Chapter 517
Chapter 517
Patricia was flattering her. Alma was stunned. She wanted to agree with her immediately, but she kept
her guessing. She replied slowly, "Lucille has been hospitalized recently, so I'm a bit busy. What about
next week? It should be okay."
"Sure, let's keep in touch."
When Patricia saw her attitude, she could no longer hold on to her smile, but she still maintained the
manner that a noble lady should have.
The three women left.
After sitting down, Alma was in a good mood.
Natasha took the opportunity to say, "Mom, she invited you to have tea together. Why don't you buy me
that dress?"
"You only know about the dress! Why do you want to dress up so nicely? You should go plain and
approach Lucille."
Alma raised her head to gaze at her good-for-nothing daughter. When she thought of Lucille having
Franklin and then Zoel, she was smoldering with anger.
"Why should I approach her? For what?"
Natasha scorned.
"For the fact that her boyfriend was powerful enough that Mrs. Jenkins was willing to invite me to have
tea."
Natasha had clearly seen the changes in Patricia's attitude when she was at the side a moment ago.
However, she did not understand how a museum owner could be so powerful.
She muttered, "Is that her boyfriend? He just showed up in her ward. Did he admit himself that he was
her boyfriend? Besides, Lucille has a child with her. He is so rich and can have all kinds of women by
his side. Why does he take a fancy to Lucille?"
Hearing this, Alma also felt Natasha's words made sense.
However, she saw clearly in the ward that Zoel was standing up for Lucille. She lowered her voice and
told Natasha, "Since Lucille is still at the hospital, visit her when you have the time. Talk to her nicely
and ask about her relationship with Zoel as well. If it is true, you can ask him to introduce someone to
you."
"Me? I don't want to go, and Lucille will definitely not let him introduce someone to me!"
"Why not?"
"Because last time..." Natasha took a sip of coffee and awkwardly told Alma about what she put in the Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.
cookie box last time.
She did not even dare to tell about the photos that she sent to Lucille.
"Are you crazy? Why didn't you discuss it with me before you did it?"
Alma slammed her palm on the table in rage!
The waiter had no choice but to shush them again.
Natasha muttered in a low voice, "How would I know that she found another man? I thought she was
dumped by President Moore..."
She had never expected that Lucille could make a comeback so quickly.
"Apologize to her!" Alma instructed firmly.
"What? I don't want to!"
"You have no choice. Don't you want to get rich without working? With the status of our family, we can
only marry you to someone decent. The Moore family was a huge bonus for us last time. If you want to
get a better man, you have to rely on Lucille!"
For Alma, a daughter was just someone who could provide her a good life and for her to show off.
Lucille was not as valuable as Natasha to her. "Stop talking nonsense! Otherwise, I won't give you any
money for the next month!" Alma hissed.
"Alright."
What Natasha feared most was to have no money to spend.
Lucille should have been discharged from the hospital early because she had a smooth delivery, but
due to Aurora's problem, she had to stay in the hospital for a few more days.
Marie sent her meals everyday when she was in the hospital.
However, Zoel was the one who accompanied Lucille most of the time. Although she had repeatedly
told him that she didn't need it, Zoel still came everyday.
On the fifth day of Lucille's hospitalization, Marie went back to prepare dinner after sending lunch to
her.
Aurora was still sleeping while Lucille was reading a book on the side.
"Knock, knock, knock."
There was a light knock on the door of the ward.
Lucille thought it was Zoel at first. As she would breastfeed Aurora sometimes, every time Zoel came,
he would knock on the door before coming in.
"I am not breastfeeding. Please come in."
She sat on the bed and had no intention of getting off.
After she waited for a while, no one entered. She thought that Zoel did not hear her, so she finally got
out of bed and opened the door.
Lucille trod to the door and said while opening it, "Mr. Parker, why are you so early today?"
When she said the word "early" and saw the khaki pants and white shirt in front of her, her hand froze
suddenly on the door handle.
The man's name was sewed on the cuff of his blouse with inconspicuous grey thread.
Lucille did not look up, but she had already felt the oppressive sight of the man above her head.
After a while, she heard his voice. "It's me. Do you feel disappointed?"
"Why are you here?"
Lucille blocked Franklin at the door. She didn't mean to let him in.
She didn't want him to see Aurora's cleft lip.
"You refuse to let me enter?"
He spoke in an indifferent tone with no emotions. However, Lucille knew that he was usually good-
tempered, so he was already displeased when he spoke in such a tone.
However, to stop him, Lucille had no intention of letting him in at all. Instead, she said, "Mr. Moore, the
child and I have nothing to do with you anymore. Please leave."
She talked to him in a respectful manner.
"Why should I listen to you?"
"It's not that... Well, the fact is that we've divorced."
For the first time, Lucille felt that the divorce was a good excuse.
A divorce could easily break the relationship between them.
"I remembered you told me back then that if the child was mine, I'd have to give you a chance,"
Franklin uttered.
"But you've refused me, haven't you?"
"Did I refuse? I remember that I told you to come to me after the labor."
Franklin's words reminded Lucille how delighted she was when he said that.
"Mr. Moore, I'm sorry. This is my child, not yours," she said firmly.
"Really?" He raised his eyebrows and stared at Lucille, who didn't dare to look up from the beginning.
He said, "Get out of the way. I'm here to have a DNA test."
While talking, Franklin grabbed her thin arm and forced her to move away!
"No! Mr. Moore, you have so many girlfriends. If you want, many women are willing to give birth to a
child for you. Why are you so obsessed with my child?" When Lucille spoke, she grasped the door
firmly.
"Do you want to know?" He lowered his head and peered at her keenly.
"Yes..."
Lucille gazed back at him, who squinted his eyes. She couldn't help but look forward to his answer.
What exactly was she expecting?
However, what he told her in the next second broke her heart completely.
He said, "If she's my child, I wouldn't hope for you to use her to fight for my property in the future."
Every word he uttered was like the tip of a needle, stabbing into Lucille's broken heart, making her feel
so painful that she felt suffocated.
It turned out that he came here for this!
