Whispers Of Betrayal (Anastasia and Alastor)

Chapter 56

Chapter 56

In the police station.

Anastasia endured the pain and got off the taxi, rushing into the police station.

Steven, Alastor’s assistant, and Felicia were all present and looked gloomy.

“Anastasia, you are truly malicious! By falsely accusing Alastor of domestic violence, do you want to ruin him?” Felicia angrily accused, seemingly wanting to tear Anastasia apart.

“Anastasia, you’ve gone too far. I never thought you’d be so shameless. Who would believe that you fell and fractured? You’re framing Alastor for domestic violence and even trying to get him to sign an agreement and write a will. How can you be so vicious?” Steven’s anger was evident, and he seemed to be losing control, wanting to confront Anastasia.

Alastor’s assistant stopped Steven. “Mr. Quigley, don’t argue with her. She’s pregnant now, and if you lay a hand on her, she might slander you.”

Steven snorted, looking at Anastasia with disgust. “And we don’t even know whose child it is!”

“Let me tell you, Anastasia. It’s not that Alastor dislikes children, but he simply doesn’t trust you. Before, I thought he was too guarded against you, but now I know! A woman like you is truly disgusting” Steven insulted her. “Alastor doesn’t want you to have this child because he doesn’t trust you. This child probably isn’t even his, right?”

Anastasia stopped in her tracks, standing below the steps, looking at everyone accusing her.

It was as if the failure of this marriage made her the target of public criticism.

Anastasia opened her mouth to explain, but not a single word came out.

The torrent of accusations was overwhelming, and she could not defend herself.

“Tell us, is this child really Alastor’s?” Felicia also chimed in. “I really can’t tell, Anastasia. What’s with your pretense of purity? Almost everyone in the company has seen your nude photos! Your nude photos were sent to the company group chat. Do you know how much money Alastor spent to suppress that matter?”

Anastasia looked up at Felicia in shock, feeling a suffocating pain in her heart.

Anastasia thought, “What did she mean? What nude photos and company group chat?”

“It’s really unlucky for Alastor to have met you, Steven muttered softly.

Anastasia’s feet felt numb as she stepped up the stairs.

Steven and Felicia stood there, blocking her way, not allowing Anastasia to go up the stairs.

“Get out of the way,” Anastasia said in a hoarse voice. Text content © NôvelDrama.Org.

“What do you want now? Do you want to smear Alastor’s reputation again? Forget it, it’s not going to work.” Felicia adopted a stance as if she was willing to sacrifice everything for Alastor.

“Get out of the way.” Anastasia’s head was throbbing, urging Felicia to step back.

Felicia gave Anastasia a push. “You’re truly malicious.”

Anastasia was already unsteady on her feet, and being pushed caused her to fall down the steps.

The pain in Anastasia’s collarbone was intense, and her already fractured arm worsened.

Felicia’s face showed both shock and innocence. “I didn’t do it on purpose. I didn’t push her hard.”

“Just look at you. Anastasia. What are you pretending for? Who are you trying to deceive with your act?” Steven mocked. “Are you as fragile as a glass doll, breaking at the slightest touch?”

Anastasia remained silent, feeling the excruciating pain in her right leg.

Most likely, it was fractured too.

The doctor had told Anastasia that her bone density was akin to that of a seventy or eighty-year-old woman, and it seemed

to be true.

Anastasia sat on the ground for a long while, her face pale.

She could not get up.

But she did not want to appear weak in front of these people.

“What’s going on?” The police officers rushed out after seeing it from the surveillance cameras.

“And you still claim there was no domestic violence. You all seem pretty bold, resorting to violence at the police station entrance, a policewoman scolded, approaching to help Anastasia up.

“Thank you.” Anastasia stood up, her face deathly pale.

It was too painful.

“Are you alright?” the police asked.

Anastasia nodded.

“Stop pretending. You’re really a good actress,” Felicia mocked.

Anastasia did not reply but explained to the police officer, “Sorry to bother you, but there was no domestic violence. Alastor did beat me, and I fell.”

The police frowned. “Are you sure?”

“Yes, I apologize for causing trouble,” Anastasia said, gritting her teeth in pain as she hobbled up the steps.

“I’m sorry.”

The police officer paid no further attention to Anastasia, allowing her to hobble into the lobby.

In the interrogation room, Anastasia saw Alastor.

He looked somewhat disheveled, with his tie loosened and a wound on the corner of his lip.

Clearly, he had been in a fight.

Anastasia’s heart sank as she thought of Jason.

Anastasia thought, “Did Jason fight against Alastor? Because of me?”

Anastasia’s eyes reddened at the thought, and she moved over step by step. “I’m sorry for causing you trouble. It’s all a misunderstanding. There was no domestic violence. It was just me who fell.”

Alastor seemed like he had not slept all night, his eyes bloodshot. He glanced at Anastasia with a complicated expression.

Anastasia stood stiffly in place, feeling like she was being stabbed all over her body.

In Alastor’s eyes, there was both disgust and disappointment towards her.

“He was disgusted by me” She thought.

Thinking of everything that happened recently, Anastasia felt suffocated.
