Chapter 157
Chapter 157
“Just the other day, Ms. Harris found herself an apartment,” the assistant whispered back.
Davis kept Brian and Natalie apart and forbade Natalie from seeing Nate. Yet Brian dared to escalate
things!
“Natalie is a real piece of work…” Davis nodded, his voice deep with disapproval.
She was just as cunning as Audrey back in the day!
But as long as he was around, he’d never let that tragedy happen again!
After a long silence, he commanded his assistant, “Get Madelyn back to her place. You help her move,
personally!”
“Yes, sir.”
Davis believed that with his backing, Natalie wouldn’t dare step out of line again!
Natalie had undergone minimally invasive surgery, but it involved her spine, so the doctor had
instructed her not to take baths or get out of bed alone for a week to ten days. She needed to rest.
On the second day of lying in the hospital bed, her period came, and she lay still until it was over, with
the doctor still not clearing her for discharge.
Reid stood guard outside her room day and night. Natalie couldn’t see anyone or do much of anything.
She was almost stir–crazy.
Finally, the doctor removed her splint, agreeing she could get out of bed and walk around.
Natalie was desperate to wash her hair, which was greasy from not being washed in over a week. As NôvelDrama.Org is the owner.
soon as her splint was off, the first thing she did was head to the sink.
But the stitches from her back wound were still fresh, and she couldn’t shower. She carefully wiped
down her body with a damp towel in the bathroom.
Just as she stepped out of the shower stall, she faintly heard Brian’s voice outside.
She hadn’t had time to dress and only wrapped a towel around herself when Brian opened the
bathroom door.
Noticing her standing there, drenched and desolate, his brow crinkled slightly, a clear indication of his
growing concern.
The doctor was updating Brian on Natalie’s recovery outside when Brian glanced at Natalie, silent
before closing the bathroom door again.
Natalie exhaled in relief, turned away, and reached for the clothes she had placed on the sink counter
when the door opened again.

The corridor was silent. The doctor and nurses must have left.
Natalie caught Brian’s eye through the mirror over the sink and subconsciously tightened her grip on
the towel.
Before she could step back, Brian reached for her, spread a towel on the countertop, and lifted her to
sit on it with one arm.
“I can do it myself…” she began, but he gently took a section of her hair and spread it in his palm.
The warmth of his hand brushed her shoulder.
For the first time in her life, someone was drying her hair, and it was Brian.
He must have just returned from abroad, busy managing the overseas company. He had only visited
once during that time.
Brian dried the outer layer of her hair until it was damp, his fingers gradually working deeper, blowing
through the thick tresses.
His chin rested atop her head, his breaths softly grazing her forehead and ears.
