Using Baby Daddy For Revenge

He is still breathing

“Cheers! Hahaha! It’s done. We sent the mighty Mark Johnson to the hospital.” One of Diana’s goons cheered, opening another beer.

“Good, this time you didn’t fail me.” She sat at her office table sipping a glass of whisky with a burning cigarette in the other hand.

“I have information that they don’t allow his wife to see him. She cries every day outside the mansion gate, begging for her son.” One man informed them.

“Boss, this is the perfect opportunity to get her.” The other man spoke standing from his chair.

“Hold your horses. I want her to lose everything she has now before taking her. She should suffer until she wishes she was dead.” Diana said, dragging on the cigarette as the door busted open.

“You are a monster. This is not what we agreed on.” Sasha barged into the room, startling everyone.

One of Diana’s men pulled out a gun, pointing it at Sasha’s head. “Who let you in here?” He inquired, making her tremble with her hands held high.

“That’s enough, leave us.” Diana ordered, walking to the floor to ceiling windows.

“When I gave you access to Mark’s security, you said you will get rid of Melissa. That’s what we agreed on. Why send Mark to the hospital?” Sasha asked, shaking in range. This belongs © NôvelDra/ma.Org.

“I did my part. Very well, if I may say. Melissa is out of the picture now. You should thank me, right?” Diana puffed the smoke from her mouth and nostrils.

“Thank you? Are you kidding me? Mark is barely holding on. I have nothing to thank you for,” She took the drink Diana placed on the table and gulped it down in one go.

“He is still breathing, isn’t he? Go, sit by his side and take good care of him. When he wakes up, you can be together. Melissa will be long gone by then. Better yet, he may not remember her.” Smiling, she he turned to gaze at Sasha. “Wait!” As Sasha got to the door, she stopped her. “Don’t you ever, in your miserable life, barge into my office or disrespect me in front of my employees again.” Diana warned her, then called her assistant to escort Sasha out.

….

From the mansion’s gate, Melissa went to the hospital hoping to find Mr. Johnson. When she attempted to visit Mark, the security stopped her at the private ward’s gate.

They were instructed to only let family members in, hence the whole fourth floor was sealed off only accessible after producing an ID.

“I’m his wife. I need to see him.” The guards dragged her by the hair when she kept pushing at the gate, insisting on getting in.

“Melissa!” Luckily, when the elevator doors opened, Robert walked out, coming to her rescue.

“Stop, she is with me.”

“Those bastards won’t let me in.” She hissed, massaging her wrist.

“It’s okay, come with me.” Robert spoke with the head nurse and sneaked Melissa into Mark’s room dressed like a nurse.

“How have you been dear?” Mary inquired, giving her a hug when she got into the ward.

“I’m okay Mary. I’ll be okay.” She nodded, walking in. “Has he made any improvement?” She looked at Mark’s almost lifeless body, tears filling her eyes.

“No, the doctors are still monitoring him, but Mr. Johnson is planning to take him out of the country for further treatment.” Mary explained, straightening the bedcovers. “I’ll leave you for a while. Don’t take too long. Mr. Johnson might come back soon.” She said before leaving.

“Thank you.” Sighing, Melissa wiped her tears as Mary left the room.

Holding Mark’s hand, she sat beside him. “I have so many questions, Mark. Only you can answer them.” Closing her eyes, she remembered seeing Sasha in his arms as more tears streamed down her cheeks.

“I wish you could wake up right now. Please wake up, Mark.” She sniffed, looking at his palm. “Why did this happen? I’m not only losing you, but our son as well. I don’t know how much of this I can take anymore.” She bit her lip, gazing at his face. “If you had asked me a few months back, I would tell you I’m strong. I can handle everything, but now I don’t know what to do without you and Tommy.” Sighing, she looked at the beeping machine monitoring his heartbeat.

“Melissa, you have to go.” Mary got back breathless.

One nurse had just informed her that Mr. Johnson was on his way.

“But I can’t leave him, Mary.” She held onto Mark’s hand. “Let me, I’ll talk to Mr. Johnson. He has to let me be with my family.”

“No Melissa, you don’t understand. He won’t let you near Mark or Tommy. You have to leave now, please.” Mary tried to persuade her, often glancing at the door.

“It’s okay Mary. I’ll take care of her.” Robert walked in. “Melissa, please let go. Grandfather will fire everyone on this floor if he finds you here, please.” Robert beseeched her.

Wiping her tears, Melissa leaned to Mark and placed a kiss on his forehead.

“No matter what happens, I pray you get better. I pray you wake up soon.” She murmured, touching his cheeks.

Standing at the door, she turned to look at him one last time. It felt like she would never see him again.

With more tears filling her eyes, she could hardly see.

As Robert got her out of the room, the machine monitoring Mark peeped, alerting every doctor and nurse on duty. “What happened? Mark!” She tried to get back.

“No, Melissa, we have to go.” Robert dragged her from the room.

“Robert, I… I have to stay with Mark. Please let me stay with him. No, let me stay with him, please.” She sobbed, kicking and hitting Robert to let her go as he carried her out, giving room to the doctors rushing in with a crash cart.
