Chapter 1277
"No, I'm very strong," Esther said, her voice raspy as if her throat was raw. She struggled to speak clearly, so Pearl had to read her lips to understand.
"How can you still joke at a time like this?" Pearl asked as she pulled out a single dose of medication from her bag. "It's ready. I've lowered the risk as much as I could, but it's not 100% safe," she added, looking down, guilty. "And I can't promise it will cure you."
Esther knew this might happen and felt sad, but she had chosen this path. "It's fine," she said, trying to comfort Pearl.
"Hold on, Miss Pearl. Our hospital doesn't allow outside medication for the patients," a nurse said, noticing the medication.
"The patient agreed to it," Pearl replied.
"I'm sorry, but we have rules," the nurse said, stuck in a difficult position.
"Who should I talk to about this?" Pearl asked.
The nurse sighed. "Why don't you wait while I check with the lead doctor?"
"Please hurry," Pearl said, thanking her.
After a while, the nurse returned with the hospital director.
"This isn't allowed here. If anything goes wrong, the hospital could be held responsible," the director said firmly.
"I'll take full responsibility," Pearl insisted.Published by Nôv'elD/rama.Org.
"That doesn't change anything. The hospital would still be involved," the director said.
Pearl was desperate. "What if I exchange Simon Freeman's formula for this?"
simon, far away in a lab, sneezed. "Is it getting cold? Why did I sneeze?"
"Simon Freeman?" the director exclaimed, surprised. "What's your relationship with him?"
"I'm his student," Pearl said, relieved her connection had an impact.
"You're Simon's student? I apologize for not recognizing you," the director said, his attitude softening. "You can go ahead."
Confused by the sudden change, the young nurse asked, "Sir, didn't you say... this goes against our rules..."
"What do you know? Don't you know Simon Freeman? Be quiet and don't show your ignorance," the director scolded.
With the director's approval, Pearl gave the medication to Esther.
