Chapter 6
Chapter 6
Freya gritted her teeth, and she ignored the cramping sensations in her stomach.
She climbed toward the first man; everyone surrounding her was mocking and laughing at her. Peyton was shouting and crying, but someone covered up her mouth. She was wailing miserably.
Freya felt terrible, but she had to do it no matter what.
Peyton was not supposed to be involved, but she accidentally dragged her into this mess. She had a guilty conscience.
She can't imagine what would happen to Peyton if she ran away.
She had nothing to lose anymore, so she could bring herself to obey their instructions. All it mattered to her was for Peyton to leave safely.
Freya slowly crawled on the hard and icy floor tiles. She was shivering from her knee pain.
She crawled over the legs of the first man, and she kneeled as she drank the first glass. Her hands were trembling badly, but she still forced herself to finish it.
She felt the burning sensation in her stomach, and she suddenly laid on the floor and spit a mouthful of blood.
"Fay!" Peyton broke free, but she was being kicked to the ground; she groaned in pain.
"Don't hit her; I'll drink it! I'll drink it!" Freya felt that she was out of breath, and she had tinnitus. She glanced miserably at the surroundings, and there was fringe.
Robert slapped his thighs and said, "Ha, ha! This is so fun!"
"Is the wine good?"
Freya forced a smile, and she answered, "Yes, thank you, Mr. Reeves!"
"Ha, ha! You're so worthless! Shake your butt like a dog! Do it now!" He slammed a pile of money onto Freya's desk.
At the top floor of the Red Shift, the customers were not allowed to step foot on this floor. It was a private room, but it was more like a small bar; there were various famous wines being displayed in the cabinet.
Several men with extraordinary identities were sitting on the black leather sofa; this was Nathaniel's private space to have a business meeting. The ones who were allowed to be here were usually his best friends, even though his biggest customer might not have the honor to be here.
Compared to the noisy atmosphere, the floor was rather quiet.
Nathaniel did not seem like his usual self tonight; his face was grumpy as if something big were happening.
"The government of East Savannah intends to do an island reclamation project. If we can get this project, our future will be bright." A young man in a silver-gray suit smiled at Nathaniel.
Kayden Brown was the largest real estate developer in Saeville; he was being brought back to the country by Nathaniel. Nobody knew that Nathaniel actually held sixty percent of the shares of the company owned by the Brown family. Hence, Kayden could actually be considered his worker.
"Should we set up a company? I can be running it." Another handsome man in a motorcycle suit and earrings agreed with a smile. He was a financial tycoon in Saeville; his name was Xavier, and his nickname was Knuckles. He was Nathaniel's trader.
Years ago, Nathaniel managed to decipher and steal the Omnilert Group account password with his help. They stole a lot of confidential information without being caught.
With Nathaniel's set-up, he completely defeated and ruined the Gomez family.
Kayden and Xavier were happily discussing the blueprint for the development of the Morgan family's business.
Jacob was the only one keeping his thoughts to himself; he stared into the night sky blankly.
Nathaniel was sitting still with a glass of wine in his hand; nobody could tell what he was thinking judging by his look.
Suddenly, there was a careful knock on the door; everyone shifted their attention to the door.
It was so weird; usually no one would dare interrupt Nathaniel's gathering. Is someone having a death wish?
Della's voice came from the door. "M… Mr. Morgan, Mr. Morgan!" This text is property of Nô/velD/rama.Org.
Nathaniel frowned and answered, "Come in!"
Della carefully pushed the door open and walked in; she was holding a tablet in her hand that was connected to the intranet. The security camera was showing the situation in that private room.
She had to reach out to him because she was afraid that woman might be severely injured or even die in this incident.
There might be customers who played too wild in the Red Shift, but none of their lives were harmed back then. After all, none of them dared to mess with the owner of the Red Shift.
Usually, she would try to reason with the customers, and they would let the women off the hook.
This time, she knew that Nathaniel deliberately wanted to torture that woman. But she was a very smart woman; she could tell that Nathaniel did not want her dead.
If that woman was really dead, she would definitely take the fall.
After thinking about it, she gathered her courage and came to him.
"Mr. Morgan, she's in a critical situation now! Mr. Morgan!" She was saying it anxiously, and she put the tablet on the table in front of him.
Nathaniel looked at the real-time monitoring screen on the tablet. He was stunned for a while, and then his face crumpled.
At that moment, Freya had already crawled under a man's legs, and she was vomiting non-stop on the ground after gulping a glass of wine.
Everyone was taken aback seeing the screen; Kayden and Xavier also heard about Freya running into Nathaniel after getting out of prison.
They could understand that Nathaniel may want to vent out on this woman, but seeing what was happening in front of them, they felt that the ruthless Nathaniel might have gone too far this time.
The grievances between the Gomez family and the Morgan family happened in the older generation; Freya was actually oblivious to what had happened. She was unlucky to fall in love with Nathaniel.
The Gomez family is ruined; Freya was jailed, and her hand is disabled. So, it's pretty unnecessary to torture her anymore, isn't it?
The two of them looked at Nathaniel; they wanted to persuade him, but he had a murderous look on his face now.
They chose to keep their mouths shut.
Nathaniel stared hard at that tiny and trembling figure; he was sitting still, and his body tensed up.
He took a breath and was about to get up. But someone stood up and dashed toward the door; it was Jacob with a darkened face.
Nathaniel froze on the spot, and he frowned, looking at Jacob leaving.
Kayden and Xavier gasped; they could not understand Jacob's intentions.
After all, Freya was Nathaniel's fiancée, not his.
In room 607, Freya had already drunk three glasses of wine; her vision was getting blurry.
The noises of the surrounding area were somewhat drifting away; she realized that people could actually be numb when they were in extreme pain. She felt that she was dying, and she actually felt relieved.
It may be good for me to die now, and then I won't feel this pain anymore.
Suddenly, the door of the private room was flung open. And she could hear people groaning as they were beating.
She did not have the strength to look back to see who was saving her.
Before she lost consciousness, she heard a familiar male's voice.
"Freya! Are you alright? Freya!"
Jacob and Nathaniel once fought in the underground boxing arena in the Chinatown of Mypos. He had beaten the man badly for letting Freya crawl in between his legs.
Robert was so shocked for Jacob to protect such an ugly woman.
It doesn't make sense! This woman is so ugly; Mr. Rivera's taste shouldn't be that bad, right?
Emma, the culprit behind this incident, screamed as she saw Jacob vigorously beat the man.
Jacob did not have the time to teach the rest of them a lesson, so he bent down and picked up the unconscious Freya. He froze after carrying her in his arms.
He did not expect her to be this light; only a malnourished person could have such weight.
His face crumpled, and he rushed out of room 607 with her in his arms. Nathaniel blocked his way at the door.
He looked coldly at Jacob, and he stared at Freya in his arms. He was getting emotional.
