The Woman From Hell

Chapter 2590

"shouldn't you apologize for barging in so suddenly, President Lane?" Silas looked at me with sharp eyes.

That gaze of his was clearly mocking me.

I gulped, my throat feeling itchy. I was unable to utter a word for a long time.

The people present included Silas, Marius, Sylvester, and some others who I did not know.

Wait, if they were celebrating here, how could Theo not be present?

Just when I thought of this, Theo's voice came from behind me. "Apologies for my tardiness."

I closed my eyes. What one feared would eventually make its appearance. His arrival had been quite coincidental.

Theo walked past me and entered the room, taking a seat at his place. It was only then that I realized that their seats were particular to each other. Theo was able to locate his own without even looking for it. "How long do you plan to drag this out, President Lane?" Silas' voice sounded again.

I pursed my dry lips. Beside me, Shannon tugged on my sleeve as if signaling me to leave immediately and asking why I should care about their opinions.

I wanted to do that too, but I could not. I would undoubtedly give Silas more leverage if I did.

After saying that, I pulled Shannon and was about to leave, yet who would have thought that Silas would speak again?

"I don't think an apology is enough. Why don't you carry out a punishment of three glasses of alcohol, President Lane?"

Now I understood how Silas had forced my mother back then.

I looked at his face that was clearly wrinkled. Every line was made of majesty, revealing hostility.

He wanted revenge.

This thought flashed through my mind.

Silas had always been petty, always needing to retaliate. He was presumably in want of me to know the consequences of offending him. It was why he was being so unforgiving now.

I looked down at the table. They were drinking white wine.

I was afraid that I might not be able to hold down three glasses of wine.

Silas did not care about me, however. He just wanted to let me know how powerful he was.

"Do you not have even an ounce of sincerity, President Lane?"

"I accept."

Hearing my answer, Shannon gripped my hand tightly. "Wanda, don't force yourself."

"It's alright." I patted Shannon's hand to console her.

I picked up the wine glass before him. "First "

I downed the contents.

As I seldom drank alcohol, I choked on the burning sensation. I coughed a few times, only to see Silas sneer. It looked like he was mocking me.

Reluctant, I poured myself a second glass and drank it again. It felt better this time than before. At least I was not choking anymore.

Just when I poured myself the third

glass and was about to drink it, Marius stopped me. "I'll drink the third glass for you, President Lane. Consider it an apology to you."

I swatted his hand away, my expression indifferent. "There's no need for that. I accept your kindness, President Klein, but I'll drink the wine myself."

I threw my head back and downed the last glass before putting it down.

My gaze unintentionally fell on Theo, and he looked expressionless.

Silas' amusement came from the side. "You're a good drinker, President Lane."

"I've drunk the wine and said my apologies. I can leave now right?"

"Be careful on your way, President Lane."

I covered my mouth and turned

around before running out of the et

private room. Shannon followed me and kept calling my name. "Are you alright, Wanda?"

Running into the bathroom, I vomited. My stomach was overwhelmed and in discomfort. Shannon followed in and patted my back. "Why did you do that?"

"How could I let them make fun of me?"
