Chapter 97 Mine
Chapter 97 Mine
"Mr. Smith," Keith suddenly cut into the conversation, he stood silently behind Harriet, his expression
complicated and his eyes filled with confusion and dissatisfaction.
Harriet felt convoluted seeing him here.
Wesley glanced at him half-heartedly and plainly hummed, he didn't seem like he wanted to talk.
"Harriet, I have something to discuss with Mr. Smith, " said Keith abruptly.
Harriet was uneasy, "What do you guys have to talk about?"
Keith answered stubbornly, "This is something personal between me and Mr. Smith, you don't have to
know about it."
Good lord, once Keith was set on something he would never back down.
Harriet peeked at Wesley, and it didn't look like Wesley was going to reject his request, she decided to
give them some space.
After the woman left, all perplexed, Keith took one step forward aggressively, he looked into Wesley's
eyes and stated straightforwardly," Mr. Smith, can you let Harriet go?"
In Wesley's eyes, the young man before him was not worthy to have a serious conversation with.
"Let go of her? Did she say that?"
"No, she didn't. But you are engaged, you can't commit to her and can't even give her a future, so
please, let her go."
Keith knew the right thing to say, he had never talked to Wesley before, but he had heard about him
from the members of his family and hence Keith figured out Wesley's temperament and the way to deal
with him. Keith was naive but he knew the limits.
Wesley laughed light-heartedly, "You don't get to tell me what to do, she is mine."
Keith could tell that Wesley was looking down on him, he retorted indignantly, "Mr. Smith, Harriet is not
an item, please respect her as a human."
He paused briefly, and continued saying seriously, "But I'm different, I'm serious about Harriet and I
respect her. I can give her assurance and fulfil my promises, I will never let her down."
Wesley was going to sneer at him, but it wasn't like him to dispute with a naive boy like Keith. Wesley
answered plainly, "Who said that I'm not serious about her as well?"
Keith was stunned.
"Keith, I'm not going to make a fuss about what happened today, just to give face to your grandfather.
But there won't be no next time." Wesley gave him a warning, his handsome expression menacing,
"Remember well, she's mine and don't touch it."
As Wesley finished his sentence, he walked past Keith coldly and didn't even bat an eye, making a
beeline to Harriet.
Keith gritted his teeth, his eyes filled with fury.
Nobody could take away what he set eyes on!
The crew members constantly looked over ever since Wesley arrived, they were curious and wanted to
learn the juicy gossip. Harriet was helpless, she wanted to quickly chase Wesley out but he didn't seem
to have any intention to leave, as if he had nothing else to do today.
The next scene was Harriet's and Keith's fighting scene.
As it was a suspense thriller film, there were many action shots to take. The protective measures were
carried out accordingly but Keith accidentally elbowed Harriet during the shot, she hit her head on the
pillar nearby and had a bump on her forehead.
"I'm so sorry, Harriet!"
"Cut!" Yelled the director. Keith apologized repeatedly and wanted to take a good look at her wound.
But Wesley was one step ahead and was already holding Harriet's face softly and gently checking her
wound, he grimaced upon seeing it.
Harriet was afraid that the unhappy Wesley would request to cancel this action shot just because she
got hurt, but this part played an important role for the plot and hence she immediately said, "I'm fine,
this bump will go away soon enough."
"You will stop shooting today if you get hurt one more time," ordered Wesley, everybody in the crew
including the director got shivers down their spine hearing it.
Harriet answered him flightily, "I will be more careful. You should be busy, you can take your leave, you
don't have to stay here."
Wesley turned a deaf ear, he took the wet towel that Molly handed him and pressed it gently on
Harriet's forehead. Harriet was flattered, but she was also frightened.
Did he intend to escalate the scandals surrounding her by treating her like this in front of the crew
members?
Finally, the director announced that they were done for the day, most likely because he couldn't stand
the imposing and intense aura being let out by the superior of his.
Harriet couldn't help but question Wesley in the car, "Wesley, what are you here for today?"
"I already told you why," Wesley's answer made her heart skip a beat, but she quickly regained her
composure.
"Don't worry, I have some self-awareness, I won't do anything behind your back, I remember your
warnings very well," Harriet acted like she was calm but her heart was storming, "So, there is no need
for you to come over for a spot check, Mr. Smith, your time is precious and you shouldn't waste it on
me."
Wesley stared at her faintly, "It depends on the person if it's worth it or not."
There was no denying that the man was a smooth talker, he would always say stuff that made her heart
beat faster, but she couldn't tell if he meant what he said.
While she was "flirting" with Wesley, something bad was happening to her brother.
There was a loud and crisp sound of a slap on the cheek coming from a bungalow located in a quiet NôvelDrama.Org is the owner.
suburb.
Colin had a bright red handprint on his face, he gasped at the nice middle-aged woman that he met for
the first time shockingly.
"You shameless scoundrel, you're just like your sister!" Sandra was furious, she was going to hit him
again but Colin managed to avoid it.
"Who do you think you are, speaking badly of my sister?" Colin couldn't contain his anger as he heard
that the person was bad-mouthing his sister, he was usually a person with a good temper.
Sandra snickered, "Just because you and your sister are tarred with the same brush! One seduces an
engaged man, the other deceived my naive and innocent daughter, selfish and calculating people!"
Colin was puzzled, "What are you saying?"
Sandra glared at him disdainfully, "Let me ask you this, do you know that my daughter is engaged?"
Colin was stunned, his face flushed with embarrassment, "I know… But wasn't it called off? Also, my
Louisa wasn't willing to marry that guy."
"Shut your trap, my daughter is not your Louisa!"
To think that her daughter fell head over heels for him, she didn't care if what she said was going to
anger Wesley, she got even more furious and said stuff in a spur of the moment.
"Who do you think you are? You're like your sister, you guys are just tools of service for the Jones
family. What's wrong, was donating a kidney not enough? Do you guys want to give us something
else? Well, it doesn't matter what you offer, it's up to the Jones family to decide if we take it or not."
Colin was startled, "What did you say? My sister's kidney was given to you guys?"
Sandra got even madder seeing his face turned pale, she said even harsher things.
"You didn't know? Oh, your cheap sister didn't tell you anything about it. Well, our Louisa is only as fit
as a fiddle thanks to Harriet's kidney. We were thankful, but she didn't know better, it's not our fault that
we bear grudges towards her because of her actions."
Colin turned as pale as a sheet, he couldn't believe his ears.
His sister donated her kidney to his beloved girlfriend? How could it be?
"Also, you and Louisa can never be together, "Sandra smiled cruelly, "Do you know who your father is?
The man that threw your family away."
