Chapter 19 The Truth
Chapter 19 The Truth
Jerry lifted his cane and knocked it against the ground. After knocking for a while, he whispered, "Luna
has always been your only love, right?"
Brodie remained silent.
"You love her, even if she betrayed you," Jerry said.
His conclusion was the truth.
"Bastard, you aren't worthy of Ariana! She has done so much for you. For you..."Jerry got angry.
"Mr. Covey, perhaps you're too old to tell the good from the bad. Do you think you can hide your affair
and illegitimate daughter just by driving Jessica out of the country? I bet you still don't know that she
exchanged Luna for Ariana. She did it, so Jessica could be better-off. You and your wife are Luna's
biological parents!"
Brodie struck Jerry dumb just in a few words. Jerry said in disbelief, "This ... This is impossible."
"That's the truth. Ariana already knew that she's Jessica's daughter. She has been hiding it from you,
hasn't she?"
...
After Jerry left, Brodie called Steve. "Get the car ready. We'll go to the detention center."
It was raining heavily and the rain was drumming against the ground. Brodie carried a wet umbrella and
approached Ariana from afar.
When Ariana was brought out by the officers of the detention center, she saw Brodie walking towards
her at a steady pace.Text content © NôvelDrama.Org.
Ariana always found the way he walked attractive.
It was not just the elegance of his gait, but also the calmness he carried, as if he could silence the
entire world and everything would come to a halt because of his arrival. She couldn't help staring at
him.
All grievances surged up within her, engulfing her. Ariana's slightly bloated eyes reddened as she
whispered, "You came. Brodie, you're finally here. Believe me, I didn't do it. Luna's death has nothing to
do with me."
Ariana kept talking and wanted to tell Brodie all of her grievances. She wished she could tell him
everything she had gone through these days.
But Brodie was expressionless.
Yes.
Brodie barely showed his emotions before others, apart from Luna. He was so careful about sharing his
feelings that it was impossible for Ariana to detect even the slightest bit of them.
She knew that Brodie didn't marry her for love, that Brodie did not see her as his fiancée at all, and that
their marriage served another purpose. She never had the courage to ask why this self-made man
wanted to marry her.
Looking at this indifferent man, she felt strange and empty again. She panicked and said, "Dad said
that I ended up here because of you. You told the police that I was behind the killing of Luna. Why do
you think so? Why would I do that? It's all a misunderstanding!"
Brodie glared at her, not even wasting another second on their talk. He just asked, "Really?" Brodie
was always polite to her and never showed any unnecessary emotions, just as in the countless days
they had spent together.
He waved his hand, and behind him Steve played out all the relevant recordings.
Included were those about how she talked the patients into killing Luna, and her confession that she
was the illegitimate daughter not Luna.
Hearing this, Ariana went deathly pale.
Suddenly, she collapsed and shouted hysterically, "Oh no! Stop! Stop!"
