Chapter 340
Chapter 340
Aiden quickly whipped out a handkerchief and wiped away his little brother’s tears. “Stop crying, I’m working on a plan.”
“But when will you come up with a solution? Why don’t we just go and find mom?”
Aiden sighed, wishing it was that simple.
“But we’re so far from Dad’s company, We’re in a private villa area; we can’t find a taxi around here. We’d have to walk all the way to the city center, and that would take a long time. Grandma would definitely notice if I went missing.”
“I don’t care, and I just want to see Mom!” Seeing that Aiden didn’t have any answers, his emotions started to crumble.
“Right now, Grandma doesn’t know we’re planning to run away. We should try to trick her, then sneak out to find Mom. We can’t be rash; we need a solid plan.”
“Alright.” C0ntent © 2024 (N/ô)velDrama.Org.
“We can’t let Grandma get suspicious. Let’s go back to our room and do our homework. If she sees us studying, she won’t bother us. Then, we’ll pretend to go to sleep early tonight. We can leave once she thinks we’re asleep.”
Alex nodded and said, “Alright, I’ll do as you say.”
“At least this way, we won’t arouse any suspicion for a few hours. If we spend those hours walking, we should be able to reach the city center and find a taxi.”
“Okay, as long as I can see Mom, I’ll do as you say.”
Just as Alex finished speaking, Sophia came out from the living room. Seeing the two kids, she smiled and squatted down to pick up Alex, planting a kiss on his cheek. “Are you guys done with school?”
Aiden smiled politely. “Hello, grandma.”
“Oh, my good boys. Do you have a lot of homework today? Grandma wants to take you to meet someone. Is that okay?”
Aiden interrupted before Alex could say anything, fearing his brother might spill the beans. “We have a lot of homework today. Tomorrow our teacher said there’s a school activity. Can we go with you another day?”
Sophia paused, then smiled. “Sure, you guys, go do your homework. You’ll meet them eventually.”
Alex looked confused. “Who are we going to meet? Mom?”
Sophia knew exactly who he meant by ‘Mom, and her heart sank. “Alex, I need to tell you something. Clara won’t be your mom anymore. She ran off with another
man!”
“That’s impossible! How could mom run away? Didn’t she marry Dad? Did they get divorced?”
Aiden was taken aback. He tried to signal Alex to stop, but his brother was too engrossed in his own sorrow to pay attention.
“I don’t want Mom and Dad to get divorced, and I don’t want…”
“Honey, these are adult matters. You wouldn’t understand.”
“Yeah, bro, let’s not upset Grandma. Come on, let’s go do our homework. You didn’t finish yours yesterday, remember? The teacher said you have to make it up today.”
Aiden quickly grabbed Alex’s hand and made to leave, but Alex resisted. He wanted to tell the truth, but Aiden covered it before he could even open his mouth and dragged him away.
Back in their room, Alex angrily shook off his brother’s hand as soon as the door closed.
“Why didn’t you let me tell grandma?”
“You follow my lead, and we both keep our mouths shut.”
Alex pouted. “I just… I wanted to tell her…”
“And that might not do us any good. It could even harm Mom! Remember what she said? We can’t tell anyone, not even Dad, let alone Grandma!”
