Her Precious Baby

Chapter 152

Chapter 152

She had ordered a simple dish, thinking that it would be hard for anything to go wrong. However, it seemed that she had overestimated Evander’s abilities.

“Is it good?” Evander asked in a deep voice.

Even though he sounded casual, he was staring intently at Angeline.

The woman smiled awkwardly, wondering if it was all right to tell him that it tasted awful.

Evander was never required to do any housework himself, yet he had personally cooked for her.

In fact, there was no need for him to do that.

The thought of that sent a warm feeling through Angeline’s heart. Trying her best to conceal her emotions, the woman gave a contented smile and replied, “The pasta is delicious. Thank you.”

“Eat more if you like it.”

Although it did not show on his face, inwardly, Evander was dancing with joy. He looked at Angeline expectantly as his lips curled into a faint smile.

Angeline chuckled dryly when she heard that. However, as she was famished, she was not picky with her food. She slurped down the entire plate of pasta.

The woman had lost count of the number of eggshells she had consumed.

After dinner, Angeline volunteered to wash the dishes. Once she was done with that, she glanced at the time and realized that it was already four in the morning.

Angeline had never pulled an all-nighter before, apart from those times when she needed to film through the night. All content © N/.ôvel/Dr/ama.Org.

She headed to the bathroom to wash up and changed into her pajamas. When she returned to her bedroom, she saw Evander lying on her bed.

The man maintained his usual elegance even in his sleep. Hearing his steady breathing, Angeline walked closer to him as she could not help but feel drawn toward him.

Under the illumination of a dim night light, she could see the man’s high nose bridge and perfectly sculpted side profile. It was easy for Angeline to remember Evander’s flawless face even with her eyes closed.

A man like him was undoubtedly hard for any woman to resist.

Angeline froze at that thought. When she regained her senses after a while, a hint of helplessness appeared in her eyes as she stared at Evander.

Because of her grandfather, Angeline might be considered compatible with Evander in terms of their backgrounds. However, she was not receptive to the idea of starting a new relationship because of her personal experiences and the unknown fate of her child.

Given her current situation, love was the last thing on her mind.

Angeline turned her back toward the man and left the bedroom. As she lay on her bed upon entering the guest room, her growing feelings for the man suddenly dissipated.

The woman slept soundly throughout the night, and when she woke up, it was already three in the afternoon.

Evander was already nowhere to be seen.

Angeline felt her head throbbing and massaged her temples. After her headache subsided, she got out of her bed and headed to the living room.

She was currently filled with regrets about throwing a tantrum at Evander and leaving home the night before. If she had not done that, she would not have woken up that late.

After pouring herself a glass of warm water, she spotted a note on the table with some words written on it: I’ve left your breakfast in the thermal container. Remember to eat it when you wake up. Don’t eat any junk food.

Upon reading the note, Angeline was reminded of the eggshell pasta prepared by Evander the previous night, and the corners of her lips curled into a smile.

She was amazed that the man, who was a respectable CEO, had prepared breakfast for her. She could not help but feel lucky.

Angeline finished her brunch, then headed upstairs to change. Going for a more professional look, she wore a three-quarter-sleeve white blazer. After grabbing some documents, she drove toward Forrester Group.

The company was bustling with activity, unlike the chilled atmosphere the day before. The employees sent by Hanson had also started arriving, and among them was Lillian.

She was in the midst of briefing some employees when she spotted Angeline.

Smiling warmly, Lillian greeted, “Good afternoon, Ms. Sorelle. It must be really tiring for you to take time out of your busy schedule to come to the office.”

With a crease between her brows, Angeline looked at the woman and asked in confusion, “Why are you here?”

“Mr. Yiurk sent me here to assist you for the next few days. He was worried that you might not be familiar with Forrester Group’s business operations. Don’t worry. I will only be taking instructions from

you and won’t be involved in any decision-making.”

Would Hanson be so kind?

Angeline felt that Lillian was acting somewhat strangely, but it was true that she needed someone who could help her familiarize herself with the company’s business operations.

“Follow me,” Angeline asked Lillian to follow her into her office and sat down after shutting the door.

“Ms. Sorelle, is there anything I can do for you?”

Angeline decided not to beat about the bush. She took out the outstanding bills owed by the cosmetic company and placed them in front of Lillian.

“What happened to these bad debts?” Angeline asked.

Lillian picked up the bills and took a closer look at them before explaining, “I was indeed involved in this project, but all I knew was that the company had gone bankrupt before they were able to clear their outstanding debts with us. All they left us was a warehouse full of beauty devices.”

When Angeline heard that, her expression turned grim.

“Have we tried sending anyone to recover the payments?” There was a hint of displeasure in the woman’s voice.

“Of course. However, the legal representative of that cosmetic company was already sentenced to jail. It’s impossible to get anything back from them. There is simply nothing we can do.”

“You mentioned they left us a warehouse full of beauty devices, right? How many are there in total?”

“There should be more than a hundred thousand of them. However, the product wasn’t selling well previously, so I doubt sales would be any better now. Besides, we know nothing about beauty devices. Forrester Group is still a fashion apparel company after all.”

As Lillian spoke, she opened the drawer under the table and took out one of those beauty devices. “Oh, there’s one here, but it’s quite dusty, as it’s been left untouched for quite a while.”

Angeline wiped the device with a few pieces of tissues before scrutinizing it.

It did not appear to have any additional functions compared to similar beauty devices that were currently on the market.

“Ms. Sorelle, do you need me to give you an introduction to the product?” Lillian asked politely.

“You can spare the details. I just want to know what colors the product come in.”

Lillian did not know what Angeline was driving at and looked at her in confusion. Despite that, she answered truthfully, “It comes in two colors, pink and blue.”

With that piece of information, Angeline continued to examine the device, and suddenly, an idea struck her.

“Lillian, can I trouble you to get some employees to package the beauty devices in pairs comprising one color each? Let’s market it as a matching set for couples. I will pay for the new packaging. Also, make arrangements for a live stream within the next few days.”

“Understand, Ms. Sorelle. I will see to it soon.” Lillian paused and stared at Angeline hesitantly. “But… Ms. Sorelle, this device is already outdated. Are you sure we will be able to sell them?”

“Well, we have to try no matter what,” Angeline replied through gritted teeth.
