Chapter 251
Chapter 251
Angeline was racking her brain thinking about this when she heard a thud from the trash cans nearby.
She immediately grew wary and walked toward the source of the sound.
When she pushed open the metal door near the staircase, she vaguely saw a tall figure in the dimly lit corridor.
“Ah!” Angeline shrieked instinctively.
Immediately after that, a toned aim wrapped around her waist, and the smell of cigarettes wafted into her nose.
“It’s me.”
Evander's deep voice rang out.
Angeline relaxed and dropped her guard. Her shoulders relaxed as she grumbled reproachfully, “You scared me. I thought you went back home. Why are you hiding here?”
“I was having a smoke,” Evander explained in his deep voice. He noticed Angeline's frown and immediately threw his cigarette on the ground, stomping on it with his leather shoe. “Has Sebastian fallen asleep?”
Angeline was touched by his caring gesture and replied in a much gentler voice. “Yes. It's all because of you. I couldn't have handled it alone. Sebastian listens to you surprisingly well.”
Evander stared at her intently. “He's just afraid. Sebastian was diagnosed with autism, and liis mental state isn't too good. I recommend that a psychologist counsel him long term before he goes abroad.”
“Sure, I have no objections,” Angeline agreed to it instantly.
She had already considered this idea for a long time because Sebastian would benefit from professional guidance. However, she had not been able to cany out this plan due to his body's condition.
Evander's expression softened as he said solemnly, “There's one more tiling. It's related to the incident this time.”
Angeline instantly became nervous.
“I instructed Sylas to retrieve the surveillance footage from the amusement park and found out Sebastian was brought away by a mysterious woman. Her figure was similar to Joseline's. However, there was no concrete evidence until we found this picture at the toilet's entrance.”
With that, Evander took out liis phone and opened liis photo album before passing it to her.
When Angeline saw the photo, she became agitated at once.
“It's her! It's really Joseline!”
Sebastian had a cautious nature and was much more mature than most children liis age. Knowing this, Joseline tricked Sebastian using a photo of her and Angeline.
Angeline found it ironic as she looked at the photo of herself and Joseline being close in school.
She did not even want to cast a second glance at it now. After she calmed down, she became puzzled.
“Joseline was the one who provided me with Sebastian's whereabouts so that I knew he was still alive. What benefit does she gain from doing this?”
“This is what I wanted to tell you too.”
Evander leaned against the wall. The dim light fell on his face, casting a languid and seductive glow on him.
“When Joseline told you about Sebastian's whereabouts, she must have threatened you, right?”
“Oh! You're right!”
Angeline came to a realization and continued. “She threatened me to give up twenty percent of Sorelle Group's shares!”
Evander patted her shoulder and shot her a satisfied look, as though praising her intelligence for getting it so quickly.
Joseline would go to any lengths to gain something from Angeline since she had something precious to the latter to serve as a bargaining chip.
Due to Wilfred's scheming before he passed away, Sorelle Group soon went bankrupt. Joseline naturally chose to lash out at Angeline.
She would take extreme measures to harm Angeline even if it resulted in a huge loss for her.
“She's an insane person! She won't even let a kid go. I'm calling the police!”
After Angeline understood the situation, she was infuriated. She immediately took out her phone from her pocket.
Before she could press any buttons, Evander spoke up. “It's too late. Sylas would have already called the police if that was what was necessary. However, Joseline took an early morning flight and left the country today. The Yiurk family didn't even know about this.”
Upon hearing Evander's words, burning rage churned within her. The hatred in her eyes was frightening.
“She better not show up ever again.”
She owes the Sorelle family too much! She will never be able to make up for her wrongdoings, even with her death!
Evander stared at her intently. Despite the countless people he had met, he had never seen anyone with that much hatred in their eyes. It was as if she had fallen into an abyss with endless darkness.
The Angeline he knew was a smart and confident woman!
Evander grabbed Angeline's hand. When he reached out to touch her fingers, liis heart ached when he felt the icy cold temperature. It was as though her blood had been drained out of her body.
He could not help but give her a tight hug. Pulling open liis jacket, he placed her hands inside.
Angeline froze and stood rooted to the ground in shock. She did not expect Evander to do something like this. Her face flushed crimson.
They had already broken up, so it was inappropriate for them to be touching each other like this.
“L-Let go of me!”
Angeline's hands were on Evander's chest as she tried to push him away a few times.
“Joseline is definitely going to jail. You need proper rest right now. It's not the time for you to think about exacting your revenge,” Evander whispered in her ear in a soothing voice.Property © NôvelDrama.Org.
At that moment, Angeline forgot to struggle as her heart thumped wildly. She felt the walls that she had built recently crumbling.
After what seemed like an eternity. Angeline started to feel lightheaded as her vision gradually blurred.
Her eyes closed slowly, as if a thousand pounds of weight were weighing them down.
Before she lost consciousness and fell into Evander's arms, she felt a long-awaited sense of peace.
At the Golding residence, a deafening silence enveloped the area. All the housekeepers were kneeling on the ground with then heads lowered. They didn't even dare to breathe loudly.
Everyone was aware of Valerie's ruthless nature. She didn't get angry easily, but when she did. she would take it all out on everyone.
Valerie sat on the couch in the living room, dressed in a dark green gown. Her hair was neatly tied in a bun. She seemed alert and energized, not a hint of her advanced age showing.
Olivine was sitting by her side with a cup of coffee in her hands. Her eyes darkened as she drank a sip of her coffee unhurriedly.
“How dare she? When I first saw that woman, I already had my suspicions. How elegant and dignified can an actress who serves as entertainment for everyone be? As it turns out, she really has given birth before!”
Valerie was reading the newspaper in her hands. In her rage, she slammed her hand on the coffee table.
Upon seeing that, her housekeepers couldn't help but flinch.
Only Olivine was smiling in satisfaction. When she found out about the news of Angeline having an illegitimate child, she immediately rushed to the Golding residence with the newspaper.
