Chapter 147 Detection Deadline
Chapter 147 Detection Deadline
The dead people were all ordinary people in these two cases. They didn’t have a prestigious family
background nor at deep enmity with others. They were simply normal in all ways.
If the murderer killed them all without interrupting the neighbours, he should stop their breathes or
make them let off no sound in a short time.
However, the autopsy found they were all killed by knives and all of them had more than one injury not
caused by cold steels, which meant that they had time to let off sound from the time they got cut to their
death.
The fact was not the same as the speculation. It was reasonable if their neighbours lived far from them.
However, residences in this village were close to each other to make a full use of space.
Besides, the residences were all not of a large square. If the murder happened just next door, it was
weird if the victims didn’t make any sound.
Shaer told them the murderer had carried a sword with him. However, all victims weren’t died of sword
cut, which proved that Shaer’s words were useless.
Thinking of this, Yu Wenhao couldn’t help letting off a sigh subconsciously.
Yuan Qingling embraced around d his neck and then moved her hand upwards to ease his frown,
asking in a dazed voice, “Why are you sighing? What happened?”
Yu Wenhao hurriedly embraced her and comforted, “Don’t worry. I just hope you can get well soon.”
“You’re lying!” Yuan Qingling’s voice was hoarse carried with drowsy sound as she was about to fall
asleep. She moved her body and put both her feet on his legs. She posted a comfortable gesture which
would not press her injury, asking, “You seem to have something on your mind. Is it about the case?”
Yu Wenhao reached out his hands below and carefully adjusted her injury legs, asking, “Why are you
so smart? Why can you tell what I am thinking of?”
“Yes, you can never lie to me.” Yuan Qingling opened her eyes and looked at him in a daze, saying,
“Talk with me. Maybe I can help you.”
Yu Wenhao touched her lip and remarked, “Those two cases didn’t leave any clue. We also didn’t know
what kind of weapon the murderer used. It seems the murderer just randomly grabbed a weapon to kill
them.”
“Was it done by a lunatic?” Yuan Qingling asked.
“It seems to be, but it won’t be because the spot don’t have any evidence, murder weapon nor
witnesses…Never mind. We can’t find any witness and no one heard any screams. A lunatic can’t
arrange everything in such an elaborate way.”
Yuan Qingling felt the cases were very weird and asked, “Are those residences close to each other? No
one will let off sound if the whole family are killed.”
“Unless they were knocked out at first.”
Yu Wenhao shook his head and replied, “That’s not possible. An infant doesn’t die in those two cases.
It was found that they were conscious and didn’t inhale any knock-out drops.”
“That’s weird.” Yuan Qingling thought for a while and asked, “Is it possible that the murderer killed them
with only one cut? But there were so many people and he couldn’t kill all of them at one time.”
“The dead bodies got lots of injuries and it could be told that they were not killed with one cut.” Yu
Wenhao didn’t want to discuss about such cruel things with her at night. He gently covered her eyes
and suggested, “Well, never mind. Let’s sleep first.”
“Well.” Yuan Qingling slowly closed her eyes and suddenly asked, “Have you seen the body yet?”
“No, I haven’t, but the coroner draws the same conclusion with post-mortem examiner.”
Yuan Qingling didn’t know much about investigation. When finding she couldn’t be of any help, she
decided to stop asking to let her husband go to sleep.
Men who had to attend the early court were the bravest because no matter how warm bed was and
how attractive their wives were, they had to get up early in the morning to prepare.
Yu Wenhao instructed the servants to bring clothes to the room beside in order to not wake Yuan
Qingling up. He would directly go the next door to change clothes, brush his teeth and wash face.
Yuan Qingling was deep in sleep because pills’ effect. She didn’t know Yu Wenhao went away.
Before leaving, Yu Wenhao remarked to Qi Luo, “Let the cooks to prepare bird’s nest soup. It’s better
for the princess to have it after she wakes up. Remember the goat milk which boils together with the
bird’s nest must be fresh. She doesn’t love sugars so put less sugars as possible.”
Qi Luo smiled and replied, “I know. Prince, you’re so considerate.”
Why didn’t find out the prince was so careful before?
Yu Wenhao looked delighted. He had to be careful to take a good care of his careless wife. If he didn’t
take extra care, his wife wouldn’t remember to treat herself better.
After experiencing the time when almost lost her, Yu Wenhao knew to cherish her.
During the early court, the officers stood in two lines according to their different streams as civil officers
and military officers.
Emperor Mingyuan went towards the imperial throne and slowly sat down. The officers all greeted him Published by Nôv'elD/rama.Org.
for three times. The emperor glanced at them and remarked, “Stand up. Tell me what is going on these
days!”
Master Chu stood out first and reported, “Emperor, two murder cases happened in the capital city and
have arisen lots of residences to discuss. The residences can’t set their mind at ease if the murderer
cannot be found. It will rise a panic if it cannot be solved!”
Lots of people followed his advice when seeing Master Chu provided suggestion.
Yu Wenhao felt a bit stressed. He guessed it right that someone would mention the cases.
Emperor Mingyuan looked at Yu Wenhao and asked, “Have you made any progress on the cases?”
Yu Wenhao could offhand with him if he had some findings. However, he didn’t make any progress. He
could only shake his hands and replied in honesty, “Emperor, we haven’t made any progress on the
cases. We don’t have murder weapons, witnesses nor clues.”
Emperor showed an unpleasant look.
Why was his son so honest?
Master Chu remarked, “The prince just took over Jingzhao Department. He was not familiar with
solving cases. How about handing the cases to ministry of penalty? They may solve the cases early to
set the residences’ mind at ease.”
It meant Yu Wenhao was a useless prince if the ministry of penalty really took over the cases.
Besides, it also humiliated the emperor because he was the one who commanded Yu Wenhao to be
the capital mayor.
Emperor Mingyuan got angrier. However, he was always polite when facing Master Chu, replying,
“Don’t worry. Let’s give prince Wenhao days to be familiar with his duty. The cases can also give him a
chance to prove his ability.”
Then the emperor turned to look at Yu Wenhao and remarked, “Master Chu and I both hope you do
great things. Don’t let Master Chu down.”
Yu Wenhao replied, “I will solve the cases as soon as possible.”
“You should hurry up!” Master Chu turned around to look at him and said, “Prince, the case has a
terrible impact. If we can’t find the murder, maybe he will take action again and hurt more innocent
residences. How many days will you take to solve the cases?”
How many days? Yu Wenhao showed a bitter smile in his mind. It would even take months to find
clues.
“Three days?” Master Chu asked.
Prince Wenju stood out and remarked, “Father, Master Chu, the case is complex and can’t be solved in
a short time. How about setting the limit as ten days?”
The Minister of Punishment remarked, “The murderer may take action again if we wait for ten more
days. Emperor, I suggest to give him seven days. The ministry of penalty will provide help at any time if
needed.”
Yu Wenhao got really anxious when hearing their discussion.
He didn’t find any clues now and it may be the same even he was given ten more days.
However, he had to show his attitude at this point.
Thinking of this, he clasped his hands together and remarked, “Emperor, I think seven days is enough!”
Emperor Mingyuan nodded saying, “Well, you must solve the cases in seven days.”
Emperor Mingyuan didn’t say that he would lose this hob if he couldn’t keep his promise. However, it
could be sure that lots of officers and residences would stop trusting him if he couldn’t.
