The Persistent CEO Wants A Baby

Chapter 41 You should be ashamed of yourself!

The doorbell rang repeatedly with no one answering it.

Diana came out of the room to check who it was. She was in the room making Tihana fall asleep as she had cried enough for the day.

“Wayne?” She called out a bit surprised to see him.

Wayne engulfed her in a tight hug and she furrowed her brows not reciprocating the hug.

What is wrong with him?

“I’m sorry.” He apologized lowly when he disengaged from the hug.

Diana didn’t say anything as she continued staring at him, waiting for an explanation for the hug.

He kind of understood the looks she was giving him.

“I…. I’m sorry for the hug.” He apologized again not knowing what to say.

“Why did you hug me unexpectedly?” Diana finally asked.

“I thought you’ve refused to open the door because you were angry at me.”

“And why would I be angry with you?”

“For not being able to protect your friend from what happened to her.” He replied and Diana sighed.

Yes! She was supposed to be angry at him for what Aiden did to Tihana but she wasn’t.

“Maybe because it isn’t your fault. We all know Blossom is the reason behind it, so there’s no need to be angry with you.” Diana shrugged.

Wayne released the breath he never knew was holding, those words just saved his life.

“What is it? You seem so tensed up earlier.” Diana said in a small smile.

“Well, I…. thought you were angry but now, I’m relieved to hear you aren’t.” He replied and Diana smiled again.

“Why don’t you come in and make yourself comfortable?” Diana offered and Wayne’s face lit up.

“Sure.” He replied and went inside.

“So? How is she?” He asked after sitting on one of the couch.

“Aiden narrated everything to me and I couldn’t help but to feel for her.” Worry was written on Wayne’s face as he spoke.

He rushed down to Diana’s place immediately his boss told him everything that conspired between him and his wife.

“To be honest, she isn’t fine at all. She’s been crying all day and I’ve just managed to put her to sleep, hoping to see her better when she wakes up.”

“I’m really sorry for what my boss did, you and I know he wasn’t in his right senses.”

“I do and that’s the reason I don’t bear any grudge against him.” Diana replied and Wayne breathed out in relief once again.

“Where is he by the way? Shouldn’t he be here to make her understand why he did it and also ask for her forgiveness?” Diana asked, her expression changing to an annoyed one.

“Umm, well….. he… he is umm….” Wayne tried to make up something but he was short of words.

Truth be told, Aiden didn’t say anything about coming to beg Tihana but Wayne still needed to find something to say inorder not to give Diana more reason to hate him.

“I’m still waiting.” Diana said as she crossed her hands underneath her breast.

“He…. umm..” Wayne paused again and sighed. He didn’t want to lie to Diana for a reason that remained unknown to him.

“He isn’t coming.” Wayne finally let the truth out lowly and Diana scoffed.

“So expected of him. Here I was busy thinking he would for once bring down his arrogancy and apologize for his wrong doing but I guess a bastard will always remain one.” Diana spat out in anger.

“I apologise on his behalf,….” Wayne paused not knowing what else to say.

He also didn’t get why Aiden didn’t come to beg.

“This isn’t just to apologise on his behalf, Wayne. Aiden has to realise that everything doesn’t have to be in his favour and the sooner he knows this, the better for him.” With this, Diana made to leave but Wayne was quick to draw her back.

“Please, listen to me. This isn’t entirely his fault too, it is the way he was….” Wayne tried defending Aiden but Diana wasn’t ready to listen.

“The way he was what?” Diana chipped in.

“I don’t want to hear any justification for what he did. What he did to my friend is something that is considered to be rape even though they are married, he still doesn’t have the right to sleep with her without her consent.” She blurted out to Wayne’s face.

“I understand everything you’re saying but also try to understand what I am saying.” She just rolled her eyes at him.

“There’s nothing to understand, so don’t bother to explain.” She said and released her hand from him.

“Alright, alright, I agree with you. You’re right, he should come here to apologise.” Wayne surrendered with both hands raised in the air.

Diana didn’t reply him, she just sat back on the couch with hands crossed beneath her breast.

“Don’t give me that cold expression, please.” Wayne pleaded as he sat beside her on the couch.

She still didn’t say a word and she stared at everywhere else but not him.

“I’m kind of hungry now and would love it if you give me something to eat.” Wayne said rubbing his tummy.

“Then go back to where you came from and eat.” Diana replied still not looking at him.

“That was harsh. But still why? You are my girlfriend and I shouldn’t go back hungry.” Wayne whined like a child. Diana was forced to laugh and she did.

“You’re just a fake boyfriend.” Diana said in between laughter and even if what she said had hurt Wayne, he still maintained his funny face because he was getting what he wanted which was her smile.

“It doesn’t matter.” Wayne pouted, making Diana start another round of laughter after the first had died down.

“Okay fine, I’ll go prepare you something to eat but please, stop making this faces else I might die of laughter here.”

“Yeah, please go now cause I can’t wait to have a taste of a food prepared by you.”

“I’ll be right back.” Diana left for the kitchen.

AN HOUR LATER*

“It was fun having you around.” Diana confessed truthfully as she escorted Wayne back to his car.

“Same here.” Wayne smiled at her and she smiled back. They maintained eye contact for some seconds before Diana broke it.

“You should be on your way, I mean it’s getting late.” She chuckled nervously. She was beginning to feel uncomfortable.

“Yeah, I will go now, see you some other time.” Wayne said and entered his car. He waved at her and drove away.

Diana stood rooted to her position, staring at his retreating car.

She sighed and went back inside after a few seconds had passed.

She turned off the TV and decided to go check up on Tihana.

“Hey! You’re awake.” She sat on the bed beside her.

“Yeah and I think I feel much better now.” Tihana replied hoarsely.

“Oh!” Diana breathed out.

“Concerning that, I have something to tell you but before I do, let me get you something to eat first.” Diana stood up and left.

Tihana took out the picture she had quickly hid when she heard Diana’s footsteps.

It was her mother’s picture. She missed her mother even more and wished she could come back to her.

A tear rolled down her cheeks and fell on it.

“Why did you do this Blossom?” Mr Norman questioned his daughter and just like what has been happening for two minutes now, she remained silent.

“Why Blossom? Answer me.” He said again with a pained voice.

“What do you want me to say? I saw you here and hoped you would get me out immediately but here you are asking me unnecessary question.” Blossom blurted out and scoffed.

“It isn’t unnecessary dear, I need to be sure you didn’t do what they accused you of, I just…”

“And what if I actually did it?” Blossom cut her dad off before he could complete his statement.

“What if I actually drugged Aiden just to sleep with him and get pregnant for him? Huh?”

“Honey, do you know the consequences of what you did? It might ruin the reputation that I’ve managed to build in years.”

“And do I look like I care about the damn reputation?” Blossom asked in a fragile tone. Her soul was beginning to break down.

“Is it my fault that I love Aiden and want him for myself? If only you had helped me when I needed it, would I have gone to this extreme?” Blossom threw questions at her dad, now in tears.

Mr Norman was rendered speechless as he only watched his daughter in a shock greater than the one he had when he heard it from the colonel.

“You claim to love me but you rarely prove it and now, you’re blaming me for what happened.” More tears continued to stream down Blossom’s eyes that if her father wasn’t in shock right now, he would have promised her the world just so she would stop crying.

She whimpered as she made her head rest on her handcuffed hands on the table.

Her dad quietly stood up, and without saying a word, he left.

“You should be ashamed of yourself Blossom.” Nanny Grace lashed out in anger.

She has been sitting there the whole time and watched everything that happened but didn’t interfere because it was a father and a daughter conversation.© 2024 Nôv/el/Dram/a.Org.

“You did the wrong thing and yet, you’re making yourself look like the victim. This wasn’t how I raised you up to be and this wasn’t what your mother wanted either.” She said again before leaving to check up on Mr Norman.

Blossom raised up her teary face and somehow, what Nanny Grace told her touched her emotionally.

The warden came to her, seeing her visitors were gone and took her back to her cell.
