CHAPTER 55: DRAMATIC MUCH?

CHAPTER 55: DRAMATIC MUCH?

Alana's POV

“What have I missed?” Coral asked, sipping the last of the complimentary champagne from her flute. It was her third and I was still brooding over my first and probably last.

“Not much,” I inhaled and crossed her to the shelf that had dinner gowns showcased on them.

Coral had just come back from her parents' part of the pack and according to her, they had gotten on her nerves so much about her hair, her clothes, and her lack of a mate that she decided to take out her frustration by shopping.

“I see you shining and tucking your hair behind your ears, Alana. I take it that things are good with you guys. You and Axel.”

“Yeah, something like that.” I put down my flute, singled out a particular black A-line sleek dress, and hugged it to my frame. If I was going to walk hours between rows of dresses, bags, shoes, and makeup with Coral, I might as well get something for myself too.

“That’s lovely. I wish I could say the same thing about my relationship with my parents.”

“Are they still shoving you to bond with a chosen mate?”

“Goddess, yes!” She picked up my glass, downed the remaining content, and hissed before smacking her lips. “They cornered me. I got there thinking that they just wanted to connect with me after all, it had been a while since we saw each other. But guess who was there in my parents’ house, Alana.”

“Who?” I chuckled lightly, knowing that it could only be one of Alana’s parent’s many suitors.

“Travis.”

“And Travis is…”

“‘A perfect candidate for me to bond with and have fine pups,’ in my parents' words.”

“Don’t you think that that’s the reason why you’re out here spending money on clothes that you probably won’t wear in the next couple of months and drowning in wine?”

“Maybe. They can only complain. They can’t exactly tell me what and what not to wear right?”

“Right.”

“I don’t want to talk about that right now. Let’s … that conversation,” she tsked and imitated her neck

being sliced, making her deep green eyes pop.

“That’s fine by me. You should keep that,” I tilted my chin to the camouflage knee-high boots she had been holding for the last two minutes, doing nothing but turning it and sizing it up in the air.

“I was checking to make sure it’s your size. It would look f.i.r.e on you. And you can’t refuse because it’s on me.”

I wasn’t going to lie, I had checked it over and over again since Coral had it in her hands. “Now I’m getting you something too,” I said to her, taking the boots from her and passing them back after a little examination.

“I thought you just said I have more than enough clothes for the next few months?”

“Who said anything about clothes?” I cocked her an eyebrow. As an attendant passed by Coral and me, I stopped her and asked. “Hello, good afternoon, Bree,” I called the name on her tag and flashed her my biggest smile. “Could you please show us to the vibrators section? My friend here needs a husband.”

Coral burst out laughing and doubled over to the floor, grabbing her side from the intensity.

The slightly confused attendant pointed us in the direction and left.

“You crack me up, Alana. You just have a way to lighten the dullest modes ever. How the hell did you think about that in seconds?”

I shrugged. “Call it a superpower.”

“Whatever girl. Speaking of superpowers, how is Rox getting along with being back? And being around Axel’s wolf? He can be a little bit bossy,” she scrunched her nose.

“It’s fine,” Coral had finally settled on the last dresses and we were now heading to the makeup section. “We went on a run together the other day in Emerald pack. It was nice. Really nice atmosphere. And they had these magnificent peacocks. A handful of them. Have you seen those?” I imitated my head exploding for effect.

“Yeah, yeah, back up, Alana. Emerald pack? Run together?” her chin jutted to me and almost even whacked me in the face.

“Yeah,” I deliberately ignored her questions, seeing how curious she was. “And then they had these animals everywhere. Pallas…”

“I don’t give a heck about peacocks and Pallas whatever, Alana. What do you mean Emerald pack?”

Her eyebrows were almost past her hairline and I’m certain that if she tried any harder to bludge her eyeballs, they would pop from their sockets.

“I was bored, Axel took me on a tour to Emerald Pack for the evening,” I quirked one shoulder like it was nothing.

Coral plopped to the ground in an instant, scattering all of her makeup products on the floor and rolling back and forth, wailing.

“Dramatic much?” I asked as I laughed and watched Coral perform on the ground.

“Alana, that is the life! Goddess,” she stood up to her feet and started to trail after her rolling mascara and primers. “He loves you,” her eyes turned all warm and emotional. “Very. Very. Much. It’s in everything he does and doesn’t.”

Axel may not have spelled the three words to me, but I didn’t need a shaman to tell it to me. As Coral said, it was in everything he did. I, on the other hand, needed no conviction whatsoever that I loved him too. I felt it in the last nerves in my body and my mind was constantly clouded by thoughts of him.

He was a part of me physically and emotionally, and I couldn’t picture life without him. All I could picture was the life that we were building together and the one we were going to have in the future.

I cleared my throat, feeling a lump forming. “I know, I do,” was all I said. Quietly.

“And I know you love him too,” Coral cast her all-knowing gaze to me. “Even if you’re probably too shy to admit it to me,” she tipped her lips into a one-sided grin.

“I mean, I can’t really stand those eyes. They’re so beautiful. And those toned muscles,” I inhaled sharply and shook my head. “I just can’t resist.”

Coral tipped her head backward and laughed. “Well, you should plan something for him then.” This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org - ©.

My head whipped from the aisle of lip glosses to Coral who was behind me.

“It’s his birthday next week, you know? He has always spent it holed up in his office or deep in the forest for the last…million years,” Coral gestured over her head. “I had a feeling it had to do with you not being around. I don’t know what he's planning to do this year, but I think it would be nice if you planned something.”

She was right. For the last couple of months, Axel had continually gone out of his way to show me just how much he cared about me. He protected me, loved me, fought for me, cared for me, and I was always on the receiving end.

This was one perfect opportunity to show him just how much he meant to me. Knowing how private

and personal Axel liked his things, I had to plan something small.

Ideas flooded my mind and my heart only kept leaping in excitement.

“There’s so much to do,” I fully turned to Coral and smiled.

This was going to be awesome.
