Howling Hearts

Chapter 61

Me and Layla were lying in a mud bath whilst enjoying champagne.

Layla covered her eyes with some cucumbers and I could hear her snoring from where I was. I giggled a little at the sight and soon a worker walked in.

I held my finger over my mouth, letting her know to be quiet. She took her steps softer before eventually making her way toAll content © N/.ôvel/Dr/ama.Org.

me.

"Master said I must massage your head since you have a lot on your mind" I blushed at the mention of Lucian and the sweet gesture.

I untied my hair and laid my head back, preparing myself for the massage.

The old lady's eyes glowed green like poison when I looked up at her. Just when I wanted to move my head away, she gripped onto it with so much force her nails began to dig into my scalp.

A fiery pain engulfed my body but I was unable to scream. I clenched my eyes so tightly while trying to pry her hands off. Soon I felt someone's hand slide across my fore arm, making my eyes shoot open. Light swarmed into my eyes, blinding me without mercy.

I blinked a couple of times trying to adjust my eyes to the brightness so that I could take on whatever threat there may be in store for me.

When my eyesight adjusted, I saw Aiden standing in front of me with a smug face playing strongly over his features.

A look that I knew could hold no less than absolute trouble. I jumped away at his touch, looking around me for some place to escape. I saw what I could only describe as heaven.

Beautiful pillars and bright whites, soft purples and pinks and blues decorated the halls, along with gold being the main color present.

The walking sun across the sea was a beautiful addition. But within all this beauty it seemed like I was in a castle that belonged to the ugliest of beings.

I turned to face Aiden head on. A giggle erupted from his lips, showing just how immature he truly was.

"My father wants to see you", he said between his giggles.

Before he started to walk off in one direction. I had no idea where I was or where to go, so I had no choice but to follow.

So I did. My only hope now was to see my mother on the way there. After roaming the halls for a while, we stood still by a door.

I looked at Aiden, unsure of what else to do. He laid against the wall lazily before shrugging. "Business" was all he said in an uninterested tone.

The room that was on the other side of the massive golden double doors sounded like it was breaking out in war.

There was screaming and shouting from different voices and they seemed not to get along. I could tell it was two male voices trying to sound louder than the other.

Like wolves trying to assert dominance. I heard a loud bang before I heard a voice that brought on a lot of hope. It was my mother.

She spoke calmly but I couldn't make out what she was saying. I had no doubt that it had something to do with me.

When I heard her scream, I pushed open the big doors and saw no other than Zeus himself gripping her by her neck with her feet dangling inches off the floor.

His head whipped into my direction and his eyes were overcome with fury so much I could see lightning shoot and disappear from them.

"WHO DARES TO.." He started saying in a deep voice, but I held my hand up stopping him in his sentence.

", if we cannot handle this like adults, then we will handle this in battle and I can PROMISE you I wont be on your side."

I said I could see his wheels turning but it seemed like age was starting to somehow catch up to him since they were turning very slowly.

I walked up and gripped his wrist. "LET GO" I demanded. I could feel the anger rolling off my aura and no doubt everyone else could too. "DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM", he said in a deep, angry tone, spitting each word out.

"Yes, but you have yet to show me who you are as a leader and, so far, I don't see much."

I said confidently. "What leader goes on like a spoiled adult brat?"

I could see he was getting angrier as the time went by. Suddenly, he let go of my mother and she fell to the floor trying to catch her breath.

"DO YOU WANT TO TAKE HER PLACE?"

"We both know you need me alive so your threat means nothing"

I spat as I tried to comfort my mother who was lying weakly on her knees.

When she caught her breath she waived my hand away letting me know she alright. Astraeus held his hand out to her and she gladly took it to help her up.

When she was back on her feet, she once again regained her poise with her hands in front of her stomach.

Looking like a woman containing her wrath and power, and yet she still looked more powerful than ever.

"So may I be informed about what is going on and why I am here",

I said, and the room felt so silent. Aiden, who was lounging on one of the chairs, looked around the room before his eyes fell

on me.

"You're here to fix the Lucian problem. You were betrothed to me before you decided to run away to earth and play wolf", he said, getting up from the chair and started to walk over to me menacingly. Astraeus stepped in front of him as a warning. "There was no agreement about her being your wife, not from our side at least".

"Oh, common Astraeus, we both know that it means nothing when she remembers nothing. How can she make an informed decision? If anyone is forcing her, it's the two of you",

Zeus said from the side, making me raise a brow at him.

"I have my memories back and there is no reason to try and make like I had accepted Aiden's hand in marriage nor that I had ever accepted Aiden in any manner or way.

Me and Lucian have been destined since the beginning of time and there will be nothing that changes that.

Therefore, I believe that there is no need to fix this matter and we can all let it go"

"Let it go?"

Zeus said with lightning starting to shoot from his body.

"Let you go? So that you can come back and rip the throne from my son's hands. I don't think sol

He said in a deep tone and I could tell he was trying his best to calm himself.

"Firstly, your son has already impregnated another, therefore, I have no interest, not that I think it would've been different had there been no child, but that does give me a foot to stand upon. As for the rest, I wasn't trying to negotiate with you. My choice has been made. End of discussion".

I turned on my heels and started to walk out. I could hear my mother and Astraeus following me.

Zeus and Aiden started fighting and swearing as we left, but their voices were nothing but a distant annoyance to me. I felt powerful at this moment, but I also knew this was just the beginning.
