The Sway and Slide of Love

Chapter 35

"Be serious." Evelyn rolled her eyes. "You're supposed to be depicting a feel-good romance-all sweet and healing! If we publish this version, you and I are going to feel our readers' wrath.

"You know what? Take a break and clear your mind. I'll give you a two-week leave. Once you get yourself together, redraw it."

Noelle could sense how adamant Evelyn was and no longer refuted her.

Evelyn cast a few glances at her and asked, "So, why did you divorce your husband?

"Wasn't your life just fine? Your meals were all taken care of, you had an unlimited credit card, and your husband gave you freedom-that's the dream, babe!"

Noelle left her questions unanswered. She placed her books on the shelf and turned to Evelyn. "You haven't eaten, have you? Let me treat you to a meal."

Lavender Grove was the famous money pit of Coppersville, where only the most prominent figures in the circle were received. All customers required a membership card to enter.

Sandra rarely came to places like this. After all, it clashed with her public persona. Yet, tonight, shenoveldrama

appeared here because of the man sitting in the center of the couch.

As the key figure in the social circle, the news of Hendrix and Noelle's divorce quickly spread. The gathering tonight was to "celebrate" his status as a single man.

Though Hendrix had an aloof personality, he wasn't arrogant and indifferent. As such, he didn't refuse the gathering when his friends proposed it.

As soon as Sandra entered the private room, she was swarmed with questions. "Sandra, did your sister really divorce Hendrix?"

They dared not pester him, so they started gossiping with her.

Sandra nodded slowly in response.

They sneered. "She went to such lengths to marry Hendrix back then. Now, she's letting go of him just like that?"

"I was shocked, too." Sandra displayed innocence. "They were just fine the other day..."

"I bet Noelle was the one who messed up."

Another person chimed in with a laugh. "She probably wanted to throw a tantrum but didn't expect Mr. Freeman not to give a crap at all. In the end, he agreed to the divorce

"Be honest with me, Sandy. Is she crying her eyes out at home now?"

"I don't know." Sandra shook her head. "Noelle came home and had a fight with Mom and Dad. Then... she never

returned."

"Huh? She didn't? Where has she been?"

"I don't know, either. I'm worried sick." Sandra slowly averted her gaze to Hendrix and cautiously asked, "Hen.. Rix, do you know where Noelle went? She hasn't been coming home, and my parents are worried about her!"

Hendrix sat there, holding a glass of wine.
