The President’s Mistake A Tale of Love and Regret

Chapter 281 The Truth About Killian and Valeria

Chapter 281 The Truth About Killian and Valeria

Charles's sneer was filled with malice. "Nathaniel's mother, Valeria, and your father, Killian, were once lovers. When Valeria fell for Zander, your father went mad. He caused a plane crash, killing Zander, and then imprisoned Valeria in the basement of the Gomez family's old house. Valeria eventually escaped with her son and never returned."

Frey felt a shiver. She had heard various versions of these events, but never this one about imprisonment.

Charles continued coldly, "Nathaniel hates your family. How could your father, who was obsessed with Valeria, have jumped to his death for Nathaniel or to protect your family?"

Frey clenched her fists.All rights © NôvelDrama.Org.

"Frey," Charles's eyes narrowed with malice, "you should check the basement of the Gomez family's house. You might find something interesting." Frey's face went pale. Peyton noticed her friend's distress and hurried over.

"Frey!"

Frey shook herself out of her daze. "It's okay, let's go."

Peyton took Frey to the tea shop and made her a hot drink. Frey felt somewhat better after drinking it.

But Charles's words kept echoing in her mind. Nathaniel had once told her that her father had chosen to die to placate Nathaniel's anger and save their family. What if her father had never cared for them at all?

She remembered the HR manager from Technologent Group saying that Nathaniel was the only one present in her father's office when her father died. Nathaniel would never tell her what truly happened that night.

As another group arrived at the cemetery, Charles remained by his son's tombstone for several hours before finally leaving. Life had to move on despite the dead.

The cemetery's chill was soon interrupted when Nathaniel, accompanied by Koen and others arrived at Jacob's tombstone. With New Year's approaching, Saeville's winter was nearly over, but the air remained bitterly cold.

Nathaniel placed a large bouquet of white chrysanthemums on Jacob's tombstone. Once close friends, they were now separated by death.

He stood silently as his entourage watched quietly. It wasn't until dusk that Nathaniel left the cemetery.

Frey had been in a low mood lately. The designers at Andala Corp were cautious around her, as she had expressed her frustration over design drafts multiple times.

Mandy noticed Frey's deteriorating condition and suggested she take a short vacation so she could handle some urgent tasks from home.

Frey remained at home for three days, living in a state of neglect. She ordered takeout, stayed in bed, watched TV dramas, played games, and read books, neglecting even basic self-care.

Eventually, she could no longer bear her unproductive days and decided to visit the Gomez Mansion's basement.

It was New Year's Eve. The streets were bustling with people, many gathered at the beach to celebrate with fireworks.

Peyton, knowing Frey had been

struggling, called her. "Frey, come out and join us. I'm closing the shop today and giving the staff a day off. Everyone is heading to The O Esplanade for New Year's Eve."
