Chapter 98 Unveiling Secrets
Elijah spoke in a low voice, “I feel more pain than you.”
It was heartache.
He gently caressed the corners of her eyes, tender and warm. “You married me, you are mine. It’s our destiny, and you need to play the role of a wife.”
In the past, he used to scoff at the word destiny, not believing in such things. However, now, with Freya, he believed in it. He believed there was a destiny between them. That night was their wedding night. Even if he didn’t meet her, they still became husband and wife, sharing intimate moments.
Wasn’t this a destined fate?
Freya choked back tears.
If it weren’t for her having a child, she would have been willing to uphold her commitment to Jack Silverton, regardless of Elijah’s feelings or treatment towards her. But now, the situation was different. She had a child, and the child wasn’t Elijah’s. If Elijah found out, given his temperament, there might be trouble. For her, divorce seemed like the best option for both of them.
“You know, I’m not a pure woman. Don’t you feel insulted?” she asked with a hoarse voice.
He looked at her and said, “No.”
Freya widened her eyes.
This didn’t seem like him.
He was a proud man.
How could he not care?
She clearly remembered the disdainful look he gave her when he found out about her past relationships.
“Are you out of your mind?” How else could she explain such nonsense?
“I’m very clear-headed,” Elijah said, looking at her. Warningly, he added, “From now on, stay away from Ronan Vega. I don’t care if you have any feelings for him, but from this moment, you are mine. No thinking about other men.”
This was probably the most humble thing Elijah had ever said. Freya pursed her lips and remained silent. Even though Elijah had lowered himself to such an extent, she still didn’t give up the idea of divorce. She couldn’t stay by Elijah’s side forever, pretending to be his nominal wife. She needed to take care of her son. Her son already didn’t have a father; he couldn’t be without a mother as well.
“Why aren’t you saying anything? Do you want to leave me so badly?” Elijah asked, seeing her silence.
“Yes, I want a divorce,” Freya responded.
Elijah’s patience had its limits, and she had crossed the line repeatedly.Content held by NôvelDrama.Org.
“Because of Ronan Vega?” His eyes emitted a bone-chilling coldness.
Freya looked away, softly murmuring, “Yes.”
Elijah had the impulse to strangle her, but he restrained himself.
“I don’t care who you think about, but from now on, you are mine. If you dare to mess around, I’ll make sure the man you mess around with meets his end!”
Bang!
The door to the hospital room suddenly burst open.
Orion, with red eyes, barged in. Seeing Elijah pressing Freya on the bed, his sanity returned a bit. “I, I…”
“Get out!” Elijah angrily commanded.
Orion quickly closed the door. Standing by the door, he regained composure. He had rushed in because he urgently needed to find Freya.
In the room, Elijah got up, Freya’s clothes were disheveled, revealing her slim waist. Elijah pulled down her dress, covered her with a blanket.
Orion knocked on the door.
Elijah said, “Come in.”
Orion pushed the door open and walked in. He still smelled strongly of alcohol and looked disheveled.
“Drinking again?” Elijah sat on the sofa, glancing at him. “If you’ve been drinking, why not sleep at home? Why come here?”
Orion said, “I’m looking for Freya.”
“She’s busy…”
“I really have something to say, or else I’ll be depressed to death.” Orion interrupted him.
Elijah pondered for a moment, then didn’t say anything more, tacitly allowing him.
Orion didn’t move forward, just stood by the door, looking at Freya. “Tell me, did Luna leave me because she fell in love with someone else?”
Freya hadn’t asked, and Luna hadn’t said.
She told the truth, “I don’t know.”
Orion thought she was lying. They had always been in contact. How could she not know Luna’s situation?
“I treated you well, why would you hide it from me?” he asked.
Freya said, “I really didn’t hide it from you.”
Orion still didn’t believe it, sitting on the floor by the door.
Freya had never seen Orion like this. He was usually a cheerful person. Now, he seemed desolate, and she couldn’t help but feel sorry for him.
Orion was a good person, good to her. When he was with Luna, he was also gentle and considerate, rejecting all the advances from other girls, giving Luna a sense of security. Freya was also curious about why Luna left so suddenly. She believed Luna must have an unspeakable secret. But she didn’t believe Luna left because she fell in love with someone else.
Freya sighed deeply.
Elijah got up and walked over.
Freya was just about to relax her emotions, but she tensed up again, looking at him warily. “You, stay away from me.”
“How could she treat me like this?!!” Orion buried his head in his arms.
Freya wanted to console him, but she didn’t know what words could ease his pain. Perhaps there were no words that could alleviate someone’s suffering. In this world, there was no such thing as truly understanding others’ pain without experiencing it firsthand.
“If you need to vent, just let it out. It might make you feel a bit better,” she suggested.
Orion’s shoulders trembled, and he gave a hoarse, self-deprecating laugh.
How could he vent?
The more he drank, the clearer his mind became. It didn’t ease the pain. On the contrary, it made it even more unbearable! He couldn’t accept it.
“How could she marry another man and have a child? How could she! How could she be so heartless to break my heart!!”
Freya was puzzled, “She had a child?”
As far as she knew, that wasn’t the case. Soon, she figured it out. Luna must have used Kai to deceive Orion and make him give up.
Freya didn’t question Luna Ann about why she left before. Now she wanted to know. What unspeakable secret did Luna have to hurt a man who liked her and loved her so much?
“Don’t pretend. She confessed everything to me.” Orion thought Freya was still hiding the truth about Luna.
Freya didn’t explain.
Orion sat there, unwilling to leave.
Elijah called Xander to come over.
Xander arrived quickly.
“Take him away.”
Xander glanced at Orion on the floor and said, “Got it.”
He supported Orion and thought of something else to say, “We disrupted Ronan Vega’s collaboration. Now the other party has agreed to work with us, and the collaboration proposal has been submitted. Would you like to take a look?”
“Tomorrow,” Elijah responded.
“Yes, sir.” Xander escorted Orion away, who kept muttering, “I won’t leave. I want to ask Freya why she’s so ruthless, conspiring with Luna to deceive me…”
“How could they treat me like this?”
His voice echoed in the corridor, gradually fading away.
Freya listened quietly, feeling sympathy for Orion. He had given his heart to Luna. Otherwise, he wouldn’t be so devastated. In this aspect, she envied Luna, who could have a man’s sincere affection.
She sighed deeply.
Elijah walked over.
Just as Freya was about to relax, her guard went up again, and she looked at him warily. “Stay away from me.”
