Chapter 99
Chapter 99
Although it was just a pet cat, in Alastor’s eyes, Anastasia’s concern for Snowball was no less than caring for a child.
Anastasia could not let go of Snowball, so as long as the cat was still at home, she would definitely return. This is property © of NôvelDrama.Org.
Alastor also hoped that by keeping Snowball, he could make Anastasia stay a little longer.
He did not expect his mother to actually harm Snowball.
Naomi was frightened by Alastor’s roar of anger, trembling as she looked at him. “Why are you yelling? Do you want to scare your mother to death for the sake of a small animal?”
“Let me ask you again. Where did you throw Snowball?” Alastor stepped forward, questioning his mother.
Naomi felt guilty and avoided eye contact. “I-I asked Jeremy to throw it.”
Jeremy was Naomi’s driver.
Anastasia sat on the ground, unable to speak anymore. She wiped her nosebleed and tried to get up by supporting herself with her arms.
“Where is Jeremy?” Alastor asked as he hurriedly went outside to help Anastasia find Snowball.
His eyelids twitched, feeling that something terrible would happen.
Just then, Jeremy returned from outside. However, before he could enter, Alastor grabbed his collar, pushed him against the wall, and yelled, “Where’s the cat?”
Kimberly supported Anastasia, and they walked out. Both of them looked at Jeremy.
Jeremy was stunned and looked at Naomi in shock.
Nevertheless, Naomi furrowed her brows, avoiding his gaze and remaining silent.
“Where’s my cat?” Anastasia shouted. She was getting anxious. Her sixth sense was usually accurate.
Something terrible might have happened to Snowball.
“Someone jumped into the river. Someone jumped into the river over at the scenic area! He jumped in! I don’t know what he’s looking for.”
Anastasia anxiously grabbed a passerby and asked, “Where?”
“Over there. At the scenic area in the residential area,” the passerby hurriedly replied.
Anastasia let go of Kimberly’s hand and ran over in a panic.
Jeremy was also somewhat bewildered. “Mr. Lopez, Mrs. Lopez asked me to deal with the cat…”
“Did you throw it into the river?” Alastor gasped as he looked at Jeremy in shock.
Jeremy looked around and did not dare to speak.
Alastor calmed down and quickly ran over to stop Anastasia.
He was afraid that something was about to go wrong.
Anastasia ran to the scenic river in the residential area and saw Jason in the water. He was completely soaked, taking a deep breath on the surface before diving down again.
“Jason…” Anastasia’s voice was hoarse, and her eyes were burning with tears.
“Come up!” Anastasia shouted at Jason.
Anastasia panicked and wanted to run into the river. “Jace…”
“Are you crazy? You’ll risk your life!” Alastor rushed over and pulled Anastasia back, his anger evident.
“Jace…” Anastasia desperately tried to push Alastor away. At that moment, she only knew she could not lose Jace again.
If Snowball was beyond saving, then Jace must be safe.
But after a long time, Jason still had not come out of the water.
“Jace!” Anastasia cried out for Jace, desperately trying to break free from Alastor’s grasp.
Alastor held Anastasia tightly in his arms and reprimanded her, “He’s gone crazy over finding a cat, and now you’ve gone mad too?”
Alastor had already called the police and informed the property management to handle the situation.
“Get away from me!” Anastasia yelled at Alastor madly.
“In his eyes, could everything be done with such rationality and composure? In fact, it’s because he did not care enough. If Felicia was the one who jumped into the river, I’m sure he’d be more impulsive than anyone else,” she said inwardly.
Alastor held Anastasia’s wrist tightly with a gloomy expression and refused to let her go.
He could not let Anastasia go there.
Anastasia lowered her head and bit Alastor’s hand hard, not wanting to let go.
Alastor’s face turned pale in pain, but he did not loosen his grip.
“Get away from me!” Anastasia cried, asking Alastor to leave. “If anything happens to Snowball and Jace, I won’t let you and your mother go. I absolutely won’t…”
She had nothing left now except for Snowball and Jace.
Alastor’s heart ached tremendously as he saw the hatred in Anastasia’s eyes when she looked at him.
Alastor was clearly at fault in Snowball’s matter.
Finally, she broke free from Alastor’s grasp. Anastasia immediately wanted to rush into the river, but fortunately, Jason emerged from the water, holding a woven bag and walking toward the river bank.
Anastasia stood rooted to her spot, her entire body numb with shock.
Jason’s expression was grim as he hastily wiped the water off his face. Once he reached the shore, he anxiously untied the woven bag.
Inside, Snowball was barely breathing, and the corners of its mouth were covered with blood. Clearly, it had endured inhumane abuse before being thrown into the river.
“Annie… Don’t worry. Don’t be afraid. I’ll rush it to the hospital now.” Jason sounded flustered as he picked up Snowball, his voice hoarse.
Anastasia’s vision darkened, and she collapsed to the ground.
She could not bear to look at Snowball.
“Anastasia! Go to the hospital first,” Alastor said while trying to support her.
“Don’t touch me!” Anastasia glared at Alastor with hatred. With Kimberly’s help. she slowly rose to her feet. “Let’s go to the animal clinic.”
Alastor stood still and looked back at Jeremy with intense anger.
“Mrs. Lopez asked me to end its life. I’m just…” Jeremy muttered.
“That’s too much…” Alastor raised his hand and rubbed the space between his brows.
At that moment, Alastor realized Anastasia would never forgive him for the rest of her life if something happened to Snowball.
