His Ex Wife Is A Billionaire

Chapter 166

Chapter 166

The moon was as cold as ice, with no trace of stars in the sky.

The Maybach came to a halt at Windermere Estate, and Thaddeus stepped out alone, telling the driver, “You can head back. I’ll go in by myself. You don’t

need to follow me.”

“But Mr. Thaddeus, there was thunder rumbling in the sky just now. Looks like it’s gonna rain,” said Gordon with concern. “There’s a bit of a distance from the gate to the villa. I should take you there.”

“No need,” Thaddeus replied indifferently.

His eyes were filled with melancholy, his fingers slightly adjusting his Windsor knot, “I’m feeling a bit suffocated and want to take a walk alone. Go ahead.” “Understood, Mr. Thaddeus, Gordon replied obediently.

He watched Thaddeus anxiously through the car window, like a loyal dog, until the car disappeared into the night.

Thaddeus let out a deep sigh and turned toward the mansion.

However, as soon as he started walking, the rain began to fall.

By the time Thaddeus entered the villa, he was completely soaked by the rain.

The harsh autumn wind and rain lashed at him, the cold rain hitting his face emphasized the pain in his heart.Material © of NôvelDrama.Org.

“Oh my God! Mr. Thaddeus! How did you get so wet? Where’s the driver? Where’s Mr. Gordon?” Alva ran over to him in panic.

His face was pale, his wet hair covering his eyes that were twinkling like stars. His lips were trembling slightly, water dripping from his arms.

He looked like a beautiful sea god who had just emerged from the deep ocean.

“Alva.” His voice was husky because of the lump in his throat, “Is there any wine? I need a drink.”

“You’re soaked and you still want to drink? Have you lost your mind? I’ll go make you some soup. Go upstairs, change your clothes and take a hot bath. Hurry up!”

Alva said sympathetically, turning to leave, but Thaddeus stopped her.

“I just want to drink. Let me.”

“Mr. Thaddeus, what’s wrong?” Alva sensed something was off.

Thaddeus couldn’t hold back anymore, his eyes turning red, “I ran into Evadne tonight.”

“Mrs. Abernathy! You ran into Mrs. Abernathy!”

Alva was initially delighted, but his next words wrinkled her forehead, “She’s with someone else.”

“Who?”

“She has a boyfriend now.” Thaddeus’s voice was hoarse, like a broken doll.

Alva was shocked, looking at him in surprise, “So soon! But it’s normal. She’s so excellent and kind– hearted, and her family is wealthy. Even after the divorce, there are many men chasing after her. There’s no worry about finding the next man.”

The next one?

Thaddeus’s eyes were so red they seemed to bleed, and his heart was beating so heavily, as if it was counting down.

“So, you’re soaked and want to drink because Mrs. Abernathy has a boyfriend?” Alva asked him seriously.

“I don’t know.” Thaddeus shook his head blankly.

“Mr. Thaddeus, if your heart aches because the love that originally belonged to you is given to someone else by Mrs. Abernathy, I advise you to adjust your mood as soon as possible and let go. However, if you just purely want Mrs. Abernathy, even if you are separated now and feel it’s too late, I still hope you can clarify your feelings and win Mrs. Abernathy back.”

Alva put her warm hands on Thaddeus’s wet shoulders, her eyes firm, “Mr. Thaddeus, even if the result is not as expected in the end, at least you have tried, and there will be no regrets. Besides, Mrs. Abernathy is worth it.”

Clarify his feelings?

Thaddeus kept shaking his head, denying something deep in his heart.

However, every time he denied it, his heart hurt more.

Edith had graduated from Aetheria Royal Conservatory of Music and was selected into the Royal Symphony Orchestra. But she gave up the opportunity and chose to return to Elmsworth.

Elmsworth was an economic center, not a cultural one. It was filled with the smell of money. The artistic atmosphere was not as strong as in Aetheria. Returning was not wise.

But she had plans unknown to Jareth.

She learned from Jareth that Thaddeus had completely broken up with Acacia and would never reconcile.

So she reignited her hope, hurried back to Elmsworth, and prepared to start her pursuit plan!

Having nothing to do today, Edith invited Glynnis to her house.

Edith was spoiled and arrogant, thinking she was incredibly beautiful. So she looked down on the rich girls in Elmsworth.

But she got along well with Glynnis, for one reason only. She was the daughter of the Abernathy family.

She thought only people from such families were worthy of being her friends.

“Oh Glynnis, you look so pretty today! And you’ve brought gifts, how considerate.”

Edith greeted Glynnis at the door with a wide smile, both of them holding hands like best friends.

Glynnis was full of compliments, also with her own agenda..

Jareth’s spoiling of his sister was well–known. If she could get along with Edith, wouldn’t she have a reason to frequent Jareth’s home?

She could use this opportunity to win over Mrs. Jareth again. Having Edith speak highly of her to Jareth, then marrying Jareth would be just around the

corner!

She was so smart!

“I bought some gifts while traveling a few days ago. There are some for you and some for Mrs. Jareth. They’re not very expensive, I hope you don’t mind.”

Edith looked at the pile of luxury boxes and asked with a smile, “Is there a gift for my brother here?”

“Sure, but I’m just worried your brother wouldn’t like it, and he might not accept it.” Glynnis blushed, lowering her head shyly.

“Whoa, you really got the hots for him, huh? Just a mention of him and your face turns as red as a tomato!”

Edith, with a smile playing on her lips, rea**ured her, “Don’t worry, if I give it to my brother, he’ll definitely accept it.”

“Thank you so much, Edith! I really appreciate this.” Gleeful, Glynnis quickly took out the gift for Jareth.

Accepting the exquisite box from Glynnis, Edith opened it to find a platinum tie clip adorned with sapphires at both ends, looking rather pricey.

Just then, Jareth descended the grand and royal–European–style spiral staircase. He was dressed in a tailored purple suit and a black silk shirt with a rose pattern, looking extremely exquisite.

Glynnis gazed at her dream man, her mouth slightly agape in shy admiration, almost drooling.

“Jareth!” Edith called out sweetly.

Initially, Jareth had a doting smile for his sister, but upon seeing Glynnis, his eyes turned cold and standoffish.

“Ms. Glynnis, what brings you here?”

Glynnis was so nervous she could hardly speak.

“I invited Ms. Glynnis over.”

Edith hugged Glynnis, whispering in her ear, “You know, Ms. Glynnis and I have always been close. She’s my best friend in this city.”

“Really? That’s news to me.” Jareth squinted and laughed lightly, “Edith, I’ve got no issues with you making friends. But choose wisely. Some friends guide you, while others lead you astray.”

Edith glanced at Glynnis, whose face was white as a sheet.

“Come on, I’m 22. I can tell the good from the bad.”

“I know you haven’t been in this city for long and you don’t have many friends. If you want to make friends, I could introduce you to Evadne, that beautiful lady you met a few days ago.”

Jareth’s tone softened at the mention of Evadne, “She happens to be an old friend of your mentor, Christian. You’ll have plenty to talk about and you’ll be friends in no time.”

That beautiful lady? Friends?

Edith scoffed inwardly. How could she be friends with her love rival!

As Jareth was about to leave, Edith quickly put the gift in his hand.

“Jareth, this is a gift from Ms. Glynnis. She picked it out for you in France. Please accept it.” Edith looked at him with innocent eyes.

Jareth took the box silently and strode away.

“See, if I give it, my brother will definitely accept it.” Edith giggled triumphantly.

Glynnis was so touched she was almost in tears, looking at Edith gratefully.

Jareth walked outside with a cold expression on his face.

He looked at the exquisite box in his hand without the slightest interest in opening it, ready to throw it away.

But then, remembering his sister’s words, he saw his secretary waiting by the car. He licked his lips and tossed the box to her.

The secretary caught the box, puzzled. “Mr. Jareth, what’s this?”

“A gift for you.”

The secretary opened the box, stunned. “But Mr. Jareth, this is a tie clip for men. I don’t even have a boyfriend to give it to.” Jareth gave her a frustrated look. “What, no boyfriend means no father either? If you’ve got neither, just sell it!”
