Chapter 54 A Sudden Crisis
Chapter 54 A Sudden Crisis
Harriet's heart jumped faster, and she swallowed subconsciously. She was a little bit frightened,
thinking if he would do what she said.
She was so furious that she lost her mind. Didn't she just dig a hole for herself?
Harriet wanted to rip her mouth, "You have no right to restrict my personal freedom."
"Are you capable of bargaining with me?" The man asked with a chuckle.
The words suddenly stuck in her throat. After a while, Harriet bit her gums and scolded him angrily,
"You are...a yellow dog."
"I've never been kind." He said lightly.
Harriet was speechless and didn't want to say a word to him. She hung up the phone directly.
Damned it! If it were not for her brother, she would have gone away in the beginning. Who would care
about him!
He was the evil capitalist and the cancer of the society. How didn't God thunder him to death and
rescue her from the sufferings.
She threw away her phone and jumped into the bed, thumping her pillow a few times as a vent.
While Wesley, who was hung up by her, was not angry at all but he raised the corner of his lips slightly.
Rubbing his fingertips on the screen of his phone, he seemed to think of something interesting, and the
smile got bigger.
Jack pretended not to see it but lowered his head and relieved.
He thought they would have a quarrel.
"Notify the marketing department for a meeting." After put away his smile, Wesley got up and walked to
the meeting room.
The senior executives clearly felt that the boss who was usually serious seemed to be easy-going at
the meeting.
Although Harriet was particularly dissatisfied with her schedules, she still went to work the next day.
The contracts had been signed. She had to compensate the liquidated damages if she refused to do by
following the contracts. She didn't want to lose the gains.
During the break, Harriet checked her Facebook which had not logged in for a few days.
Harriet was too lazy to updates her Facebook in the past but since Molly became her agent, she asked
her to post an update in two or three days to keep the interaction with her fans.
What was this arrangement?
Harriet stared, and found that her Facebook fans had suddenly risen by more than two million.
"Molly, my fans have increased a lot."
Molly checked it and said happily, "Maybe you really are going to take off."
Harriet rolled her eyes and pointed to a comment saying, "Are you sure?"
YY her: Get out of the entertainment circle, sucker, it is people like you who messes up the circle.
Molly immediately plumped up her cheeks, "She is jealous of you!"
Harriet did not retort it but just closed the Facebook.
The system prompted that someone had followed her in a second.
She casually clicked on and looked at the Facebook name, which was actually called Wesley Smith!
Would it really be that man? Harriet has the illusion of being monitored in all directions.
She held her chin, studying the account carefully as if she found out a big secret.
It was a pity that this account had only followed three people in total. The profile was quite simple and
there was no authentication.
In the end, Harriet concluded that it was not the account of Wesley.
Harriet continued her work and left the account behind. Jack called her again when she almost finished
her job.
"Miss Clark, I'll wait for you outside,"
Harriet frowned why he didn't say it early if he would pick her up.
"Wesley wants to see me?" She asked while she knew the answer.
"Well, boss told me to take you back to Opera Villa."
Who cared to go there? Harriet could not say like that anyway, "Wait a minute."
Harriet took a hard time to figure out an excuse to make her leave her alone.
Harriet saw Jack's car at a glance when she came out.
She didn't say a word to Jack on the way but just post an update on Facebook by following Molly's
requirement.
"Jingle!"
A familiar sound came to her ear, Harriet thought it was from her phone, but it was not after a glance.
She happened to see that Jack's phone screen was on and a message was being pushed on it when
she raised her head. She took a closer look. Wasn't it the update she just posted?
Harriet showed a weird expression. Jack had a Facebook account and followed her.
So the account she discovered before was the one of Wesley?
Harriet could not help asking him, "Do you often use Facebook?"
Jack shook his head, "I just browse it occasionally." He thought to himself that he just checked Harriet's
updates mainly.
Harriet wanted to ask whether Wesley also browsed the Facebook, but she had not enough courage to
do that.
It was none of her business about whether he browsed Facebook or not. But Harriet paid attention to
the account of Wesley before.
She opened Facebook again, clicked into that account, and was surprised to find that the account was
not a dead one and actually thumbed up her latest update.
Huh, he was a counterfeit, Harriet decisively canceled to follow him.
Soon, they arrived at the villa and Wesley also came back coincidentally. Harriet met him at the door.
Jack left and Harriet followed Wesley and entered the villa.
Wesley poured himself a glass of water. Harriet went upstairs and was ready to take a bath.
She swept her sight unintentionally at the floor-to-ceiling windows at the half way and found that there
was a dark shadow there suddenly.
She was so frightened that she held her breath. She pinched her palms tightly, looked away, and went
downstairs calmly.
She always had good eyesight and was sure that there was a man hiding.
She blinked at Wesley while trying to stay calm. She coquettishly said, "Wesley, I would like a glass of
hot milk."
As she spoke, she secretly observed the man behind the floor-to-ceiling windows.
Wesley seemed to be willing to do that and took milk from the refrigerator to the kitchen.
At this moment, the shadow suddenly moved, and a black object was exposed and aimed at Wesley.
Harriet soon panicked, "Wesley!"
She exclaimed and rushed to Wesley.
"Bang!" There was a gunshot and she felt the great pain.
She stiffened and fell to the ground directly.
"Harriet!" Wesley threw the milk and immediately hugged her. They hid in the kitchen and Wesley took
out his phone and called the police.
Then he opened a cabinet in the kitchen where there was a small dark compartment. He took out a
pistol in it.
"Wait for me." He lowered his body and approached the door.
Harriet struggled to pull his sleeve, "It is dan...dangerous..."
She didn't want him to go.
Footsteps sounded in the living room, coming towards the kitchen.
"Stop talking and hold on." His voice was particularly soft at this moment.
The tearing pain made Harriet weaker and weaker. She couldn't stop Wesley but only watch him go
forwards. Her vision was increasingly blurred, and then she completely lost her consciousness.
Wesley knew that he had to solve the man outside quickly, and sent Harriet to the hospital. Although
the shot just didn't hit her points, she would still be in danger if she lost too much blood.
The footsteps were getting closer and closer, and Wesley had reached the door.
The footsteps outside stopped suddenly. His eyebrows flickered, and he jerked her body to the side.
A bullet passed through the door and hit the opposite wall directly.
Then one after another.
Suddenly, the shooting stopped.
Wesley realized what would happen and quickly backed away. Only to hear the sound of "boom", the
door was blown open.
Wesley rolled around on the ground and turned quickly, shooting at the door.
But there was nobody.
He didn't dare to blink. He backed away, guarding in front of Harriet.
"Bang!" A hand extended from the side and shot at him.

He quickly grasped Harriet's waist and hid aside at that urgent moment.
The sound of wind appeared in his ear, and the bullet ran across his ear and hit the kitchen counter.
At this moment, the man outside had flashed in before Wesley reacted.
A round object rolled on the ground, emitting thick white smoke.
Wesley took a deep breath out of intention and felt dizzy.
In order to stay awake, he took the gun and aimed at himself.
