Chapter 141
“Are you sure the royal family of Britamland is involved in this?” Dylan asked, his brow furrowed. If the royal family of Britamland was indeed involved, the situation was serious.
But, he wondered why the royal family was targeting Audrey.
Dylan couldn’t help but recall the last assassination attempt, where the royal family had also played a role. The thought made his eyes flash with a dangerous glint.
“What about the assassins we captured last time?” Dylan asked.
“They’re still being interrogated. They’re stubborn and won’t say anything!” Richard immediately guessed what Dylan was implying.
“Go back now. I’ll handle the interrogation myself!” Dylan ordered.
Initially, he wanted to stay at the hospital to let Audrey rest, but now that she had left, Dylan was unwilling to stay here anymore.
“But what about your injuries?” Richard asked, noticing Dylan’s wounds.
“It’s nothing. The sooner we uncover who’s behind this, the safer she’ll be!” Dylan replied resolutely.
Shortly after Audrey left the hospital, Dylan followed suit.
Meanwhile, Audrey was unaware of Dylan’s departure as she was with Troy in his car.
“How are you feeling? Are you okay?” Troy asked, his gaze scanning Audrey from head to toe as soon as they were in the car.
“I’m fine. Why are you here?” Audrey responded calmly.
“I came as soon as I heard about what happened!” Troy had been monitoring Audrey’s situation and rushed over upon receiving the news. “I heard the son of the Clifford family was hospitalized after saving you. Is that right?”
“Yes,” Audrey said tersely, not interested in discussing Dylan.
Troy didn’t press further but frowned when he recalled Rebecca’s death. “I heard Rebecca’s body was missing. Why did she suddenly die?”
“I’m not sure. I suspect their plan had two goals. One was to use Rebecca to lure me into a trap, which is why there were so many assassins. They underestimated my skills and didn’t expect Dylan to chase after me!” Audrey said, her expression growing serious. “The second goal was to use the same trick again.”
Audrey was well aware of what this meant.
“They want to use Rebecca’s death to send you to prison again and get rid of you without anyone knowing!” Troy’s expression immediately turned grave.
He had investigated what happened seven years ago. The mastermind behind all this could be said to have played a big game just to get rid of Audrey.
However, they did not expect Audrey to survive even though she was sent to a men’s prison and tortured until she was covered in wounds.
For the past seven years, Audrey had been hiding all her traces. Naturally, they could not find her.
Seven years later, Audrey made a high–profile comeback, and the people behind all this couldn’t sit still.
Especially since Audrey had grown significantly in strength and stature, her enemies feared that if she reached her full potential, she would become impossible to handle. Thus, they were eager to eliminate her swiftly.
Yet, this rush to act had inadvertently exposed more information.
“Since they dare to come after me, I’ll face them head–on. I’m curious to see how they plan to kill me this time!” Audrey’s gaze was cold and determined, and her demeanor radiated intense confidence.
Previously, due to memory loss, there were many things she couldn’t understand or recall.
But now, she was almost certain that the person behind the game seven years ago had put in a lot of effort to get rid of her completely.
Moreover, even Claire, Rebecca, and Sarah had been manipulated as pawns, revealing the complexity of the situation.
Audrey also suspected that the mastermind behind Dylan’s severe injuries and amnesia had planned it all along.
Thinking of this, the coldness in Audrey’s eyes deepened.
Since they were so scheming to get rid of her, she was curious about their identity.
“This time, they spent so much effort to lure you from Northville to Norville, but they still couldn’t get rid of you. I’m afraid they might be even more dangerous next time. Be careful!” Troy frowned in concern as he surmised that the factions involved likely held significant power.
“Do you think it’s the Nightshade Alliance?” Audrey asked. She recalled that the Nightshade Alliance had been involved in a previous assassination attempt.
Hearing Audrey’s words, Troy immediately frowned and denied, “Impossible!”
Audrey looked at Troy with a puzzled expression.
“Although the Nightshade Alliance was involved before, it’s unlikely they would orchestrate such a complex scheme just to eliminate you,” Troy explained.
Audrey’s confusion deepened, and she asked, “How can you be so sure it isn’t them?”
Troy glanced at Audrey and sighed. He said in a low voice, “Because your mother was one of the founders of Nightshade Alliance. She just quit later!”
Troy refrained from adding that, despite the ruthlessness of the Nightshade Alliance, they would never go to such extremes to kill Audrey.Content is property of NôvelDrama.Org.
Still, Troy had his doubts.
Audrey was a little shocked to hear Troy’s words.
Her mother was involved in the founding of the Nightshade Alliance. It was astonishing.
“By the way, Rebecca once mentioned that my mother might still be alive,” Audrey said, recalling Rebecca’s visit outside the Holland residence.
“Are you sure Rebecca said that?” Troy’s expression changed to one of intense excitement.
This was the first time Audrey had seen Troy so excited as if a stoic figure had suddenly shown human longing.
“Yes, she did say that!” Audrey confirmed, her expression growing more serious. “I found some information suggesting that my mother’s death might be linked to Rebecca. If Rebecca is also working for the person behind the scenes, then the true mastermind behind my mother’s death might be that person. If that’s the case, could it mean that my mother is still alive?” “When you get to Northville, I’ll arrange for someone to take you to the Holland residence,” Troy said, suppressing his emotions and looking at Audrey with resolve.
Audrey knew Troy was determined to investigate her mother’s case.
Upon arriving in Northville, Troy had the driver take Audrey directly to the Holland residence while he departed in another car.
Back at the Holland residence, Audrey returned to her room. After a brief shower, she noticed her phone ringing.
Frowning, she answered the call.
“Baby, my back is split open, and it hurts!” Dylan’s voice came through, full of distress.
“Get a doctor if it’s that serious!” Audrey responded coldly.
“I’m outside the Holland residence!” Dylan pleaded, his voice weakened by pain. “It really hurts!”
