Chapter 133
Chapter 133
Gwendolyn was roughly dragged into an abandoned construction shack, the skin exposed on her limbs scraping against the gritty pavement, tearing flesh from bone.
Thrown to the ground, a cloud of dust billowed around her. With feeble effort, she pried her eyes open to face her captors, Waldo and Bill.
“Waldo, this chick’s got some smarts. She filmed me to clear her name,” Bill sneered, toying with a smartphone before deliberately smashing it on the ground in front of Gwendolyn.
“You dare to record me?” he spat viciously.
The phone shattered into pieces, along with the evidence Gwendolyn and her friend. Sandra had collected.
Yet, Bill seemed to overlook that it wasn’t Gwendolyn’s phone. They had forgotten to frisk. Gwendolyn. The destroyed device was Sandra’s, while hers remained hidden in her secret pocket
Years of pharmaceutical exposure had given her a tolerance to sedatives, but her strength. had yet to return. Gwendolyn had regained consciousness on the way and managed to hit the power button, dialing an emergency contact, uncertain if the call had gone
through.
Bill looked eagerly at Waldo, “Waldo, I’ve done my part. Can I go now?”
“Get lost.”
Bill sped off, eager to collect his pay from Ms. Sawyer and leave Bayridge City behind.
Now it was just Waldo and Gwendolyn in the cavernous shack.
Waldo kicked Gwendolyn, who was slumped on the ground. “You always had a comeback, didn’t you? Why so silent now?” His face twisted with malice. “You ruin my Lifespan Locust Pharmacy and drag me down to this? Even if I go down, I’m taking you with me.” All content © N/.ôvel/Dr/ama.Org.
Gwendolyn winced in pain, “Your pharmacy peddled fake medicines. It was bound to fall.
apart.”
“You think Lifespan Locust Pharmacy was a solo gig?” Waldo bent down, aggressively. grabbing her chin, “I had the deputy chairman of the Health Association backing me. You’ve cut off his revenue stream. Don’t expect to get anywhere in the medical field ever
again.”
Forced to meet his gaze, Gwendolyn asked, “So, are you going to kill me?”
“We’ll see if you’re that lucky.”
Madness danced in Waldo’s eyes as he tore his filthy clothes, resembling more a lunatic

than a pharmacist. He picked up a discarded steel pipe, eyeing Gwendolyn, “I heard you’re quite the prodigy, maybe even Enoch’s apprentice, are you?”
What an absurdity!
“Where did you hear such nonsense?”
What did she have to do with the legendary doctor Enoch?
Her fingers fumbled inside her sleeve. All her needles were gone. Waldo had anticipated her resistance and had taken them.
“Still playing tough? If you come clean, I might make it easier on you.”
“I don’t know Enoch!”
“Then you’re of no use to me. Practicing without a license, you shouldn’t be in this business anyway. What good are these hands!”
With a cruel swing, Waldo brought the steel pipe down.
Her delicate fingers shattered, eliciting a piercing scream.
“Ah!”
Her right hand trembled, the skin turning a sickening shade with swelling blood.
The excruciating pain nearly knocked her unconscious.
Practicing without a license? She was framed!
But she was beyond defense.
Even the cleanest of reputations could be tarnished by the pointing of finger, their lies staining her name with accusations of unlicensed practice and negligence.
It seemed the more they slandered her, the more innocent they felt.
Those who defamed her walked free.
Her hospital post was suspended and she endured endless slander.
With a trembling voice and eyes bloodshot with rage, Gwendolyn spat, “Waldo, your end won’t be any better than mine,”
“Don’t rush,” Waldo whispered with a sadistic undertone. “I’ll make sure to treat all ten of your fingers equally.”
After all, he had nothing left to lose.
Bang!
The steel pipe swung down again, Gwendolyn dodging desperately. When she evaded, Waldo resorted to punching and kicking out his frustrations. Curled in a ball, she found

her clothes stained with dust and blood, tears welled in her eyes. The indignation and fury within her clenched her teeth tight.
