Departure with a Belly (Alaric and Victoria)

Chapter 468

Chapter 468

On the other hand, Jessie had put in a lot of effort to bring back the food that Victoria

wanted to eat. When she returned, she was beaming with glee as if she had acquired

some incredible treasure. “You’ve been waiting a long time, Miss Selwyn, haven’t you?

You have no idea how long the line was over there. I must say, you have impeccable

taste. I think this must be delicious.” After saying this, she eagerly handed the food to

her.

Unfortunately, Victoria didn’t pay attention to her as she lowered her gaze, seemingly

lost in thought.

However, Jessie was perplexed by her behavior and repeatedly called out to her.

Victoria eventually snapped out of her reverie when she heard Jessie’s voice, and when

she regained her focus, she saw her standing there with the food in her hands.

“Miss Selwyn, I’ve bought the things you wanted.”

Then, Victoria caught a whiff of an appetizing aroma. As it turned out, she didn’t have

an appetite and had only asked Jessie to run errands because she needed her to be

gone for a while. In addition, following her conversation with Ethan, her mind was filled

with countless thoughts. Seeing that Jessie was looking at her with a hopeful

expression, Victoria reluctantly accepted the food and said, “Thank you.” Since the

street vendor had packaged the food in paper bags, she tore open one and took a bite.

“How does it taste, Miss Selwyn?”

In the meantime, Victoria was still lost in her thoughts and didn’t know what she had

just eaten. After hearing Jessie’s question, she nodded and remarked, “It’s good.”

Jessie was pleased to hear that the food was good, but Victoria gave up after only a

few bites. Seeing that, she hesitated and asked, “Miss Selwyn, aren’t you going to finish

it?”

Nevertheless, Victoria didn’t respond; she seemed to have drifted off into her own

thoughts.

At that moment, she recalled her earlier conversation with Ethan, in which she gained a

general understanding of the situation. The moment he mentioned the name, a flood of

emotions erupted from her heart, relieving the pressure that had been weighing her

down. She had a nagging feeling that there was something she was supposed to do

but didn’t know what it was until he told her. However, she was aware that Bane would

not reveal this information to her and that she would only be able to obtain these

pertinent details from Ethan. So, Bane wishes me to remain at his side, but I’ve come

voluntarily this time because I wanted to save Alaric. This is the only plausible

explanation for why I’m here. I’m here to save Alaric! I finally understand the sequence

of events and know what I must do now, but Ethan is the one who told me this.

When Ethan noticed Victoria’s conflicted expression, he said, “Miss Selwyn, do

whatever you want. There’s no need to consider me.” I don’t want her to be concerned

about how her actions will affect me. Since she has now lost all of her memories,

forgotten everything, and is returning with a firm understanding of what transpired,

obviously, that man will know that I told her this as I accompanied her today, I foresaw

that she would hesitate due to this issue, so I should inform her beforehand.

However, she was even more hesitant after hearing his words. Without a doubt, he put

himself in harm’s way to help me, and if I push forward without taking his safety into

account… “Don’t worry. Even if I decide to do it, I’ll find a better way.”

After hearing this, his expression showed a hint of confusion. “How do you plan to do it,

Miss Selwyn?”

Meanwhile, Victoria had only stayed at the mall for a few moments before returning,

and she had only eaten a few bites of the food Jessie had bought. At this moment, she

had planned to throw out the uneaten portion of food, but Jessie felt it was a waste

and ate it anyway. When Victoria saw her eating the leftovers, she blushed slightly out

of embarrassment. Content © provided by NôvelDrama.Org.

However, Jessie reassured her, “It’s okay, Miss Selwyn. You don’t need to feel

embarrassed. I see you as close as my sister, so I don’t mind.”

“As long as you don’t mind.” Victoria found this young woman’s temperament and

personality to be quite rare.

On the other hand, Ethan focused on the back of Victoria’s head while listening to their

conversation in the car. His mind was filled with the question Victoria had asked him

before Jessie’s return from her errands.

“I have one question for you. You said I came here voluntarily. Is that true?”

Earlier, when she asked that question, he assumed she was testing or did not trust him,

so he responded based on the facts. Later, he reasoned that even if she didn’t believe

him, there was nothing he could do. However, once they were in the car, his mind finally

clicked. So, her earlier inquiry didn’t indicate that she didn’t trust me; rather, she asked

that question because she did trust me. In particular, my response is essential because

it will dictate her next move. As for that thing….

At this realization, Ethan’s expression and eyes became solemn as he stared blankly at

the back of Victoria’s head. If this relates to the question she asked, I’m sure I know

what she’ll do. I should have advised her, but I could not utter a single word whenever

the words reached my lips. What should I tell her? It’s useless; I can’t even ensure my

own safety.

As the vehicle approached the villa, everyone got out of the car, and he couldn’t help

but remind her, “Miss Selwyn, although it’s not my place to speak, please think carefully

before doing anything.”

After hearing this, she paused in her actions, quickly realizing the meaning behind his

words. She glanced at him and noticed the deepening guilt in his eyes. Then, she

pursed her lips, realizing that he already knew what she would do. Nonetheless, she

was not the type to have her mind changed about a course of action she had already

decided on. Hence, she cast a glance at him before averting her gaze.

After entering the house, Victoria immediately told Jessie, “You’ve been here for a

while. Where would Bane usually be at this time?”

Jessie thought momentarily before saying, “Mr. Morison rarely returned to stay here. He

only recently-” While saying this, her face changed, and she realized she had

misspoken, so she quickly corrected herself, “Anyway, at this time, Mr. Morison should

not be at home.”

Victoria had already learned about the general relationship between her and Bane from

Ethan, so even though Jessie misspoke, she didn’t pursue the matter. Instead, she said,

“Then, I’ll go upstairs to rest. When he returns, tell him to come find me.” Following this,

she turned around and headed upstairs.

In the meantime, Jessie remained immobile until the butler approached and inquired, at

which point she explained what had just transpired. After that, the butler promptly

made a phone call to Bane.

After hearing this, Bane immediately left everything he was doing and hurried back

home.

“She’s looking for me? Where is she now?”

On the other hand, Jessie hadn’t expected him to return so soon, and for a moment,

she was stunned. “Yes, Mr. Morison, Miss Selwyn went upstairs to sleep. She asked

you to look for her when you come back.”
