Falling for my Ex-Fiancee’s Best friend

So, this is it, then?

Nathan arrived at the hospital later in the evening, his heart heavy with guilt. As he made his way to the recovery room, he found Silver sitting up in bed, her eyes wide open. Relief washed over him as he realized she had finally woken up.

“Silver, I’m so sorry about the accident,” Nathan said, his voice filled with remorse.

Silver’s face contorted with anger as she began to nag, her words laced with frustration. “It is your fault, Nathan! If you hadn’t Ignored me, that car wouldn’t have hit me! You need to find the driver and make sure they are put behind bars!”

Just as Silver’s complaints reached their peak, the doctor walked into the room, bringing a much needed interruption. Nathan silently thanked the heavens, grateful that her incessant whining would be cut short.

The doctor, a middle-aged man with a kind smile, approached Silver’s bed. “Ah, I see you’re awake, Ms. Silver. How are you feeling?”

Silver’s voice softened slightly as she replied, “I’m in pain, Doctor. This accident has been a nightmare.”

The doctor nodded sympathetically. “I understand, but I have good news. The impact of the accident wasn’t as serious as we initially feared. You’ll need some rest, but you should be able to recover fully.”

Relief washed over Nathan as he heard the doctor’s words. He moved closer to Silver’s bed, his eyes filled with concern. “I’ll stay by your side, Silver. We’ll get through this together.”NôvelDrama.Org holds text © rights.

The doctor turned to Nathan, addressing him as if he were Silver’s husband. “You must take care of her, Mr. Nathan. And congratulations, the baby is fine.”

Nathan’s face contorted with a mix of surprise and denial. “I’m not her husband, Doctor. I’m just an unfortunate victim who got her pregnant.”

Silver’s eyes widened in shock, her mouth agape. The doctor, taken aback by Nathan’s response, cleared his throat awkwardly. “Well, regardless of your relationship, it’s important that you support her during this time.”

Before the conversation could delve any further, the doctor changed the subject. “Silver, you’ll be discharged today. Just make sure to take it easy and follow the prescribed medication and come for a check up in two days.”

As the doctor left the room, Nathan couldn’t help but feel a sense of relief mixed with apprehension.

The road to recovery for Silver would undoubtedly be challenging, but he was determined to be there for her, even if their relationship was complicated.

Nathan carefully helped Silver out of the hospital, his arm securely wrapped around her waist for support.

He knew all too well that taking her home to Demelza was not an option. Those two had a history of being at each other’s throats both figuratively and literally, and he didn’t want to subject either of them to that kind of tension.

As they made their way towards the car, Silver’s voice filled the air with an air of drama that got on Nathan’s nerves.

Her constant whining about how the accident was his fault was starting to wear him down, but he had to keep up with it. After all, she was pregnant, and he couldn’t afford to lose his temper.

“Can you believe this, Nathan?” Silver’s voice pierced through his thoughts. “I can’t believe you let this happen to me. It’s all your fault!”

Nathan clenched his jaw, his patience wearing thin. “Silver, please, not now. We need to focus on getting you home safely.”

But Silver continued, her voice growing louder and more shrill. “You were supposed to protect me! How could you let this happen? I trusted you!”

The words echoed in Nathan’s head, intensifying his frustration. He couldn’t take it anymore. “Shut the fuck up, Silver!” he snapped, his voice filled with anger.

Silver fell silent, her eyes widening in surprise. The weight of his outburst hung heavy in the air as Nathan took a deep breath, trying to regain his composure. He knew he had crossed a line, but the constant barrage of blame had pushed him to his breaking point.

Guilt washed over him as he realized the impact of his words. He reached out to touch Silver’s arm gently, his voice softer now. “I’m sorry, Silver. I didn’t mean to yell. Let’s just get you home, okay?”

Silver nodded, her eyes filled with a mix of hurt and understanding. As Nathan opened the car door for her, he couldn’t help but feel a pang of regret. He knew he had to find a way to manage his own frustrations better, especially with the added stress of the pregnancy.

Nathan gripped the steering wheel tightly, his knuckles turning white as he navigated through the city streets.

The tension in the car was palpable, the silence suffocating. Silver glanced at him, her brows furrowed with concern.

She wanted to ask where they were going, but the memory of his harsh words echoed in her mind, causing her to bite her lip and remain silent.

As they turned onto a different road, away from the familiar route to His house, Silver’s curiosity grew stronger.

She couldn’t help but wonder what had prompted this sudden change in direction.

However, she knew better than to question Nathan when he was in this mood. The last time she had spoken up, he had yelled at her to shut up, his anger leaving her shaken and afraid.

Minutes later, Nathan pulled up in front of a sleek, modern building. He turned off the engine and turned to Silver, his expression unreadable. “Get down,” he commanded, his voice low and commanding. Silver’s heart raced as she obeyed, sinking lower in her seat. She watched as Nathan got out of the car and walked towards the entrance of the building, leaving her alone and clueless.

Silver took a deep breath, trying to steady her nerves. She opened the car door cautiously and stepped out onto the pavement. The doorman, a tall man in a crisp uniform, greeted Nathan with a respectful nod. Silver followed behind, her steps hesitant and uncertain. The doorman’s eyes flickered towards her briefly, curiosity evident in his gaze, but he said nothing.

Nathan led the way into the building, his walk purposeful and determined. Silver hurried to keep up, her mind racing with questions. What was going on? Why had Nathan brought her here? The elevator doors opened just as they reached it, and Nathan stepped inside without a word. Silver hesitated for a moment before stepping in beside him, the doors closing behind her.

The elevator ascended smoothly, the silence between them growing heavier with each passing second. Silver stole a glance at Nathan, his jaw clenched and his eyes fixed straight ahead. She longed to break the silence, to ask him what was happening, but fear held her tongue captive. She had learned the hard way that speaking up only made things worse.

As the elevator doors opened on an unknown floor, Silver’s heart pounded in her chest. She followed Nathan out, her eyes darting around the unfamiliar surroundings. The air was thick with anticipation, and Silver couldn’t help but wonder what awaited them beyond the closed doors. But for now, all she could do was follow Nathan’s lead, her mind filled with questions and her voice silenced by fear.

Nathan and Silver footsteps echoing in the opulent hallway as they made their way towards into a luxurious apartment. Nathan held a key in his hand, his expression serious as he handed it to Silver.

“This is where you’ll be staying,” he said, his voice calm but firm.

Silver’s eyes widened with disappointment and frustration. “Are you serious? This is where you’re putting me? I thought you cared about me!”

Nathan sighed, his jaw tightening. “I do care about you, Silver. But I can’t have you in the same house as my girlfriend. You know that.”

Silver’s face flushed with anger. “So, I’m just supposed to hide away in this fancy apartment while you live your perfect life with her? Is that it?”

Nathan’s voice grew sharper. “This isn’t about my perfect life, Silver. It’s about the child you’re carrying. That’s my only concern right now.”

Silver’s eyes welled up with tears, her voice trembling. “I can’t believe you’re treating me like this. I thought we had something special.”

Nathan’s frustration boiled over, his voice rising. “We never had anything special, Silver! But you knew from the beginning.. I can’t just abandon her because of our mistake.”

Silver’s voice cracked with hurt. “Mistake? Is that what you think this is? Our child is not a mistake, Nathan!”

Nathan’s face contorted with anger. “I never said our child was a mistake. But the circumstances surrounding it are complicated, and I’m trying to do what’s best for everyone involved.”

Silver’s tears streamed down her face as she shouted, “What about what’s best for me? What about what’s best for our child?”

Nathan’s voice softened slightly, his eyes filled with regret. “I want what’s best for both of you, Silver. That’s why I’m providing for you, giving you a place to stay. But I can’t give you everything.”

Silver’s voice quivered with a mix of sadness and anger. “I don’t want everything, Nathan. I just want you to be there for me, to support me through this.”

Nathan’s face hardened once again, his tone icy. “I am supporting you, Silver. But I can’t give you the love and attention you want. Not now, not ever, not while I’m still with her.”

Silver’s heart shattered as she whispered, “So, this is it then? You’re just going to leave me here?”

Nathan turned away, his voice filled with bitterness. “I need some time to think. I’ll be back later.”

With those words, Nathan stormed out of the apartment, leaving Silver alone with her tears and shattered dreams.
