Chapter 822 You’re Involved in My Child’s Death
As soon as he had finished speaking, the helpers surrounded Chloe and unceremoniously pushed her into a room, leaving her with no opportunity to think or resist. This time, Noah had decided to lock her up in his room.
Chloe felt perplexed as she stared at the helpers standing before her. As they followed Noah’s orders in such a respectful manner, she wondered if they had been brainwashed. She felt like an intruder in her own house.
"Coco, the fact that I managed to save you five years ago means that I have the power to lock you up again," Noah said. He sat next to her and tucked a strand of loose hair behind her ear. His movements were gentle, yet the words that came out of his mouth chilled Chloe to the bone.
A wave of unprecedented nausea washed over Chloe. She pushed him away and said, "Have you finally decided to shed your pretense?"
Hearing the word "pretense," Noah's face sank. "You see my kindness toward you as an act? Coco, I'm disappointed in you."
"Was killing my child also a kindness?" Chloe blurted out.
At her words, he froze and stared at her. After calming himself a little, he said through trembling lips, "You're talking crazy. Your child’s death was an accident. Didn't Vanya already tell you the truth?"
"That's because you threatened her!"
Noah's heart skipped a beat. He felt the air around him thinning as unsettling emotions surged within him. "So you knew all along?" Content protected by Nôv/el(D)rama.Org.
Chloe simply stared at him silently with cold eyes that were filled with disgust.
Clenching his fists, Noah took a few deep breaths and said, "I did it for your own good. Keeping that child would’ve been a burden to you."
Chloe burst into laughter. She jabbed her finger into his chest and hissed, "And what gives you the right to make any decisions about my child?”
So according to his logic, should she be thanking him for taking her child away?
"Aren't you happy now? You have a family, a career, and a reputation that others envy. If you kept that child, you would never be able to sever your ties to Joseph. You'd become a divorced single mother struggling to survive and would face prejudice at every turn. It was me who made the right choice for you."
"That's what you think. It's not what I wanted," Chloe said, emphasizing each of her words as she stared into his eyes. "You. You’re one of the culprits involved in my child’s death. When Grandpa gets back, I'll tell him everything. Whether he allows you to remain in this house, I won't object to it, but I’ll never marry you."
Once she had revealed everything, Chloe felt a heavy weight being lifted off her shoulders. The enormous burden that had been weighing her down vanished, leaving only a sense of relief. She did not have to pretend anymore.
Seeing the determination in Chloe's eyes, Noah's gaze flickered and he started to panic. He was not afraid of Desmond knowing the truth, but he feared Chloe leaving. The meticulously planned actions he had taken to clear the obstacles in her path had transformed him into a villain in her eyes. For him, that was simply not true. He was not at fault. It was Chloe who could not see the truth.
An idea popped into his head. Noah's face sank and he said, "Coco, I have no other choice now. Please don't hold this against me."
Chloe stared at him, her neck hairs standing on end as she sensed danger closing in.

After leaving the room, Noah was approached by a helper who urgently informed him, "Sir, Mr. Joseph and Princess Ophelia are here. They wish to see Ms. Chloe."
"Take me to them."
"No need. I’m coming upstairs."
Joseph rounded the staircase. Clad in a trench coat, he exuded a powerful presence.
