Chapter 136
When we got to school I saw Avery sitting on the chairs out the front of school staring off into
space.
I walked over to her but when she didn't hear me, I snapped my fingers in front of her face to get her attention.
"Oh, Emma. Sorry." She said, coming back to reality.
"Hi. Is everything alright?" I asked.
"Yeah. It's all great." She said."
"Don't lie to me." I said. And she turned a little further to see Noah standing behind me. "Don't worry about him either." I said.
"Is that your new personal security?" She asked.
"It is. But we're not talking about that." I said. And she started nodding her head.
"I know. It's nothing you need to worry about. Really." She said standing up. She gave me a smile, but I could tell that it was fake and we walked inside the school building together. After we got our books out of our lockers we headed towards our first class.
"Are you busy tonight?" Avery asked.
"I've just got a lot of paperwork to go through. But it can wait."
"It's not important?" She asked.
"No. Trying to pick new members for the pack isn't important. At least not to me." I said.
"Fair enough. Do you want to go to the club tonight? I don't think Lexie or Jacob will mind
since they already know." She said.
"Maybe. Have you spoken to Chloe?"
"Yeah. She can't make it." Avery said. And I turned to see Noah leaning against the wall on the other side of the hallway.
"Are you going to be a pain in the ass if I go out tonight?" I asked.
"Well, I will be coming with you. But I'll stay out of your hair. As long as no one tries anything."
Noah said.
"I guess I'm in then." I said.

"Great." She said.
"Actually, I haven't seen Chloe since yesterday. I don't know what the hell she's been doing." I said.
"Yeah. I'm not sure either. I just messaged her this morning and she said that she couldn't make it."
"That's fair enough. Well, I'm in." I said.
So we started walking down the hallway towards our class and Avery kept looking over her shoulder to see how far away Noah was staying from us. And he was being respectful enough
to stand back enough so that he couldn't hear us talking.
"So, what's his story?" Avery asked.
"What story? He's just my new personal guard." I said.
"I know. But does he have a mate or anything like that?" She asked.
"Not that I know of. I actually don't know. He doesn't talk about his personal life." I said.
"Well, you two seem to be getting on pretty good together." She said.
"Yeah. He's a nice guy." I said.
"Really? After Lucas and Levi?" She asked.
"Oh, no. Nothing like that. I am done with guys like that for a while."
"That's what I thought. So, why haven't you asked him about his family? Maybe he's got a
mate and kids."
"I don't know. If he does then he doesn't see them. He sleeps in the castle and he's there alone.
No family with him. He follows me everywhere." I explained.
"Must be single then." She said.
"Yeah. I guess he must be." I said.
When we got to our first class, it was all the same kids except for Hazel. She hadn't come back yet so this class might actually be pretty quiet.
Levi was standing by the window of the room with his friends but I only glanced at him before I looked away and I sat in the back row, where I always sat.
Noah stayed outside the classroom. But first he had to check out all the students that were in the classroom and he then checked out all the ones that were coming into the class after I did.

He didn't actually talk to them. He just made a mental note of everyone in the room.
I noticed that his eyes lingered on Levi for a while.
He obviously did his homework and I doubt that Chloe telling him about Lucas and Levi would
have even mattered. I'm sure he would have found out anyway. It's his job.
Before the teacher got to the classroom I pulled out my phone and went into Chloe's messages.
ME- Hey. Going out tonight. Want you to come. Let me know.
I put my phone away after that and I would wait and see if she messaged back.
I went the whole rest of the day without hearing back from Chloe and after school I had to go and train the kids at a different training field.
I paired them up and started teaching them a little hand to hand combat. It was time that they started learning that stuff.
Noah stood back watching while I was working with the kids and I had to go around and make sure that they all had the proper stance and make sure that they were moving properly as they tried to throw a punch.
Obviously they weren't throwing hard punches at each other. I wasn't even letting them make contact with their partners yet. They just needed to know the proper technique.
After that I grabbed all of my stuff and put it in my bag and Noah and I started walking through town again.
"Do you want me to have a word with that guy?" Noah asked, looking at Lucas who was standing at the park watching us this time.
"Don't bother. He'll move on eventually. When he realizes that he completely blew it." I said.
"Yeah. Well, he's making me uncomfortable and that's not easy to do. I really want to say something to him." Noah said.
"Hey. Don't worry about him. He's not going to do anything. Especially not with you hovering
around me." I scoffed.
We were talking and getting along really well now as we were walking back to the castle and we walked into the village first.
I wanted to check to make sure that everyone was doing alright since Felix was killed and they actually looked a lot happier.
They came to greet me and I was happy to talk to them. But I didn't stay for too long. I just 3/5

wanted to make sure that they were doing alright.
When Noah and I got back to the castle I looked around the bottom floor looking for Chloe, but she wasn't there.
I went up to my room and I put my bag on the floor and I grabbed my phone.
"Hello." Lexie answered.
"Hey. It's me. I was just wondering where you guys are. I haven't seen you today." I said.
"Oh yeah. Jacob and I have had a few things to do. But we have been thinking about moving
back to our house. It's closer to Chloe's school." She said.Upstodatee from Novel(D)ra/m/a.O(r)g
"Aren't you meant to be staying here to keep an eye on me?"
"Well, you've got Anna and Noah there. I don't think you need us there."
"Alright. If you think that's best. Is Chloe there?" I asked.
"No. Not at the moment." She said.
"Okay. Well, I'll talk to you later."
When I got off the phone with Lexie I definitely knew that something was going on. That wasn't like her at all. So I walked to the room next to mine and started knocking.
"Is everything alright?" Noah asked.
"I don't know. You have a car right?" I asked.
"Yeah. Why?" He asked.
"Because I want you to drive me to Chloe's house. I'm guessing you know where that is."
"I do." He said.
So he grabbed his keys and we walked all the way downstairs of the castle and then the stairs outside and we went around the side to get in Noah's car and he drove us to the other little town that Chloe lived in which was about 40 minutes away from the castle.
As soon as I got there I noticed that the car wasn't there. So I walked around the side of the house to where Chloe's bedroom was.
That's when I heard talking in her room.
"I can't do this. She's been hurt enough. How the hell am I going to tell her that us two are
mates?" Chloe asked.
So I looked in the window and I saw Levi in there with her.

"Well, we didn't know that we were mates until yesterday when I turned 18." Levi said.
I felt like I had been kicked in the stomach. Like it was another huge betrayal by someone that
I trusted with my life.
"Listen, we're mates. Emma is just gonna have to live with that." Levi said.
"She's my best friend. I don't want to lose her." Chloe said.
"I know you don't. We can wait until things calm down before we tell her." Levi said, walking over and hugging her.
I backed away from the window and I stumbled down the side of the house until I got back to the car.
"What happened?" Noah asked.
"Take me home." I demanded as I got in the car.
