Chapter 102 Performance

Miriam’s heart suddenly beat quickly, and her body tensed up.

However, the hand on her waist did not move.

Miriam held her breath and turned around slowly. She saw that Lamont had fallen into a deep sleep, and his breath had stabilized.

She sighed with disappointment and felt ashamed of her thoughts.

Miriam wiped Lamont’s face and hands with a wet towel. After taking off his shirt and pants, Miriam took the blanket and curled up in the corner of the sofa.

Although she liked Lamont, she was not the kind of woman who would play lowly

tricks.

“Uh…”

Lamont opened his eyes and felt a splitting headache.

He licked his dry lips and was stunned for a few seconds before he realized that he was

not in his home.

Lamont sat up suddenly. The sunlight that shone through the gap between the curtains allowed him to see the furnishings in the room.

Could it be…

He threw the quilt and found that he was almost naked. Only underwear was on him!

“Are

you

awake?”

The voice pulled Lamont out of his conjecture. Lamont looked up. Miriam was leaning

against the door frame in her pajamas. Her long hair was loosely tied together on her shoulder. Because of the toothbrush in her mouth, she couldn’t speak clearly.

Lamont had never faced such a situation before. Under his calm expression was hidden surprise.

He remembered that he should have gone out to drink last night. Why was he in Miriam’s home?

“I… I didn’t do anything last night, did I?”

“No. I saw you drunk in the bar last night. You couldn’t answer my question when I

asked you about the location of your home. So, I brought you back.”

“Oh…”

Lamont was still confused. After thinking about it, he did not ask more.

“Get up and have breakfast. I’ve made it.”

Miriam left with a mug, leaving Lamont in a daze on the bed.

Damn it!

What did I do last night?

Lamont cursed inwardly and rubbed his temples. He quickly got up from the bed, put on

his clothes, and went outside the bedroom.

Miriam’s place was not like the big house of the Byron family. It was small and decorated in a reserved style. Although the open–style kitchen looked a little messy, it

could make the aroma of toast fill the whole apartment.

“I don’t know what you have for breakfast. I have always had bread with jam. Mr. Byron, do you want to warm milk or coffee?”

“Milk is OK.”

Sitting on the small chair in the dining room, Lamont felt at ease.

The talk show was playing on the TV, and Lamont and Miriam sat around the dining

table to eat breakfast.

Although it was a bit awkward, Miriam had to admit that the scene was the home she

dreamed of.

“I’m done eating. I’ll be leaving.”

Lamont had no intention of staying longer to talk to Miriam, and he left directly after breakfast.

The case of Macey was basically finished, and Oakland was temporarily peaceful.

Half a month later, the performance in Oakland began smoothly.

“Ms. Mullen, the coach is here. Let’s go quickly.”

Belen stepped into the coach with one foot and shouted at Amelie with the phone in her

hand.

“I’m coming. Don’t worry. I have to arrange the work for them first.”

Amelie trotted into the elevator and finally got into the coach.

“The performance this time is so special.”

Luciana sat in the front row with excitement. The coach was driving away from the city

at a high speed. The scenery outside the window changed from tall buildings made of reinforced concrete to rural houses covered with tiles.

“That’s right. It’s a performance for children in the countryside. Why didn’t you inform

us in advance?”

Some of the staff from the logistics department were dissatisfied and complained in the

back row.

“Enough. Are you done?” Amelie clapped her hands to stop their muttering. “Anyway, this is a chance for the entertainers to train. What’s bad about being in the countryside? The air is fresh, and the entertainers can sing better.”

In an instant, the coach quieted down. Even if someone was dissatisfied, they would

keep it in their hearts.

After more than an hour of driving, everyone was sleepy. Finally, the driver shouted,

“We’re here!”

“Look! How beautiful the field is!”

Akira pointed to a field outside the window and shouted excitedly.

Since she was a child, she had lived on a farm with her grandparents. Thus, she was fond of such rural scenery.

“Let’s go.

We can enjoy it after the performance.” Luciana dragged Akira’s arm and walked forward.

Amelie looked around casually. Although it was a rural area, it was more appropriate to call it an urban countryside.

The performance venue prepared by the director was a large auditorium with two floors, which was enough to accommodate a lot of people.

“Ms. Mullen, we will go and prepare ourselves. If you and Belen need help, just call us.”

Luciana and the other three people ran backstage. The entertainers from other

companies also arrived and swarmed backstage. Original content from NôvelDrama.Org.

“Ms. Longfellow!”

Amelie saw Mckenna in the crowd at a glance. Because Mckenna recommended the chance to Starry Sea Entertainment, Amelie was grateful when she met Mckenna.

“Ms. Mullen.”

Mckenna turned around and greeted Amelie and secretly admired Amelie’s ability in her

heart.

Mckenna was willing to cooperate with Starry Sea Entertainment for two reasons. First, she wanted to do a favor to the Mullen family. Second, she wanted to repay Amelie’s kindness. Originally, Mckenna did not have much hope for Starry Sea Entertainment, a company that was almost on the verge of decline.

Unexpectedly, Amelie was more capable than Mckenna had imagined. Now, Starry Sea Entertainment became the top entertainment company in Oakland. The people in the entertainment industry were all discussing the investment of the Capet family.

“Don’t stand on ceremony, Ms. Longfellow. If not for your recommendation, how could we get the opportunity to come here? Just call me Amelie.”

“You are still as modest as ever. As expected of the most precious daughter of Mr.

Mullen.”

They chatted on and off as they watched the staff members who came and went to check the scene hurriedly.

“Alright, I think they are almost done preparing. Let’s go to the VIP seats and sit there.

The audience will arrive in a while.”

Amelie responded and took their seats in the front row.

Starry Sea Entertainment was responsible for two opening programs, and the four entertainers performed very well. The applause under the stage never stopped.

Amelie was just about to leave her seat and go backstage to praise them when an unfamiliar staff member stopped her.

“Hello, this is a lady who asked me to give it to you. She said that she has something to discuss with you in the back garden.”

“Uh…” Amelie was a little hesitant. Apart from the people from Starry Sea

Entertainment, she did not know anyone there. How could someone come to talk to her

for no reason?

But what if the person intended to talk about cooperation?

Amelie thought about it for a while and decided to go to the back garden to take a look.
