A Chapter 33
Mabel was about to stop Noelle when she heard the sound of a car engine outside.
She immediately darted downstairs. "Mr. Freeman, you need to see what's going on. I don't know what Mrs. Freeman is thinking again. She packed all her stuff and seemed ready to leave!"
Hendrix didn't seem surprised by her words. Instead, he looked up and saw Noelle carrying her stuff down the
stairs.
His gaze shifted from her suitcase and slowly to her cheek, where a handprint was visible. She didn't dodge his gaze and asked, "When are we proceeding with the procedure?"
"I've informed the lawyer to come over." Hendrix finally withdrew his gaze and continued forward.noveldrama
Noelle quickly replied, "That won't be necessary. I'm leaving with nothing."
He froze while ascending the stairs when he heard her statement. He cocked his head at her and said, "Even if you're walking away with nothing, you still need to sign the agreement.""
Noelle understood his meaning and no longer refuted him.
Meanwhile, Mabel finally made sense of the situation "Mr. Freeman, are you two... getting a divorce?" Neither of them responded to her. Hendrix headed upstairs without another word, while Noelle brought her suitcase to the foyer, sat on it, and lowered her head to check her phone.
After digesting the new piece of information, Mabel snapped back to reality and made a phone call to Beatrice. The latter said something, and the former simply grunted lightly and ended the call.
Although Noelle couldn't hear Beatrice, she could tell from Mabel's demeanor that Beatrice had agreed to the divorce. It wasn't shocking news, but Noelle heaved a breath of relief.
Soon, Hendrix's lawyer arrived with the divorce agreement As per Noelle's request, the agreement stipulated that she would leave with nothing.
Of course, she was never after anything from Hendrix to begin with. Without hesitation, she signed the agreement.
"Mr. Freeman, I've made an appointment at the courthouse at 10:00 am tomorrow," said the lawyer. Noelle nodded and looked at Hendrix. "Am I free to go now?"
After tossing his copy of the divorce agreement into his drawer, he replied with a light grunt.
Noelle then left without further hesitation.
That said, she couldn't help but stop when she arrived at the door. She turned around and looked at Hendrix.
He had already begun discussing company matters with his lawyer as if the agreement he had just signed was nothing more than one of the thousands of transactions he routinely handled.
Ultimately, Noelle suppressed the words she intended to say, turned around, and quietly exited his study. The sound of the cab's engine echoed outside and slowly faded away. Hendrix suddenly stopped speaking
The lawyer looked perplexedly at him. "Mr. Freeman?"
"That'll be all. Everything else remains unchanged," he replied.
"Alright. I'll... see you tomorrow."
Hendrix responded with a grunt.
Once his lawyer left, he lit a cigarette from the desk. Holding the lighter, he stared at the engraved words, and suddenly, memories of Noelle's birthday gift from two years ago came flooding back.
