Chapter 100 Acceptance of the Proposal
Xander said, “Mr Silverton instructed me to do so.”
Ronan was already angry, and now, with the original 900 million reduced to 300 million, wasn’t this a breach of trust?
He angrily went to confront Elijah. However, Elijah had just finished discussing matters with Mr Wolfe. When Mr Wolfe saw Ronan, he awkwardly smiled and left without greeting. Compared to dealing with Ronan, he preferred collaborating with Elijah.
Ronan didn’t say anything particularly harsh. Before signing the contract, it wasn’t considered a breach, and being in the same circle, there was no need to make the meeting awkward. He still had a big picture in mind.
After Mr Wolfe walked away, Ronan spoke up, “Mr Silverton, are you going back on your word?”
Elijah walked towards his office, with Ronan following him, complaining, “You set the price, and now you’re only giving 300 million? What does this mean?”
Xander, holding the painting, looked at Ronan, his eyes wide. He wondered, was 300 million not enough for this painting? He himself didn’t understand why Elijah wanted to buy this painting in the first place. After all, the painting wasn’t worth that much money.
Elijah sat down on the chair behind his desk. He adjusted his collar, pulled it open slightly, and glanced at Ronan, saying, “Freya and you have a 70-30 split, right? I’ll give you the share, so isn’t the amount I’m offering fair?”
“It’s not like that…” Ronan wanted to explain. Why did he feel like he had worked so hard to plan the art exhibition, only for Freya to benefit from it and serving Elijah’s purpose?
“It’s a 70-30 split, and I get 70% while Freya gets 30%.” Ronan emphasized.
He didn’t care! He should be getting 600 million. However, Elijah didn’t buy into his argument. “The money is in my hands, and I can distribute it as I see fit. If you find it insufficient, you can refuse.”
What kind of logic was this?
Ronan was really infuriated. After calming down a bit, he realized that he hadn’t gained any advantages in dealing with Elijah. Elijah was cunning and crafty. Getting a little was better than getting nothing at all anyway.
“My project is on hold, losing money every day. With the collaboration with Mr Wolfe, I could have earned over ten billion. However, you poached the opportunity. Well, it’s the business world, and I admit that you outsmarted me. But, Elijah, don’t be too pleased. I know that Freya Stone is your secret wife, right?”
Elijah had no expression on his face, as if he hadn’t heard Ronan’s words. He calmly opened a folder, browsed through the contents, and raised his eyelids slightly. In reality, his heart wasn’t calm at all. Freya had disclosed their affair to Ronan?
He took a deep breath.
Ronan continued, “I also know that she cuckolded you.”
“You can leave after you finish speaking,” Elijah signed the documents, closed the folder, and placed it aside.
“Are you really that generous? The painting you bought, wasn’t it meant to be torn up in frustration?” Ronan, feeling unsatisfied, tried to provoke him further.
Elijah, if he didn’t know about that night, might have been furious at this point. However, that night had been him.
Was he supposed to be jealous of himself?
He gave Ronan a meaningful look.
Ronan was puzzled by the look. What did it mean?
“Xander, see Mr Vega off,” Elijah spoke in a low voice. He didn’t have time to listen to Ronan’s endless complaints.
“Mr Vega, please,” Xander made a gesture to escort him out.
With a chest full of anger, Ronan turned away to leave. Just as he reached the doorway, his phone rang. Answering it, the caller informed him, “Your painting has been snatched away.”
“When did this happen?”
“Just now.”
“Do you know who did it?”
“It seems to be Mr Silverton’s people. They took it by force.”
Ronan went completely mad. He turned and charged towards Elijah’s desk, slamming his hands down. Perhaps he exerted too much force; his palms stung. Despite the pain, he looked furious, gritting his teeth and addressing Elijah directly, “Elijah, you’ve gone too far!”
At that moment, Xander walked over and informed Elijah, “The painting has been acquired.”
Only then did Elijah take a proper look at Ronan.
So, it was the painting that had driven him into such rage!
If Ronan wanted to be angry, then let him continue.
Elijah spoke indifferently, “Burn it.”
The painting was a gift from Freya to Ronan. Elijah would turn it into ashes! Ronan was left speechless, too enraged to form words.
Xander made a call to get things sorted and, while at it, issued another order, “Mr Vega, it’s time to leave.”
Ronan seethed with suppressed anger, unable to let it out. What rattled his cage more was that, intentionally or unintentionally, Xander let him see the scene of his painting being burned when he left the company.
“Xander, does Elijah like Freya?” Ronan couldn’t figure it out.
Why wasn’t Elijah angry? If he liked Freya, how could he have pushed her off the building?
Xander, with a smile, said, “How would I, as his subordinate, know about my boss’s personal matters?”
In fact, Xander did know.
Ronan snorted, “People like you reflect the nature of your boss. You’re not a good person either!”
Xander didn’t argue, just smiled.
Ronan looked at the painting burned to ashes, his eyes twitching. It was so inauspicious.
Only dead people burned paintings.
Was this cursing him to death?
He drove back, but suddenly turned a corner and headed to the hospital.
After arriving at the hospital, he went directly to find Freya. Freya was asleep at the moment, and Linda wasn’t around.
Ronan was in a bad mood. He woke her up abruptly. “Freya Stone!”
Freya was awakened and, rubbing her eyes, looked at him.
“Did you lie to me?” he questioned sharply.
Freya, still somewhat dazed, asked, “Lie to you about what?”
“When you ran away, Elijah came looking for you not because you cuckolded him, right?”
“Did you go to see him?” Freya Stone asked.
“What do you think?” Ronan’s tone was confrontational.
“I didn’t deceive you. If he didn’t hate me, why would he throw me down the stairs? Look at my leg. You witnessed it. Do I need to say more?”
Ronan indeed couldn’t refute her. He had indeed witnessed Elijah throwing Freya down from the second floor.
“But why did I mock him, and he didn’t get angry about you cuckolding him?!”
“He is someone who is good at disguising his emotions. How could you know his mood? Besides, even if he’s angry, he won’t show it in front of you. Doesn’t he want to make you a laughingstock? Would he act so foolishly? Even if he is angry, he’ll hold it in or vent it on me.”
Ronan thought about it and realized that Elijah must have been trying to appear strong at the time.
“So, I caused you trouble, didn’t I?” Ronan suddenly realized.
Freya said indifferently, “It doesn’t matter. I was hoping he would get angry. That way, he would divorce me sooner.”
Ronan licked his lips, suddenly having a wicked idea. “The plan I mentioned before, acting with me to make him jealous, you agree to it now, right?”
Freya fell silent, contemplating. She did need to get a divorce quickly. This is property © NôvelDrama.Org.
She was thinking about her son.
“Okay…”
Before she finished speaking, the door to the hospital room suddenly opened.
