Chapter 185
The operating light in Hork General Hospital’s emergency department was blinding, making Anastasia feel out of her mind.
“Excessive blood loss…”
The sound of medical devices could be heard.
“The victim is pregnant. Anastasia has a baby in her womb.”
“The gestation period is insufficient.”
“Contact her family.”
Outside the operating room, Jason rushed into the hospital in a panic, stumbling and falling several times.
“Anastasia! Where is she?”
“Jace, calm down.” Jayden, with tears streaming down his cheeks, stopped Jason.
“She’s already in surgery.” Jayden sniffled.
“Why are you crying? To find out who stabbed her!” Jason’s voice was hoarse and brimming with rage.
He wanted to find out who the culprit was.
“The police have retrieved the surveillance footage and extracted a DNA sample from Anastasia’s nails. That person can’t escape.” Jayden sobbed uncontrollably.
Alastor had previously threatened Anastasia’s private investigator, so no one in Hork dared to take her case.
Jayden was the only one who dared to take her case.
It was because Jayden was Jason’s cousin, and Jason had asked him to handle Anastasia’s case.
“Jace, the police have obtained the surveillance footage. They said the person wasn’t following her. He went straight to her room in the hotel. It indicates that he knew which room Anastasia was in. Who knew about Anastasia staying in the hotel?” Jayden asked.
After hearing that, Jason frowned.
Even he was unaware of Anastasia’s room number, only the hotel where she was staying.
“Who did Anastasia tell?” he pondered.
“Once she wakes up, I’ll ask her. You go check if this has anything to do with Felicia.”
Jason suspected that Felicia might be behind it.
After all, Anastasia had just revealed that Felicia’s child was not Alastor’s, making her the most likely to seek vengeance.
“Who is the victim’s family? Please sign here. The victim is pregnant, and we advise aborting the baby. The wound narrowly missed the stomach. Fortunately, the stab wound was shallow and did not penetrate any vital organs.” The doctor came out to explain.
“I-I’m Anastasia’s husband. Doctor, what’s her condition?” Alastor, who had received a call from the police, dashed over to the end of the corridor and confronted the doctor. “I am her husband.”
Jason clenched his fists. Jason had no say in the child’s fate.
“Anastasia didn’t have an abortion at that time. Anastasia is still pregnant,” Jason said in a deep voice.
Faced with the same choice, Alastor had to choose again.
Alastor was stunned for a long time, unable to regain his composure.
“Anastasia had taken such a great risk back then to keep the child?” he thought.
“I-Is the child-in danger?” Alastor’s voice trembled as he asked the doctor.
It was not that he did not care about Anastasia’s life, Alastor just wanted to maintain a relationship with Anastasia through
the child.
As long as the child existed, he and Anastasia would never be able to sever their ties completely.
He hoped that Anastasia would reconsider divorce for the sake of the child.
“The victim is in hemorrhagic shock. Anastasia is currently in the compensatory stage of shock. We’re worried about intrauterine hypoxia. Even if we don’t terminate the pregnancy, there’s a possibility of stillbirth. Moreover, the situation is unfavorable for the victim. You need to consider carefully.” The doctor provided a suggestion.
“Please keep the child safe while ensuring the mother’s safety.” Alastor’s voice was hoarse. Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.
The doctor frowned in response..
“Alastor, you jerk!” Jason gave Alastor a punch. “If anything happens to Anastasia because of the child, I’ll kill you!”
Alastor leaned against the wall; his breathing quickened.
“Why do I have to go through the agony of losing the child again? Is this my punishment for not wanting this child in the past?” he mused.
After a long silence, Alastor piped up in despair, “D-Doctor, let’s not keep the child…”
He could not give up Anastasia for the sake of the child.
The doctor looked at Alastor and then at Jason. Without saying a word, he had Alastor sign the consent form and walked into the operating room.
“What exactly happened? Why was she hurt?” Alastor grabbed Jason’s collar.
“You have the nerve to ask me?” Jason pushed Alastor away. “You better pray that this has nothing to do with Felicia!”
The moment Alastor heard that his breathing became more rapid. “Felicia? It’s impossible. I know her well enough. Felicia lacks courage and intelligence. Felicia would never send someone to hurt Anastasia.”
“At a time like this, you’re still defending Felicia? Alastor, you make me sick.” Jason clenched his fists tightly.
