Unveiling the Genius Behind the Divorcee Chapter 157

Chapter 157 Get Started

Aylin and Robert exchanged glances, both well aware of who “those people” referred to.

Aylin lifted her chin, “Bring them in.”

The servants promptly opened the door, and Sariah walked in with a mournful expression on her face.

She had clearly freshened up a bit before coming, but it couldn’t hide the traces of her long and tiring journey. Her dark circles were so prominent that they almost reached her cheekbones, showing her extreme exhaustion.

It seems like they’ve been through quite a bit of hardship in the countryside.

Sariah was led in by the housekeeper and politely greeted Aylin, “Good evening, Aylin.”

Aylin’s expression was cold and indifferent. She didn’t even invite Sariah to sit down, nor did she glance at her. She just nonchalantly responded with a curt reply.

Only silence is the greatest contempt, and this behavior undoubtedly deeply hurt Sariah’s self-esteem.

Aylin, dressed in her dazzling and splendid attire, stood in front of her, making Sariah feel like a dull, grey potato in comparison. The huge contrast clenched Sariah’s fists in frustration.

Aylin ignored her and shifted her focus back to Robert.

Sariah’s eyes glistened as she squeezed out two teardrops, trying to get closer to Robert. “Ro, what are you looking at?”

Robert suddenly stood up, as if repelled by something filthy, and distanced himself. “Who do you think you are, Ro? You must be dreaming! Stay away from me!”

These words were spoken without any reservation, almost like a reprimand.

Sariah’s face flushed red and then turned pale, feeling extremely embarrassed.

She forced a smile and said, “Why doesn’t it count as Ro? Don’t we have some blood relation too? Why are you so heartless towards me…”

As she spoke, tears welled up in her eyes and streamed down her face, filled with sorrow. “You have no idea what my life has been like in the countryside. Aylin forces me to do chores, like cutting ragweed and chopping firewood, and I can’t even get enough to eat for three meals a day. I’m like your sister too, but I’ve never felt your concern for me.”

After she finished speaking, she looked at the man with a pitiful expression.

She considered herself not too shabby either. When she cried, her tears fell like raindrops on pear blossoms, making her the type of woman who could easily tug at a man’s heartstrings.

But no one knew.

“I know, you deserved it!”

Robert glanced at her coldly with his arms crossed, his mockery showing no courtesy, “Who told you to overestimate yourself and try to frame Aylin, coveting things that don’t belong to you?

I’m telling you, this is considered mild.

If it were up to me, I guarantee you’d never be able to return to New York in this lifetime!”

She was dumbfounded.

Sariah looked at Robert in disbelief. She thought that by crying, she could gain some sympathy from him. She had used this tactic on many men before, and it had always worked.

Ironically, Robert took a big tumble here!

Robert’s eyes were filled with disdain and contempt, “And, I only have one sister, Aylin. Don’t try to claim any sort of relationship with everything!”

After saying that, he worried that Aylin might be angry, so he gently coaxed her, “Aylin, in my heart, you are the only sister.”

That tender affection and gentle words were just like pampering the most beloved princess.

Sariah was rendered speechless.

A knife stabbed into her heart, and she suddenly felt that her treatment was even worse than that of a female housekeeper!

Why, why can’t she receive love and affection?

Sariah doesn’t understand!

During holidays and festivals in their childhood, the Koch family would gather together for lively celebrations, and Sariah would also be invited to join them in their house for meals and fun.

Back then, she was really envious of Aylin, who always had her brothers’ protection and support. At such a young age, Aylin received countless expensive gifts.

She could only stand by and watch.

The sons of the Gardner family were all gathered around Aylin, not even bothering to glance at her. Even when she tried to ingratiate herself with them, she couldn’t get a smile in return.

This incident had dealt her a great psychological blow. It wasn’t until Aylin died in an explosion that she felt she had finally turned her life around. However, just a few years into her good days, Aylin came back to life!

This bitch must be here to bring me bad luck!

Hatred grew wildly like vines, wrapping around Sariah’s entire heart. She wished she had a knife to kill Aylin right now!

I just can’t accept it, it’s so unfair! Why does Aylin get all the good things in life? Why does this despicable woman get to be adored by everyone?

She’s a girl too, so why can’t she have it!

Robert glanced at her with a face full of jealousy and hatred, as if his heart was higher than the sky. His once good-looking face was now twisted, truly disgusting.

He didn’t want to look at Sariah’s ugly face, so he poured a glass of water for Aylin. “It’s your show now, I won’t bother you anymore,” he said.

“If you need anything, just give me a shout. I’ll be upstairs.”

That couldn’t be clearer – it was a warning to Sariah not to mess around, or else she couldn’t blame him for showing no mercy!

Aylin understood Robert’s meaning and smiled warmly, “Don’t worry, you can go rest now.”

Robert’s figure disappeared at the stairway entrance, and the smile on Aylin’s face vanished completely, leaving her expression cold and frosty, like a thin layer of ice.

“You know where the bathroom is, so I don’t need to say more, right?” Aylin casually said as she fiddled with a porcelain decoration craft on the coffee table. “I’ll be waiting for the water to wash my feet.”

Sariah’s face stiffened. © 2024 Nôv/el/Dram/a.Org.

She looked at Aylin, her face changing from pale to flushed, and remained motionless for a long time.

Aylin wore a stunning satin blue dress adorned with intricate shattered diamond embellishments. Around her neck hung a sterling silver pendant with an engraved pattern from Yves Saint Laurent. Her smooth, silky black hair was styled in a low bun, making her look as if she had just stepped out of a painting.

Graceful and gorgeous, without losing her aura.

Looking at herself, she was wearing an ordinary short-sleeved shirt, hastily put on upon her return. Her face, which hadn’t been taken care of for a long time, appeared dull and lackluster, making her feel like an ugly duckling.

But how could she willingly accept being the ugly duckling!

At that time, Sariah agreed to Aylin’s request just as a delaying tactic. As long as she could return, who would really become a servant to wash her feet!

“Aylin, I just got back today.”

Sariah tried to make an excuse with a thick skinned face, “I’ve been working hard in the countryside and hurt my waist and legs. Now my whole body is sore and I can’t even bend down. It’s really inconvenient for me to fetch water, so let’s just forget about it..

Aylin already knew that she wasn’t the type to always keep her word. With a cold glance, she said, “Inconvenient? Then you should go back to the countryside and take care of your health. Return when

you’re well enough to wash your feet.

Malcom!”
