Chapter 128
Chapter 128 He’d Do Anything for Her
“Don't look at me like that. You gave Ms. Maia a huge gift, so naturally we would have to give you something huge in return too. Mr. Cedric instructed us to take good care of you.”
Baz explained patiently. “It's such a shame to let all these eggs you brought go to waste. Let’s put them to good use.” The woman started yelling, “How dare you touch me! You piece of trash! Do you know who | am?” “Of course, you’re one of Ms. Rita’s distant relatives!”
“If you already knew who | am, you wouldn't dare do this to me.” She glared daggers at him. Baz shook his head helplessly and asked, “Do you know who you just messed with?”
The woman was momentarily taken aback. How could she not know Maia Burgess? “What do you mean?”
Baz moved closer to her and elaborated helpfully, “Since you’re clearly not the brightest person, I'll explain it to you. The lady you just offended is an important person to Mr. Cedric. He would do anything for her.”
He went on. “Meanwhile, you’re just a distant relative of Ms. Rita. So, what makes you think that Mr. Cedric would even care about you?”
The woman's face was distorted with fear, “N—no, you can’t do
this to me! It was all under Ms.
Rita’s orders. She wanted me to publicly embarrass Maia Burgess!”
She pleaded desperately. She did not want to be covered in eggs as she tried to beg for forgiveness by betraying Rita.
The moment she started confessing, everyone in the hall turned to her. More chaos broke as they started gossiping about what had just transpired.
Back at the guest room, Cedric was tending to Maia’s wound as he asked gently if it hurt.
Maia chose to remain silent. The egg had caused some of her makeup to smudge and her evening gown was soiled. She could not help but feel self-conscious. Maia felt like a stray and Cedric was the savior who kept giving her help out of pity.
All of a sudden, a knock came at the door. Shortly after, a makeup artist and a stylist entered the room. “Ms. Maia, we're here to help you. Your new gown has also arrived.”
There were still 2 hours left before the start of the fashion show. Maia knew that she could not possibly attend the event looking like a mess.

Maia drew her lips into a thin line and tightened her fists as she struggled. Seconds later, Cedric pushed some of her loose strands of hair behind her ears and instructed the crew to be careful with the wound on her forehead.
He took one last glanced at Maia before leaving the room to give her some privacy.
“Ms. Maia, please let us do our job.” Both the makeup artist and the stylist were in a difficult position. They knew the consequences very well if Maia were to reject them.
Maia also understood this as she finally relented. She nodded at them and moved toward the dressing table.NôvelDrama.Org holds text © rights.
Both of them quickly got to work as they started doing her makeup and her hair. Her long hair that was braided before was left curled and resting on her shoulders.
Her vivid red lips were also changed to a different color that made her look more flirtatious. Her new aqua blue evening gown had a high slit and it showed off her slender legs in their full glory.
If Maia was a slightly cold yet elegant goodness before, she was a charming and graceful queen now. Both her makeup artist and stylist could not help but gasp at her beauty.
Seconds later, the makeup artist explained, “Ms. Maia, Mr. Cedric specifically told me not to touch your wound, so I’ve not applied any concealer. This is the first time I've ever seen anyone do something so horrible!”
“Yeah, we've discussed what we should do, and we’ve decided to hide your wound with your fringe,” the stylist added. Maia turned to study her reflection in the mirror and thanked them with a satisfied smile.
“You're very welcome, Ms. Maia. Honestly, we didn’t have to do much! You're already so beautiful!” The makeup artist gushed as she placed her items back into her kit.
The stylist added. “She’s right. The gown you're wearing is also one of the main pieces of the fashion show. Mr. Cedric has really good taste! | don’t think anyone could wear it as well as you do, Ms. Maia!”
Maia immediately studied the gown she was wearing in silence. She did not even have the time to observe what was being auctioned today when she first entered the venue.
Never would she have expected Cedric to go so far as to purchase the most expensive gown just for her. What did this all mean? Maia frowned as she was deep in thought.
Unbeknownst to her, Cedric had never left. He was still waiting for her outside the guest room.
“Mr. Cedric, I’ve told our men to take care of Josephine Taylor. They'll make sure that she would never dare hit anyone with an egg again!”
Cedric narrowed his eyes and instructed, “Spread the news of what just happened.”
He would make sure that everyone who had slandered Maia on the internet would get what they deserved! “Right away!” Baz nodded and left to get it done.
The door to the guest room opened shortly after Cedric had finish giving orders. The makeup artist and stylist approached him and told him politely that they had finished their job.
He nodded, got up and walked toward the room.
Maia was strolling elegantly out of the room. Her fair complexion was glowing against her aqua blue gown. Cedric smiled at her beautiful appearance.
“Thank you for the gown, Cedric. I'll transfer the exact amount to your account,” Maia said coldly as she continued toward the main hall without turning back.
The makeup artist and stylist were dumbfounded at Maia’s attitude toward Cedric. She was definitely a force to be reckoned with to have the guts to talk to him like that!
“She looks beautiful right?” Cedric asked Baz, who could not seem to take his eyes off Maia. Baz nodded excitedly. He had never seen someone so beautiful! “Would you still like your eyeballs attached to your head?”
The moment Baz registered what Cedric had said, he immediately shook his head violently, “I don’t think she looks good! Not at all!”
