First anniversary, renewing the vows
“Morning sunshine.”
“Ah! What are you doing here?” Melissa covered her head with the blanket pushing Mark off the bed.
“Can’t I kiss my wife good morning anymore?” He asked, pulling the blanket which she held tightly.
“I told you it’s bad luck to see the bride on the wedding day.”
“We are already married, Melissa. It’s our first anniversary and we are only renewing our vows.” He kept trying to get her from the blanket.
“We are going to the church, so it’s like a wedding to me besides our whole family will be there. Can you go please, I’ll see you in church.” She said tightly covering her head.
“Okay, but can I get my morning kiss before I leave? Promise I’ll keep my eyes closed.” Insisting he leaned towards her.
Piping under the blanket, Melissa gazed at his handsome face.
With his eyes closed, for the first time she was able to admire his handsome features.
With her lips curved up, she looked from his thick eyebrows, and his straight nose to the lips that made her quiver every time they made contact with her bare skin.
“I’m still waiting.” He spoke getting closer.
Pulling down the blanket, Melissa lightly touched her lips to his but he leaned closer joining their lips, and deepened the kiss.
Her eyes closed, she moaned as he sucked and nibbled her lower lip causing electric ripples to run through her body. She quivered as her tongue touched his and his masculine fingers ran deep into her hair massaging her scalp.
“Mm, I’ve missed you so much.” He groaned, placing wet kisses along her neck while tugging down the strap of her lace nightgown.
“Oh Mark, stop. Mmm please stop, we have to get ready for the ceremony.”
“Relax, we still have some time…”
“Oh, my God! I’m so sorry. I’ll come back later.” Lisa said, closing the door as fast as she had opened it.
Startled by Lisa’s presence in the room, Melissa pushed Mark off her as she covered her face. “This is so embarrassing.”
“Ha ha, ops sorry. I forgot to close the door.” He muttered laughing at her reaction.
“Get out.” With the blanket over her head, she threw a pillow at him as he locked the door behind him.
….
After showering, Nancy and Lisa came to style her hair and help with the make-up while Jenifer sat enjoying herself.
“Lisa, can you stop giggling?” Melissa smacked the back of her hand.
“Ouch! I’m sorry, I just can’t unsee what I saw, and neither can I forget the expression on your face when I walked in on you.” She said, teasing her.
“Why, what did you see?” Nancy inquired trying to get every juice from her.
“It’s nothing, let’s concentrate on getting me ready.” Melissa firmly dismissed them. “Jenny honey, can you help me with the dress?” She requested glancing at Jenifer who was seated on the sofa.
“Mm, this is so yummy. Better than the one I usually buy.” Jenifer said enjoying the pie in her hand. “Hey stop, give it back, that’s mine.” Jenifer roared, rushing after Nancy when she took the plate from her.
“Jenny, how many of these have you eaten?” Nancy asked, holding the pie from her.
“The baby wants more, what can I do?” She said, pouting her mouth as tears shimmered in her eyes.
“Give back her pie or she will start crying again. My God, I never knew pregnancy was this hard.” Lisa said, walking to the closet to get Melissa’s dress.
“Jenifer you can’t indulge every time you feel like it, try to control yourself sweetie, okay? Too much won’t be good for your health and the baby.” Squatting beside her, Melissa coaxed taking away the plate.
“Okay then, can we talk about something fun to keep my mind off that pie staring at me.” Jenifer said standing up with Melissa’s support.
“Being in love makes you growl, I see it in all three of you. I should get myself a guy out there today.” Nancy voiced lightening up the mood.
“What happened to the date you had for today?” Lisa asked, going for her dress.
“What date? Nancy has a crush on Jason, she says no to every guy who asks her out.” Jenifer blurted then covered her mouth when she realized she had said too much.NôvelDrama.Org © 2024.
“Oh!” Melissa and Lisa said in unison.
“We are running out of time, they will get impatient waiting for us.” Nancy got herself ready ignoring their questioning stares.
Once they were all dressed, they walked to the sitting room joining the rest of the family who sat patiently waiting for Melissa to walk down the stairs.
“This is it, Melissa. Time to go meet the love of your life.” With a bright smile on her face and sparkling eyes staring back at her, she told Melissa on the other side of the mirror dressed in a pure white mermaid gown with a veil fixed over her head.
Putting on the gold earrings that belonged to her grandmother given by her grandfather, she looked more and more dashing.
Every step she took down the stairs in her white strapless heels while her son, aunt, brother, grandfather, and her three best friends watched her, felt so unreal.
A few months ago she thought her marriage was over but now she had another chance to celebrate her love with the whole family present. The family she never knew existed and the people who over the months have become so dear to her. They have held her hand in good and bad times, always supporting her and never judging her whenever she made a mistake.
“You look so beautiful dear.” Betty held her hand as they walked out. “This is a happy day dear, don’t shed any tears or you will spoil your makeup.” Feeling emotional Betty smiled, wiping Melissa’s face.
“Thank you aunt, for taking such good care of me and always supporting me.” Melissa hugged her aunt, getting emotional all over again as they drove to the church.
Walking down the aisle she looked from her grandfather to her brother beside her. His smile reminded her of their father. Having him beside her felt like her dad and mum were there as well.
Smiling back at him she wished her parents were still alive to hand her over in marriage. For them to witness the happiest day of her life.
“You are breathtakingly gorgeous.” Mark whispered to her while lifting the veil waking her from her never ending thoughts.
Gazing deep into his eyes she smiled at him, as he smiled back at her saying vows that were imprinted in their hearts.
Taking the ring Spark brought with Tommy beside him, Mark rolled the ring down her finger then sealed their union with a kiss as directed by the priest while everyone stood up cheering and congratulating them.
….
“Welcome to the family, I’m so happy for the two of you.” Mark’s mother hugged Melissa for the tenth time at the reception.
“Mother, can I have my wife now?” Mark asked, taking Melissa’s hand.
“Okay, go on dear.” She smiled at them as they went to the dance floor for the first dance. “They remind me of the day we got married.” She leaned to her husband and kissed him, not minding the numerous guests looking their way.
Holding Melissa in his arms with family and friends watching them was a dream come true for Mark.
From the very first day he saw her, he knew she was the only one for him. Looking at her sunny smile and her sparkling eyes he wanted her more.
Never did he think he would fall in love with her deeper than he did five years back.
Back then, every time he watched her in that park he wished she would gaze at him and say she loved him as much as he did.
“We have gone through so much the past year. I don’t want to ever lose you, Melissa.” He caressed her cheek staring into her eyes.
Briefly closing her eyes she snuggled in his arm. “I’m yours forever Mark, no one can keep us apart.”
“I love you so much.”
“I love you more.”
Still dancing with her eyes closed, Melissa heard a commotion behind them. When she opened her eyes and turned back, she saw the one person she didn’t expect to see on her wedding day.
“Sasha? What are you doing here?” Mark questioned, holding Melissa to his chest.
Dressed in a long white strapless dinner dress with a long slit ending slightly above her knee, Sasha stood before them staring at Melissa.
Her lips curved up with wrinkles at the corner of her eyes, she turned her attention to her craps bag as she rummaged through it.
With every gaze on her, the guests stepped back one after the other on high alert afraid of what she would do.
