Chapter 345
Chapter 345
“I’m starting to feel a bit beat. We should call it a night. It’s getting late, and isn’t it about time you hit the road, right?”
Elio paused momentarily, his face stiffening before he nodded, “Alright, just chill out here. If you need anything, let Nestor know, and he’ll get the word to me. I’ll do my best to meet your requests as long as you play ball.”
“I don’t really have any demands right now, just hoping if you hear anything about Leah, you could clue me in. After all, this whole situation isn’t just about Emmett, and it involves my two kids as well. I can’t just sit on my hands and do nothing!”
“Don’t worry, I’ve watched Alex grow up since he was a rugrat. I won’t let him walk into any danger. If push comes to shove, I’ll take him away. I won’t let Leah lay a finger on him.”
“The same goes for Aiden.” Clara quickly added, “If you can bring Alex to me, could you spring Aiden too?”
Elio nodded, “Sure thing, you’ve got my word.”
Clara stood still, watching Elio’s lonely figure disappear into the night.
She let out a soft sigh. If it weren’t for Leah’s high-handedness, Elia would still be the same old sunny, warm, straight-shooting yet kind-hearted Elio in her heart.
As night fell, Aiden ensured the house staff had all hit the sack before cautiously nudging the already sleeping Alex.
“Do you still want to go find mom?”
Alex rubbed his tired eyes, a bit bewildered as he nodded, “Right now?”
“Yes, come on, let’s make tracks, or we’ll miss our window! The next shift of guards will be taking over soon. Once they do, we’re totally screwed!”
Hearing this, Alex quickly sat up and grabbed his clothes to put on.
Aiden reluctantly helped him straighten out his clothes, “You’ve got it backward. Once we’re out there, you have to do exactly as I say. Don’t do anything rash! We can’t risk getting caught. If we do, everything we’ve done will be for nothing. Not only will we not find Mom, but we won’t get another shot at sneaking out!”
Alex nodded vigorously, “Okay, I’ll do whatever you say.”
Aiden grabbed his hand, “Alex, we’ve got to find Mom this time.”
“Yeah!” Contentt bel0ngs to N0ve/lDrâ/ma.O(r)g!
Soon, two small figures slipped out of the back door of the Melendez family’s mansion.
Sure enough, as they started to make their escape, several guards came to the back door.
Usually, guards would be stationed at the back door after 10 p.m., so Aiden chose to make their move just after 9 p.m.
This way, he could ensure that their grandparents were already asleep, and they could avoid the house staff since most of them would be off duty by 9 p.m.
Aside from the few on duty at the gate, the others were gone.
Alex spoke softly from behind Aiden, “Bro, this is so thrilling. I feel like I’m a superhero or a detective or something.”
Aiden glanced at his younger brother helplessly, “Are you seriously cracking jokes right now? Getting out of there was just the first step. We’ve got a long road ahead, so you can’t just stop when you’re tired!”
“Don’t worry, didn’t you pack candies? As long as I have candies, I can keep going.”
Aiden felt like rolling his eyes. How could such a huge difference exist between him and his brother, who shared the same parents?
He quickly pulled a candy out of his pocket and handed it to Alex, then took out his phone to check the route.
