Chapter 582
But staying at the Southern District Sanatorium? That definitely wouldn't be cheap.
Rebecca found it hard to admit, "I don't have much in the way of savings."
She had a job over the years and managed to get by just fine, but the steep cost of staying at the Southern District Sanatorium was beyond her, and likely beyond most families for that matter.
"Don't worry about that."
Sawyer glanced at Francis, "What Mr. Francis means is, you can stay first, and about the costs, you don't have to pay anything now. We'll just put it on a tab."
They opted for this roundabout way of saying they wouldn't charge her, fearing a direct offer might lead Rebecca to refuse.
Of course, they had no intention of ever making her pay.
Rebecca frowned, struggling to make up her mind. How could she possibly accept such generosity?
Seeing her hesitation, Sawyer pressed on, "Come on, Ms. White, do you have a better option?"
Rebecca shook her head; she obviously didn't.
"Then it's settled."
Francis shot Sawyer a look, and Sawyer immediately got the cue, adding a bit of 'pressure', "Ms. White, Mr. Francis is quite busy, we can't afford to spend too much time on this."
Rebecca stiffened, a cold sweat breaking out.
She quickly nodded, "Then... then, thank you, Mr. Francis."
Finally, Francis spoke, "Hmm."
Rebecca: ...
Did he speak? Was that a sign of happiness, or...?
Soon, they were on their way to the Southern District Sanatorium.
To make Rebecca feel more at ease, Francis didn't arrange for her to stay in a secluded villa but rather in a row of terraced houses. Once the door was closed, it was a private residence, though the yard was shared.
"Ms. White."
After settling her in and providing a 24-hour caretaker, Sawyer asked, "Is there anything else you need, anything I've overlooked?" "Not at all."
Rebecca waved her hands dismissively, "This is more than enough, thank you, thank you, Mr. Francis."
"Alright, then. You just focus on getting better," Sawyer smiled, "and when it's time for the surgery, we'll come pick you up."All content is © N0velDrama.Org.
"Thank you. Take care on your way out."
Rebecca thought for a moment before adding, "Mr. Francis, you as well."
Francis stood at the doorway, responding from a distance, "Hmm."
Leaving the Southern District Sanatorium, Francis headed to the TV station to wait for Caroline to finish her show.
"What are you doing here?" Caroline came out, her face cold upon seeing Francis.
She had maintained this attitude towards him for some time now.
"Caroline." Francis took her hand, soothing her with a gentle voice, came to pick you up. We're going to Blue Plate Diner. I've already ordered; it's all your favorites ready to eat as soon as we arrive."
"Hmph." Caroline was unimpressed scoffing, "Stop with the superficial gestures! Do you think I'm a child? That can be appeased with just some food?"
Francis frowned, "Then what do you want me to do?"
"If I tell you, will you agree?" Caroline eyed him suspiciously.
"Yes." Francis nodded, "As long as it's within my power."
Caroline suddenly smiled, linking her arm with his and looking up, "How about you come over tonight?"
Francis was taken aback. What did she mean by that?
"About having a child..."
Not sure if he had understood, Caroline clarified, "Francis, I want you to give me a child!"
The request left Francis speechless, his adam's apple moving up and down as he silently thought it over.
"You always say I'm paranoid,"
Caroline teased, shaking his armet
"Give me a child, and I promise I'll never bring up James' mom again. I swear!"
