CHAPTER 29: A DATE
CHAPTER 29: A DATE
Alana's POV
“Um, are you asking me to be your girlfriend, good Sir?” I asked as I took the single rose flower from his hand and pressed it to my nose.
“Technically, you are already my girlfriend.” He emphasized the word by lifting a brow. “But if that’s what it takes for you to go on a date with me, then by all means.” He cleared his throat with a low rumble and got down on one knee. “Milady, Alana, Princess, please be my girlfriend and go on a date with me?”
“Are those puppy eyes?” I asked, laughing from the bottom of my belly.
“Well, yes of course.” He even added an excessive flutter of his long, slick eyelashes to make him even cuter.
I gasped, clearly enjoying the role-play. “No sane person can resist those. Yes! I will.” I flung my palm to cover my mouth, wriggling with excitement.
“Thank you, baby.” He smiled, pressing a peck to my cheek. “Come on, let’s go.”
Axel interlocked hands with me, a show of affection that I was now becoming obsessed with.
“Let me get changed first,” I gestured to the rumpled tank top and bottoms I had on. My hair was tied in a messy bun to prevent it from constantly falling over my face.
“Don’t worry about that. I’ve made provisions for outfits.” He tugged on my arm.
“Really?”
“Yes. Come on, the SUV is waiting.”
“Oh, okay.”
Outside the building, an SUV was waiting like Axel had said and the driver made way to pull the door open for me but Axel held his hand up, opening the door to the passenger’s seat and gesturing for me to go in.
He made it to the other side of the car with a small jog and once the door was shut, the car boomed to life, driving off with the buildings in the pack getting smaller and smaller from the rearview mirror.
A short drive through the dense woods entertained with Axel clinging on to my hand and planting electrifying kisses over them took us to the pack entrance.
A double sky-high gate that joined even higher walls of barriers that formed the pack border was pulled open. Magic shimmered from its surface with a low buzz.
“Our date is outside the pack?” I asked, feeling a tiny twist in my chest. What for, I couldn’t explain, and what it meant, I didn’t know. Excitement maybe? Nervousness?
“Yes. I thought we could…roam around a bit.” He jutted his chin forward. “There are some great spots I think you’ll like out here.”
We passed the guards monitoring the gates and the borders and they bowed to me and Axel before the car sped off.
As overwhelming as the sight of what the outside world looked like could have been for me, I couldn’t help but think about the wolf who was captured somewhere around here. Text © by N0ve/lDrama.Org.
The tattoo on his hands showed that he must have known, or been connected with the one who attacked the pack.
It could be nothing but it could also be a step to finally finding out the status of my parents.
So I asked.
“Axel,” I swallowed. “Can I ask you a question?”
“Yes, go ahead.” His body tilted toward me, his chiseled features disorienting me for a brief second before I found my tongue again.
“The wolf that was found at the border, the one who…you know… chewed his tongue,” I shuddered at how horrifying that was. Axel nodded for me to continue. “Was he an associate of the ones that attacked the pack the day you found me in the dungeon?”
“Yes.” He maintained a blank expression.
“Who are they?”
He took a sharp inhale before responding. “The marauders. They’re a group of rogues. Not a pack, but they stay together and roam around other packs causing havoc wherever they go.”
“I recognized one of them from that day. He has a huge scar on his face. I know him from the day my pack was attacked. He was the last person I saw before my parents got lost in the chaos.”
As hard as the conversation should have been, I found myself wanting to tell Axel more. Everything. And I didn't feel the urge to cry, scream, or tear my hair.
A glint flashed in his eyes and his grip on my hand tightened for a quick second.
Did Axel have bad memories with this rogue too? Or did he know something about my parents?
“His name is Alistair Stonecold,” Axel started. “He’s been their leader for years and not that he should, but he now has bad blood with our pack, seeing from the recent attacks. It’s nothing you should be worried about, Alana, it’ll be taken care of.”
The name sent a shiver down my spine. What did this Alistair want with Crescent Moon pack? How was it connected to my real pack? Was it connected at all?
I decided to end the conversation seeing how tense Axel had become for a moment because of me. I didn’t want him closing up on me when he could probably be my best bet for any information about my parents.
“Alright, Axel. If you say so.”
We made it to a clothing line store where glittering and luxurious outfits draped over mannequins covered the entrance and could be sighted from see-through walls.
“Let’s get changed here.”
Axel held the door open for me and once inside, an attendant in a simple pants and blazer came to us and said hi to Axel.
He must have come here several times to be on a first-name basis with everybody.
“Wait! You own this place.” My hands dropped to my side when it hit me.
“Yes, Alana. We.” He chuckled.
“Wow.”
“Jesse, please take Alana to some of the dresses and help her with something she likes will you?”
“Of course, Axel.”
Jesse showed me a rack of beautiful dresses and gave a brief description as I looked over them.
My jaw dropped when I saw the price tags on the back of the dresses. I flipped through many items before settling for the one with the lowest price tag dangling from it.
It should fit me perfectly, settling just below my knees.
“You like that one?” Axel asked from his sitting position where he watched me like a hawk.
“Yes.”
“I like it too. Why not try it on?”
I did. And when I stood in front of the mirror, I gasped and my jaws dropped even lower than they had when we first walked into the store.
Day after day with Axel, I became more or less recognizable in my eyes. With the soft rays of light bouncing off the material of the blue body-hugging gown that clung to my skin, I looked like a goddess.
Axel grunted approvingly when I came back out.
“You look magnificent, Alana.”
He stalked over to me, swept my hair that I had freed to cascade down my back, and planted a resonating kiss on my neck, humming more in approval.
“Thanks, Axel,” I managed to say, keeping my tone even, even though his touch had my heartbeat rocketing through the roof.
He hummed again. Low, thick, and bated with arousal. “The things I would do to you when I take off this dress,” his finger traced the side of my neck down to my waist, and slowly grabbed a handful of
asscheeks, making me vibrate. “I would love to hear you scream my name when I’m all over you, under you, and inside you.”
As a woman with needs that had a man fine as hell comfortably flirting with me possessively in a public space with see-through walls, I reacted accordingly. The slick fluid doused the tiny lace panties between my legs and stuck to the nearest skin.
I swallowed hard and squeezed my thighs together as though that would make the juice stop flowing.
Axel’s next words confirmed that I didn't succeed in my attempt.
“Yes, Alana, let me smell you get ready for me.”
Goddess, this man was going to be the end of me.
As frightening as his claim to me was, I was eager to see what would happen when he indeed took the dress off me.
With a sharp inhale, Axel pulled back and stared me dead in the eyes. “I’ll go put on mine.”
“Yeah,” I stifled out.
He exited into the nearest room after whispering something to the attendant who batted her eyelids at him seductively before nodding and taking off.
Back off bitch or I’ll burn the hair off your head. A growl vibrated in my chest.
After a minute, Axel stepped out of the dressing room still in his sparkling white sleeves but he had added a two-piece tuxedo that matched the colors of the gown I had on.
The first two buttons undone gave me a heart attack as I swallowed in his Big Alpha Energy.
He made a tuxedo look as casual as possible but his sexiness practically seized the breath from my lungs.
“I take it you like it?” He cocked an eyebrow to me, giving me a small 360 spin.
I shook my head and focused on something else.
“Are you matching outfits with me, Alpha Axel?”
