Chapter 368
Chapter 368
Xavier's face tensed up, and his voice was low. "I see."
Arya looked at him. "Are you that busy?"
She thought it was Jacob who called again because of the company business.
Xavier put down his phone, got in the car, and said, "No."
He started the car quickly, and Arya didn't notice because she was happy.
"Do you think grandpa will be happy to know?" Arya imagined what Cullen would look like when he
knew.
Xavier held the steering wheel in one hand and her hand in the other.
Arya looked at him sideways, feeling that something was wrong, but she couldn't tell what was wrong.
She sat quietly, feeling inexplicably uneasy.
Soon the car stopped at the hospital, and Xavier asked Arya to get out of the car first.
Arya pushed open the door and got down. She stood by the car and looked at him through the window.
He was on the phone. The car window was soundproof, and she could not hear what Xavier said. She
could only see that he looked serious.
Soon, Xavier got out of the car and walked around to her side. He put his arm around her waist and
said, "Let's go in."
Arya didn't move. She looked at Xavier. "Are you hiding something from me?"
Xavier held her in his arms and stroked her back. "I just received a call from the Deputy..."
Arya had an answer in her heart, even if Xavier didn't say it directly.
Arya opened her eyes, sniffed, and said, "Come in with me."
Xavier walked in with her in his arms. The Deputy walked back and forth alone at the door of the ward,
looking extremely anxious.
Seeing Xavier and Arya, the Deputy trotted to them. "The doctors are inside. They have prepared us
for what's going to happen."
Not long after, the door opened, and several attending doctors came out with serious expressions.
"We've tried our best. You can go in and see him for the last time."
"Please, save him. He will be able to hold on for a while..." The Deputy couldn't accept it and grabbed
one of the doctors.
Arya looked calm on the face.
But she couldn't move at all.
Cullen lay there, without a trace of blood on his face. The doctors removed all the medical equipment.
There was nothing but a bed and him.
Cullen looked lonely. He raised his hand with difficulty.
Arya walked to the bed and slowly bent down, holding his wrinkled hand with both hands.
Cullen opened his mouth and made a hoarse voice with difficulty. "Fortunately, I can see you for the
last time..."
Arya squatted by the bed and looked at him gently. "You will live a long life."
Cullen smiled. "No. I am satisfied to see my granddaughter again before I die..." Before he could finish
his sentence, he coughed wildly, and his face turned red.
Arya stroked his back. She tried her best to make herself smile, but she couldn't help to be teary. She
opened her eyes wide to prevent tears from falling. "Xavier promised me to go back with you. I'll
accompany you back to your house. I want to see your home is like..."
Cullen also wanted to take Arya back, but it was too late.
He reached out his other hand to Xavier. Xavier held his hand. "Don't worry. I'll take good care of Arya
for you."
Cullen nodded slightly. "I believe you. From now on, I'll leave Arya to you..."
His hands kept shaking, even a little unstable. He put Arya's hands in Xavier's palm. "It's a pity that I
didn't see your wedding with my own eyes. I haven't had time to see my great-granddaughter..."
Just then, there was a noise at the door. Jacob was holding Ryan, and Daisy was holding Ramona.
Arya took Ramona from Daisy's arms and carried her to the bed for Cullen to see. Arya told Cullen,
"Dad and Xavier named her Ramona..."
Cullen's muddy eyes sparkled with a trace of light. "Ramona... What a good name."
"It's great... "
He gasped excitedly, grabbed Xavier's hand, and trembled. "You know my thoughts best... Thank
you..."
Slowly, his hand loosened and fell. His eyes closed, and he no longer breathed.
The tears that Arya was holding back gushed out in an instant silently.
Daisy did not dare to persuade her. She took Ramona and Ryan out.
The atmosphere here was not suitable for children.
Xavier asked the Deputy and Jacob to stay, and he sent Arya home.
Xavier held her shoulder. "If you need anything, tell me. I'll do it."
Arya did not speak, and her body shivered slightly in Xavier's arms.
Xavier didn't know how to comfort her.
She had never felt the warmth of her family. She, at last, had a reunion with Cullen with great
difficulties, but it was so short.
Walking through the hall and down the steps outside the door, Arya suddenly knelt on one knee. Her
suppressed emotions and pain burst out.
Her shoulders kept shrugging as she sobbed, "I don't have a father or a mother, and now I don't even
have a grandfather..."
She knelt with a loud plop. The patients and doctors in the hall looked over here.
Xavier bent over and picked her up, rubbing her arms with his palms to comfort her.
Her tears flew down her cheeks, and her face was pressed against his chest. She clutched his collar
tightly.
No one could take the pain for her, and Xavier could only let her vent it. When she lay weakly in her
arms, her body was still trembling.
Xavier put her in the car. She didn't move as if she had lost all her energy.
When they returned to the hospital, Xavier put her on the bed. She curled up on her side, showing a Ccontent © exclusive by Nô/vel(D)ra/ma.Org.
sign of uneasiness and insecurity.
Xavier sat by the bed and wiped her tears. "You're not alone. You still have me, Ryan and Ramona..."
Suddenly, Arya turned around, hugged Xavier, and cried in his arms. "Don't leave me."
Xavier kissed her hand. "Arya, I never thought that I would care so much about a woman in my life. If I
hadn't met you, I would have gotten married and had children without love. Do you think I'm biased?"
He closed his eyes and rubbed her hand with his face. Her palm was cold.
He used his temperature to warm her up.
