Chapter 821 She’s in Trouble
Chapter 821 She’s in Trouble
At Fairlight, Ophelia stormed into Joseph's office. Ignoring Lucas, she shouted, "Where’s Chloe? I have a few choice words for her!"
Chloe disappeared last night, and Ophelia could not reach her. Chloe did not answer her calls, nor did she reply to any of her messages. They had agreed to cooperate, but Chloe suddenly went off the grid.
Ophelia could not tolerate the frustration, especially after watching Xavia preen like a peacock and play the violin all night. It annoyed her to no end. The worst part was that the uncultured commoners around her thought that Xavia had played well.
Even after calling again today, Ophelia’s calls still went unanswered. She did not want to lose her temper, but she could not hold back anymore. She would not tolerate such disrespect.
Joseph lifted his gaze from the pile of documents on his desk. His expression was calm as he asked, "Why are you looking for her?"
"Something urgent, of course. Just tell me where she is."
"Don't you have her number?"
"I do, but she isn’t answering. Otherwise, would I bother with coming to you? I went to the Sullivan residence, but she was not there. She’s not at Exotic Star either."
Callum had mentioned that Joseph was Chloe's ex-husband. And seeing as he was still infatuated with her, he should know everything about her.
Joseph's eyebrows furrowed and his face became serious. "You can't reach her?" NôvelD(ram)a.ôrg owns this content.
"Yeah. You can try if you don't believe me."
‘Did she oversleep maybe? She often sleeps in until the afternoon," Joseph wondered. But he soon dispelled the thought after seeing it was already three in the afternoon. It was impossible that she had not woken up yet.
He suddenly realized something, and his face sank. "She’s in trouble."

At the Sullivan manor, smoke billowed out of the windows. The first person to notice this was a gardener tending to the flowers in the courtyard. He hurried inside to inform the house helpers. When Noah arrived at Chloe’s room, the fire had already engulfed half the carpet, but fortunately, the fire had not spread too rapidly.
Thick smoke filled the air, and Chloe’s figure could be barely seen through the haze. She was still in her sleepwear, and her feet were bloodied, giving her the appearance of a vulnerable young girl. But her eyes held a resolute determination that could only have been forged through facing life's hardships and challenges.
Noah's heart trembled, and he quickly walked over to carry her out. Once they were outside, Chloe immediately tried to get away from him.
"Let go of me."
"No, your feet are injured. You shouldn’t be walking."
Chloe struggled with all her might as she did not want to stay in his arms. Her actions stung him, but at the moment, he cared more about her well-being.
"You can hit me and curse at me, but please don't make light of your body. Grandpa would be heartbroken if he knew about this," Noah said gently, trying to reason with her and convince her to prioritize herself.
"Isn't this all a result of your doing?" Chloe said, gazing at Noah mockingly. She distanced herself from him, standing barefoot on the lawn. The soft grass felt like sharp blades, aggravating the wounds on the soles of her feet.
Bewildered, Noah asked in disbelief, "Locking you up in your room means that I'm forcing you? This is your home. Do you think I’d just stand by and watch you seek out Joseph?"
Chloe was too exhausted to explain herself any further. Weakly, she shook her head. "Think whatever you want. Cancel the wedding. I’ll explain things to Grandpa."
"Never!" Noah immediately rejected and ordered all the house helpers to surround her. "Don't even think about leaving. Since you’re so stubborn, take this time to reflect on yourself until you come to your senses."
