Chapter 751 Sharing The Resources
Chapter 751 Sharing The Resources
It was evident that the unsuccessful film had far-reaching consequences. It did not just impact her reputation but also her prospects of securing future endorsement deals.
The deal with McDonald's had been safeguarded only because Kate had done her very best to talk to them.
When Skylar saw Marcus' incoming call, she decided to decline it.
However, she reluctantly answered when he called her repeatedly. “Mr. Ford, are you calling to hold me accountable? I'm busy at the moment.”
Marcus chuckled. “The director is now shifting the blame onto you, yet you seem to be handling it quite well.”
Skylar replied, “Opinions may differ. It's clear to anyone who isn't blind who should shoulder the blame.”
Despite sensing Skylar's low spirits, he remained unperturbed, having become accustomed to her emotional state. Upon hearing a voice calling for her in the background, he decided to be direct. “When do you finish work today? I have something important to discuss with you.” Text content © NôvelDrama.Org.
However, Skylar ended the call without replying.
As the clock needle neared ten, the director's voice resonated through the set, signaling the completion of the advertisement shoot. At long last, a wave of relief swept over Skylar's fatigued body. However, the aftermath of consuming more than a dozen hamburgers throughout the day left her so full she could puke.
When she was young, the opportunity to dine at McDonald's and Kentucky Fried Chicken was a rarity for her. Indulging in their offerings during festive celebrations or even on her birthdays was a
luxury she seldom experienced.
She vividly remembered the first time she had a spicy chicken burger when she was in junior high. Jeremy had bought it for her.
When she took her first bite, her taste buds danced with pleasure, and she couldn't help but relish the sheer deliciousness of the burger.
Jeremy urged her to relish the flavors and eat to her heart's content. His gaze remained fixated on her throughout the whole time.
It was only now that Skylar understood the disdain in Jeremy's gaze. What she had mistaken for affection was, in reality, nothing more than mocking her humble existence.
The staff members would often cast glances her way, making Skylar feel self-conscious. Determined to maintain her composure, she sat on a bench and took out a small mirror to touch up her makeup. Once she was done, she prepared to head home.
Laurel said, “Many people are gossiping about your connections to Ford Group. Some say that the netizens were wrong and that you have a sugar daddy among the executives of the company.”
In response, Skylar shrugged dismissively, unfazed by the rumors. She knew that gossips had a way of distorting the truth as they spread the word.
Laurel leaned in close to Skylar's ear and whispered, “There's a new brand ambassador for McDonald's, and she's endorsing the Wings Bucket. There are huge billboards of her everywhere. You're positioned to her right and are no longer the main attraction.”
Skylar scanned her surroundings, but she couldn't spot any new faces at the scene.
Hence, she asked, “Is the brand ambassador a man or a woman?”
Laurel uttered, “I'm not sure if I heard correctly, but I think it's Saorise.”
Skylar did not expect Saorise to be present for the shoot. The lingering tension between them seemed to persist no matter where they were.
“Ever since Saorise joined the company, she's been given so many opportunities. The resources you are given are nothing compared to her. If you continue like this, you'll be a forgotten artist. There's no way you are going to be famous,” Laurel added.
Skylar replied, “There's no need to look into the future. I guess I already am.” There are so many ambitious artists in the company now. It's a competitive environment, and resources are limited. I can't be given all the opportunities.
Meanwhile, Tobias arrived punctually at the entrance of Mcdonald's. He sat in his car, ready to light a cigarette while waiting for Skylar to walk out.
He tried calling her several times, but there was no answer. They had agreed to meet after she finished work at half past seven, but she was nowhere to be seen.
When Tobias heard someone knocking on the car window from behind, he assumed it was Skylar. However, his expression turned solemn when he saw it was Marcus. Nevertheless, he wasn't surprised by the latter's appearance.
