Chapter 748 Another Child
“I can't interfere in this matter. Tobias is the CEO of Royal Entertainment. The artist's love contract never applied to Skylar. There's nothing more I can say. Saorise has already joined Royal Entertainment, and now you're my trump card. You'll be competing with Saorise for the top spot.”
In the past, Amelia would have been filled with joy and gratitude at being elevated to such a prestigious position by Kate. Content from NôvelDr(a)ma.Org.
However, now there was an indescribable feeling coursing through her. She longed to rid herself of this cursed predicament and escape the limbo. After all, she felt a profound sense of despair as she grappled with her bleak future.
The thought of Skylar's potential betrayal after knowing Amelia's secret left her feeling uncertain and apprehensive.
“There are ongoing speculations online implying that you are the undisclosed financial supporter behind Skylar. Moreover, since Ford Group recently went public, the stock price has been somewhat influenced by these rumors and speculations,” Claudia remarked, setting her pen aside. She had been keeping updated with the latest news, including the buzz surrounding her son's significant investment in Skylar.
However, the outcomes of the investment had fallen short of expectations.
“Let them speculate as they please. I've never been one to concern myself with such matters. I'm not married, so it's my right to choose who I want to be with,” Tobias replied.
Claudia sighed and said, “My friends kept asking me whether the rumors were true. They praised Skylar's beauty and called her a good girl, but I know their real thoughts. They're secretly gloating, wondering how my son ended up with a woman like her. They perceive her as a mere actress and believe she is not a suitable match for you.”
Tobias was well aware of Claudia's concern for her reputation and her aversion to gossip circulating behind her back.
Any sentence that didn't sit well with her would linger in her mind long after it was said.
In Tobias' perspective, Claudia appeared petty and was overly concerned about others' opinions of her. She was only tolerable of comments from her immediate family.
Observing the hastily scrawled words on the paper, he sensed the restlessness that betrayed her inner turmoil.
“Skylar is great. I'm fully aware of whom I'm involved with. You should not take your friends' words to heart,” he calmly asserted.
Claudia couldn't help but feel uneasy. After all, how did one distinguish between good and bad people? She firmly believed that Skylar and the Ford family belonged to two separate worlds; it was impossible for them to get along.
However, she didn't want to continue discussing the topic further. She finally understood that matters of the heart were beyond her control, and bringing it up repeatedly would only annoy Tobias.
Yet, she couldn't resist nagging at Tobias again. “Just look at you. Since Christmas, you've only been home once. It's a challenge to get you to spend more time with me. They say a daughter who gets married is long gone and forgotten, but what about a son? You aren't married yet, but it looks like Skylar has already taken your soul.”
Tobias rested his hand on Claudia's shoulder and said gently, “I've come to visit you, haven't I? Why are you always finding fault with me?
In response, Claudia reminded him, “Your cousin has already had a second child, and just look at how happy your aunt is. When will you ever bring that kind of joy to your mother? If it can't be Skylar, then find someone else. I don't care how you do it. Right now, all I want is to hold a chubby grandchild.”
Tobias had grown tired of this topic. He forced a smile and said, “It doesn't matter who it is. Having children is not part of my life plan, so please stop bringing it up.”
