CHAPTER 17: LOSING HER SANITY
I slowly opened my eyes. The first thing that I saw was the white ceiling of where I was. At first, I didn't even know where I was. But when it occurred to me that I might be in another bed with someone else, my system suddenly woke up. I was about to get up but I was stunned by the sudden drawing of pain in my belly.
"Aw, it hurts..." I whispered while holding my stomach.
Because what happened yesterday was like a rolled tape on a show that slowly flowed through me so I was hysterical.
"My baby!" I shouted sharply, but I could not hear my own voice. I averted my eyes to where I was and it appears that I was in the hospital. Only now did I notice that I had dextrose attached to my hand.
Although I wanted to get up, I restrained myself from doing anything. I didn't make a move for fear that something bad might happen to my child. Where is Tranz?
I shook my head at my own question. I'm so stupid to look for him at this time. Didn't my husband just leave me in the middle of my bad situation?
Everything is okay, Mina... I calm myself down. At least in this way, I can ease my heart.
I closed my eyes, but I did not expect to be fell asleep.
I woke up because of the noise I was hearing. Unlike when I woke up earlier, I didn't feel groggy
"Good that you're awake..." said the baritone voice so I turned to where the seemingly familiar voice came from.
My eyes almost widened when I saw Seth, Tricia's brother.
"What are you doing here?"Property © NôvelDrama.Org.
The man approached me and showed me his scrub suit. "Apparently, I'm your doctor ..." he replied smiling, so I was able to see his perfectly white teeth.
I even looked around because I wasn't convinced by what he said. I don't know if what he says that he is a doctor is true.
All I need to talk to is Tricia.
"Where is Tricia?" I want to know how the baby in my womb is doing but I don't want the answer to come from this man himself. "D-did my husband visit here?"
He took the chair and sat on the side of my bed. I could see sympathy in his eyes.
"Tranz didn't come here even once, Mina ..."
I lie down because of his answer. "You're lying. My husband could not bear not to visit me. You can go now. And please, stop fooling out of me. I want to rest." I closed my eyes but immediately opened it again when he held my hand. I was going to scold him but I saw he was taking my blood pressure.
"Your BP is normal, but we have to undergo another blood test for us to determine if your platelet count is okay. Because otherwise you will have to undergo a blood transfusion again, Mina. "
Despite what he said I still couldn't believe he was a doctor.
"Tricia is the one I need to talk to, Dr. Capestrana. " I made my voice formal, to let him know that I was serious. "I want to know from her the condition of my baby."
Seth stared at me. I don't like the way he stared at me, because that's also the way the taxi driver stared at me yesterday. He pities me. And I don't want him to feel sorry for me.
"Don't look at me like that, Seth. Don't look at me like I'm some kind of a ne'er-do-well. Don't pity me, because that's the last thing I need from you. "
He let out a deep sigh before he stood up. "I'll summon Tricia here. Just wait here. And please, don't do anything-"
"Stupid?" I sarcastically asked. "Don't worry because you don't have to tell me about that. I'm using my initiative."
He raised both his hands as if he's surrendering before leaving the room.
I didn't wait long because just a few minutes later the door opened and Tricia entered, followed by Seth. Like his brother she was also wearing a scrub suit.
Tricia smiled at me, but it was just a forced smile so I was overwhelmed with nervousness.
"How are you, Mina?" She immediately questioned me. She checked me just like what Seth did.
"I'm fine, Tricia. Thanks to you. Because if you didn't come I don't know what I would do. I don't know what I would do if I lose my baby. How's my baby?" I smiled as I waited for her answer. Her forceful smile was completely gone. She took my hand, and barely squeezed it.
I thought she would answer my question, but I was wrong because ...
"Shall we call your parents so they know your situation?"
"No," I answered immediately. "I'm fine. I'm fine. I don't want to give my parents a problem anymore. They are old so they may not be able to cope. " I was stunned for a moment. "And one more thing, I know Tranz and I can fix the problem between us. What happened was just a misunderstanding. It's not my fault. "I looked at Seth. "And your brother knows that. He is the one who can prove that I am innocent. And besides, the man admitted that Lily is to blame for everything." "Lily?" Tricia's question to me seemed even more confused so I nodded.
"Let's not talk about her, please. Can I sit down? My back is sore." Seth immediately approached me and helped me to sit up. I could almost catch my breath when I sat down. "Gezz! Why I am being like this? It's like I've been lying down for a week so my body feels like this."
"Don't you remember, Mina?" Tricia asked me worriedly.
"About what?" I looked back and forth between the two of them.
"It's better that you rest first, Mina. We will tell you everything when you are fully recovered-"
"No, Tricia. You have to tell me right now. I'm fine! I just want to know if my baby is strong! I just want to know if he's okay! "I cried and my tears slowly rolled down my cheeks. I was shaking blatantly. I held my head as if I was going to lose my mind. "I don't remember anything, Tricia... Why don't I remember anything?!" I touched my stomach. "A-and w-why does it seems like" I put my hand over my mouth before I cried. "O-oh, God!"
