil expression, "Don't worry! An eye for an eye. Paige will pay for the harm that Natalie had done to me. I won't leave even a penny for her! I will make her a living hell!"
Isabella asked tentatively after hearing his claims, "Do you already have a plan?"
"I'm still working on it. For starters, I'll get Paige to hand me all the shares under her name. Everything will be so much easier once I'm in control of the shares and the company, Liam replied.
Suddenly, Liam remembered the deal he made with Hayden as he added, "By the way, I promised Hayden that I'll marry Paige off. But I don't know anyone right for her..."
Isabella's eves lit up at his words as she suggested eagerly, "Just pick anyone that doesn't care much about the shares to give you an advantage!"
"I know," he frowned as he had come across what Isabella had thought. "But it won't be as simple as it seems. Think about it... Who doesn't like being wealthy?"
Isabella grinned mischievously, "Well, young men might still be ambitious, but what about those men that are old and crooked? I think we need to think widely." NôvelDrama.Org owns this.
Liam was taken aback for a while before he realised what she was hinting at, and he beamed, "You're right. The best way to get back at Paige is to marry her to an ugly middle-aged widower. I’ll see if there's anyone I know!"
Meanwhile, Paige had slept through the few-hour-long journey back to the villa and only woke up when the car pulled up.
She yawned and rubbed her eyes, "Are we home? How long have I been sleeping?"
"Long enough for me to sell you off," Joseph joked
"Can you bear to be separated from me?" She pouted.
Joseph laughed in reply, "No. That's why I kept you around. Come on, let's go in."
Paige started packing up their luggage for their flight home the next day after returning to the villa.
However, Joseph invited her to take a shower together with him first. His purpose was self-evident, so she waved him away instead.
Joseph was unrelenting as he began to make trouble for Paige by taking out whatever she had packed up.
She was exasperated, "Joseph! Stop, or I won't pack up for you. You can do it by yourself!"
"Sure! I'll do if you come shower with me," Joseph grinned cheekily.
"No," Paige sighed. "You're such a bad guy, you know that?"
"Uh... Come on," Joseph shrugged, and he planted a kiss on her forehead before dragging her into the bathroom. What happened next was history.
Paige didn't know that she could bend in so many ways! She ended up exhausted again.
Afterward, she collapsed in the bathtub in exhaustion. Joseph cleaned her up and carried her back to the soft and wide bed.
He was gentle as he left trails of kisses on her again after tucking her in.
Paige, on the other hand, fell into a deep slumber as soon as her head hit the pillow.
Once Joseph was sure that she was asleep, he got up and walked to the window.
He lit a cigarette and called James, "Get me the DNA samples that Liam sent to the test centers. I'll need them when I go back."
