Chapter 808
With the same doubt, Frederick's gaze fell on Nicholas's face. "Did he realize something? Why did he ask such a strange question?" He thought to himself.
Realizing that his words might cause a misunderstanding, Nicholas smiled and caressed Alicia's hair. "No! I'm just asking because I care about you!" In fact, he also felt that her emotions were slightly unusual. Frederick was definitely sugarcoating it when he said it was hard communicating with her when her reaction was actually unreasonable. Moreover, it was obvious that she was aware about it and that this was within her control!
This was not like her at all! He would believe if one said that she was arrogant, headstrong, and would occasionally throw a princess' tantrum. However, if one said she was a terrible listener and behaved unreasonably, he would find this difficult to believe nor accept.
From what Nicholas knew, she always knew her limits. Moreover, this was a rather trivial matter. She had already said that it was "nothing" herself. How could she hold on to it for so long, and even be so weak that she cried about it to him? This was not the tough and independent Alicia he knew!
If she was not strong enough, how could she grit her teeth and endure what she went through for the past few years?Content © NôvelDrama.Org.
However, her current reaction was indeed incomprehensible!
"Oh, I thought something was wrong. Why did you suddenly say something so strange? Have some melon seeds, Nicholas. They are delicious!" Alicia grabbed a handful and put it into Nicholas's hand.
Nicholas followed her orders and ate a few. He narrowed his eyes in bewilderment and asked, "Original flavor?"
Didn't she dislike original flavors the most? She would happily enjoy all kinds of flavors but would always detest original flavored food. He remembered that he and their parents would snack on original flavored food during New Year at home as they all favored it more so than other flavors.
She was the only person who didn't share the same preference. Thus, they always had to specially prepare a packet of melon seeds of a different flavor for her and she would usually eat that alone. Although she didn't eat much, she would never eat the original flavor. That was why their father would often joke about whether she belonged to the Blanchard family biologically, and how they gave birth to such a special little princess.
She was very proud about it every time and she would always say that it was because she was a princess, so she was different. In her beautiful pink princess dress, she would raise her chin and said that with a serious face, which often made the whole family laugh.
What was wrong with her that day? She actually ate the original- flavored melon seeds that she would never touch? She even said that it was tasty? In an instant, Nicholas began to doubt if the girl before his eyes was his precious little sister.
Nicholas was even more confused when he saw that she had already taken out a pile of melon seed shells after a short while. "Ally, don't you think this is tasteless?"
In the past, she always said that the original flavor did not smell nice, and was dry and tasteless. Hence, she didn't like it very much! Alicia giggled and continued eating.
She shook her head hard and said, "Nicholas, now you won't think that I was adopted by the Blanchard family, right? I'm just a late bloomer is all! I suddenly found the original flavor to be delicious too! Hurry, make yourself useful and start peeling the seeds for me!"
Hearing their conversation, Frederick grabbed a handful and began to silently peel the seeds for her.
At that moment, he was sure that his younger sister was still the same person, but suspicion still flashed across Nicholas' mind. As a result, the two men peeled the melon seeds for Alicia as the three of them chatted for a while.
When it was nearing ten, Alicia started to yawn but Frederick did not dare to say anything. It was Nicholas who rushed her to bed. "Go rest! I still have something to talk to Frederick about. It's not convenient for you to be here!"
"Nicholas, are you going to badmouth me or-" Beat him up?
Narrowing her eyes, Alicia felt that her eyelids were getting heavier. Recently, she grew tired easily.
Alicia didn't put much thought into it. She thought that she had been exhausted recently because of work and Frederick, which caused Frederick to become an eyesore to her.
However, in her subconsciousness,
she felt that it could be because

Therefore, the once oh-so-great guy and was
starting to feel like a bother to her! Instinctively, she wanted to control how she felt about this, but her actions were contradictory to what she wanted to do.
As though seen right through her, Nicholas hurriedly said, "Don't worry, I won't put you in a difficult position! We're going to talk about business! You won't understand-"
"Oh, then goodnight!"
Alicia got up and shot Frederick a warning look before slowly walking to the stairs and signaling the servants to keep up. Frederick then got up to get Nicholas another glass of water.
Seeing Alicia's figure disappear in the corridor, Nicholas said in a low voice, "I'm fine. Her emotions... seem to have gone a little haywire. I'm sorry about that. Women can be rather emotional. Please bear with her!"
"It's fine, but what do you mean by what you said earlier?"
Looking at him worriedly, Frederick's entire nerves were tense. "Did he sense something unusual?" He thought to himself.
Right after, Nicholas shared what he found odd about her with him.
"I think we have the same inkling. She capricious and obviously nitpicky, but feel that she has
noticed it and tried controlling it! Her emotions are fragile and repetitive. Have you pampered her too much that she's spoiled, so when something goes wrong, she isn't used to it?"
With a wave of Frederick's hand, he then shrugged.
"I don't know either! When she behaves like this, I get so scared. I'm afraid of losing her again! If she's just throwing a tantrum at me, then I don't mind waiting, regardless of how long I have to wait for!"
The most he could do was to keep comforting her and waiting for her! The problem was that he was afraid that she would cry. As soon as he approached her, she would get annoyed, and if he got any closer, the waterworks would start. His heart broke every time she cried!
"I'm really at my wit's end; that's why I asked you to come all the way here!"
"She's lucky to have someone like you who is patient and puts up with her! She's being incredibly emotional and a little abnormal. The melon seeds that she disliked in the past weren't enough for her even when both of us were peeling them! Could it be that time of the month for her, or maybe she's been under too much pressure? Why is she acting like a ticking time bomb?"
There was no other explanation for what was going on with her!
They exchanged glances, and Frederick silently counted the days, nodding. "She's been like this for the last couple of days!"
Her time of the month was approaching.
Could it be because of that?
